itstime

Hello
I would like to introduce myself, I started cohens in June last year and lost 22kilos. Then 3 months ago one deviation lead into 2 deviations and so on, I gained 5 kilos, I have another 20 kilos to go to goal. I’m so glad I have found this forum, you give each another so much support.

I am now back on track and determined to get to goal.

Tasm82: We have around the same amount to lose, my contract also runs out at the end of May.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Helen :)

End of Day 1 of Refeed

Dear all,

I'm going to hit the sack soon but just thought I should post something to share with you all my experiences.

Actually, it's a lot easier than I thought to be! I didn't deviate at all because I strategized what time I was going to eat my crackers and fruits. But I got to admit, that because the office pantry is just behind my back, my eyes would steal an occassional glance at the yummy foods. But I told myself to be strong and stay clear from them!

I don't know why but I was full for dinner. I couldn't eat finish all my protein and vegetables so I had to throw the leftovers. It wasn't much of a leftover though. I didn't want to force myself to eat everything so I put a stop to it when I feel that my stomach cannot take it anymore.

Now, I'm still feeling full from dinner. Oh yah... during the day, I have the occassional sugar cravings, so I will take a piece of chewing gum or so...

Anyway, Day 1 has ended! I'm proud of myself! Tomorrow is a very long day at work... from 7 am to ... 9 pm plus! I hope I can conquer the day at work without any deviations.

Yayyy! Day 1 of zero deviations! Day 2, here I come!

Thank you all for being so supportive... will continue to try my best..

To those who have fallen off the bandwagon, get back on it... It's never too late to go on... Cohen is about perseverance, patience and discipline. =)

Hazel~~!
So happy for you~~! Hope you will complete refeed with 0 deviation~! Just remember, its just 14 more days and you will be able to eat "watever" you wanted~! GANBATTE NE p(^-^)q

I made it to halfway

Hi everyone

I am so excited as the dreaded scales finally did a big drop for me and I am now offically half way - have to admit I am quite chuffed with myself for being able to stick 100% to cohens for the last 11 weeks and hope to continue the same way for the DOWNHILL (gotta love that) journey..

I'll be raising a glass of diet ginger ale this afternoon -

YEAHHHHH:eek:

Newlife - Refeed

Hi Newlife, congratulations on reaching refeed!

Having completed refeed, can I please emphasise how very important it is to eat ALL of the additional food prescribed in your refeeding booklet. The process is very gradual with increasing portions and variety and I am concerned that if you continue to throw out small amounts of your refeed quantities that it will not stabilise your body as much as possible. I don't want to discourage you, but not eating everything as directed during refeed is deviating! Please, read through your refeed instructions again and maybe talk to your consultant about your first day and what your best course of action is from here.

I know it's hard to start with, the extra protein and veges seems like you're stuffing yourself silly, but you MUST eat everything listed on the refeed to the gram. If you are having trouble with the quantities, space out your increased amounts of vegetables and protein across at least 2 of your meals.

Good luck with those increasing meals, and enjoy the new fruits!

Hi Mez,

Serious? I have to finish up everything? According to my booklet, they said in the event that I cannot finish my food, I should eat finish the new protein and leave out the old protein. But for Day 1, there is no new protein so since I'm only eating the old protein in increased quantities, does it mean that I have to eat everything?

This is a good question. Okay... I will go call my consultant later on... hopefully I can get them before I eat my lunch cos my lunch today is 150g of fish... up by 30g!

Thank you for your kind caution. Really do appreciate it. :)

Wow - there are some inspiring stories!!

It's my first day on Cohens today and I am so happy to be on the program! I pre-made all of my portions last night and have worked out a schedule as to when I can have my fruits (2 per day) and Vita Weat (5 per day).

But I do have a little question - do you ladies know if baby octopus counts as calamari?

Good luck to everyone !!! I hope to see results in the first week :)!:) :)

ad4ad!!!

ad4ad!

heya! no baby octopus is NOT counted as calamari, they are two totally different things..

where are you buying your fish from? if you go to the seafood deli section of your nearest store or maybe the fish market you will be able to find either

A) Calamari (the little round circle thingos :) )
B)Squid / Squid tubes (these are calamari BEFORE they have been cut up into little circle thingos)

also ask your consultant if your still not sure!

good luck and happy losing!

caroline xx

only 7 more sleeps till my 12 week weigh in!!

Welcome Ad4AD:)

You sound very organised which is what Cohen's is all about.
You are obviously very motivated so way to go.
Just think in 2 weeks you will feel your clothes become looser, your complexion becoming brighter and you will feel great.

I am in size 12's now but used to be a 16 - the 12's are now loose on me and I go for my 8 week weigh next week. So if you stick to the plan without any deviations (I have had 2) you will definitely see the weight fall off.

And FATCAT is right about the calamari I bought the tubes today.

Best of Luck
Sam:)

Mid-Afternoon Update

Hey all!

it's 1.5 days into my refeed! I'm left with 13.5 days.

I called up my consultant earlier and she said that I have to eat everything up, no matter how full I am because it will help my body to stabilise the changes I'm making to my food intake.

But I got a few questions here I hope some of you can help me, especially those who have finished refeed:

1) Must I eat up all fruits and crackers prescribed daily?
2) Must I strictly follow to the adding 1 bad fruit?
3) Must I eat all the old and new protein because in my booklet, it says that in the event that I cannot finish my food, I should at least finish the new protein and leave out the old protein.

I was also told that I do not need to eat all my crackers. So I'm just double checking because right now, the regular consultant that I turn to is not in the office. I will have to wait till Monday to get her.

Btw, I weighed myself today and I'm 300g lighter than yesterday! i'm 66.6 kg now... *big smiles*

Somehow, I feel that the temptation is there but I'm going to try to persevere on!

Keep on working hard, Cohenites!

hi ad4ad,

welcome to the crew!! what a great bunch of people you will find on here. newbys like us, half wayers and the lucky ones on refeed or due to be.

i am now on day three and it is much easier than the first couple. still find i get a little hungry but it is normally abut half hour before a meal. i always try to keep something up my sleeve as back up in case i am hungry after dinner. though a cuppa tea helps.

it is great that everyone is open and honest about deviations and good for myself that i want so bad not to deviate as it can be a downhill slide.

i have a wedding to go to on 3rd march which will be a few days after my first weigh in. so as not to be rude i will eat the main but will discard any sauces, carbs and try to portion the meat and veg as close to my allowance as i can.

FRUIT- did we get an outcome on whether you can have one large nectarine or two small???

Lose on friends!!!

P.S. did someone say they were also from wollongong??

Tanya :)

Hi all,

Just thought i'd pop in to say hi and do a ticker update. I'm really pleased with how everything has gone on Cohen's. I've had one of the worst months, hence my lack of posts, with huge family dramas but have managed to stay on track and haven't deviated at all even though I could have given into comfort eating due to the stress. My best friend congratulated me on the fact that I didn't succumb to a piece or block of choccie or a glass of wine.

Have continued to read your posts and wanted to congratulate newlife on reaching refeed. Its so exciting reading about everyones success and that has helped keep me on track too.

Hope you're all fantastic,

Irene

28 weeks today!
I am down 39kg from my starting weight.
and today I bought my first EVER size 12 jeans! I think sizes have increased over the past few years, cause I didn't fit into size 12 even when I was a teenager and weighed 15 kg less than I do now! (they are a bit tight, but will fit for a while!) But I am a size 12 top now easily.
But I'm not going to complain!
I'll update my photo on the photo thread.
So, I'm off to Europe this afternoon, and that is likely to affect my weight loss for the next 2 weeks, although I should be doing some walking which may help me to control my weight.
I'm not sure what my internet access will be like, so hope everyone has a great couple of weeks!

Hi HL:)

What an acheivement 39kg down. You must be feel elated with yourself.

And you are quiet right about the sizes I bought some shorts in a size 12 and they are more like the 14's from the 80's I definitely believe they (whoever they are) have manipulated the sizes over the years. I still have clothes from the 80's in sizes 10 & 12 so will check this theory out.

Enjoy your 2 weeks away HL and don't be too concerned, Cohen's has mentally trained us so you may come back with a loss or even just stay the same. Either way we will be here to support you on your return.

Take Care & Bon Voyage!!!

hey everyone,
well I signed up yesterday...yay! and i collect my program on friday! I can't wait. This time round I know I can make it with the support you continuosly show to each other. I think I will leave starting till the monday, but am conscious of not gaining even more weight while I sit here and go omg! I'm going to be so restricted i better eat this and that LOL. I have a little less to lose than I expected when I went yesterday as my goal weight was more than I thought they would say. So I am happy with that. I have 19kg to lose. So thinner happier more confident me...here I come. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you all over the coming months....cheers and have a wonderful wonderful day :)

Enf od Day 2 Refeed

Dear all,

I ended Day 2 with zero deviations! I feel so proud of myself. :D

Anyway, during the day, after lunch, I had to battle some sugar cravings so I chewed a piece of gum and drank a cup of tea with sweetener. Very soon after, it was dinner time at 530 as I have another work event at 7pm. So as I was eating tuna fish (I hate tuna) in increased amounts, it took me like 40 mins to finish my dinner. I was wondering when I will ever finish my food!

I was hungry again at about 10 plus so then I took my last serving of fruit and crackers. I wanted to update last night but I was so tired out with work that I hit the sack immediately after I came home.

I'm proud of myself for having not deviated at all. Especially so when the office stock of snacks and confectionery is right behind me so everytime when I turn out from my table, I will face packets of chocolate chip cookies, peanut cookies, sweets, sweet drinks, etc. I do get tempted but I have to constantly drill into my brain that I shall not deviate.

Ha... my colleagues laughed when they passed by my office table. This is because I had pasted two notes: 1) 14 days towards a successful Cohen graduate and 2) Day 2 of Refeed: Aim for ZERO deviation. It sounds very juvenile but I'm going to need all the brain power and psycho-ing I can get.

The weekend is here and that is the hardest part because I'm exposed to more temptations. I'm going to work hard here and will proudly announce that I went through Sat without any deviations.

I hope you all do not mind my daily or mid-day postings. Through this forum, this serves as an outlet for me to constantly encourage and remind myself to persevere on and not cave into any temptations.

And yes! I'm down by 0.3 kg today! I'm 66.3 kg now. Yipee! :D

Take care all, I hope Sat is good!
