Hi hey fatty

In answer to your questions
So a few questions for you all....
1. how much did you lose in first 4 weeks?
2. did you measure every week?
3. what do you think is the hardest thing about the program??

1. I lost 6.6kg in the first 4 weeks
2. I measure every wednesday and have lost approx 80cms so far
3. The hardest thing about the diet is mental - the first few weeks I found hard as I felt it was unfair that I needed to do this and others don't. However it keeps getting easier now my body is looking more like those who don't need cohens.

I watched the biggest loser last night and am going to use this as motivation for the next 11 weeks(this should bring me close to refeed). The people on that show have a lot more weight than me to lose and to do it in front of the nation I think is so brave.

did someone say they were also from wollongong??

Hi Tanya,
I'm from Wollongong!! I'm pretty new to this forum although have been reading for a while...
I've been doing cohen's for 3 weeks now and can't beleive how good I feel!
I have hidden my scales so I have no idea how many kilos I have lost, but I have lost nearly 30cm, so I'm feeling pretty hopeful!

Hi Newlife

Hello Newlife:)

You sound so organised and strong willed. Well done.

I have just a few questions:-

1. With refeed do you still weigh in through the clinic(or are you doing this through the net?).
2. If you do weigh at what stage does this happen 4wk-8wk etc.
3 you say you are continuing to lose weight. Is this the norm on refeed?
4 & What do you mean by mixing of proteins?

I also read on this forum that it is better to lose more weight than what cohen's recommends because once you start refeed you are stabilised at whatever weight your body halt's at after refeed, mine being 65kg but I would like to be less

Look forward to your feed back.
Sam:)

Hi Sam,

i do my weighing at my home. The only time I weighed myself at the clinic was the time when I collected my weight loss program.

Since then, I have been weighing myself using the same old machine. Our spore office does it differently because they don't call us for weigh-ins.

For refeeding, we have to weigh ourselves everyday so that we can take note of what new foods cause us to gain weight.

Losing weight during refeed happens but it varies per individual. In other words, i may lose weight but you may not. And it usually happens during the first 10 days of your refeed. Otherwise, if you do not lose any weight during the first 10 days, you will not lose anymore.

Mixing of proteins during refeed helps us to get used to different types of proteins like chicken with fish. You can also mix new proteins with old protein such as chicken thigh meat with breast meat, etc. This sort of stabilises our system.

Anyway, I'm 3/4 way through the day. I'm feeling some temptations now but I think i go chew a piece of gum to curb it. Day 5 of zeo deviation, here I come!

Hi Jem, wow, funny there is a few of us from the gong. then others from other side of world. and we are so close in times, i am coming to the end of week one and cant wait to measure.

things today have been much easier. thankfully....

Newlife - congratulations, you are doing so so well with no deviations. you have been so strong willed. good on you.

lose on friends

Todays Rant

hey everyone :)

nothing much to report in sunny perth today, other than its been very nice and toasty and ive had no trouble consuming on average 4 litres of water

I had a dream last night that i was sitting in a cafe with friends and i was eating a fancy BLT baguette type thing and i woke up thinking 'Sh!t what have i done:mad: ?' and when i thought about the dream i remembered i didnt even enjoy it at all, i dont have any cravings for bread or pasta or potatoes at all since starting cohens! me thinks this is a good thing considering ive found alot that have finished refeed found to be carb sensitive anyway!

Im getting a bit anxious coming up to fridays weigh in  i keep thinking of possible weight lost over the past 4 weeks as ive been ever so vigilant and deviant-free and its really doing my head in cos i know if i am over confident and i dont get the result i wanted i will be so friggen angry and disapointed!

one thing im looking forward too is weighing in bikinis :D all my weigh ins at the clinic have been in clothes and my consultant god bless is letting me weigh in bikinis this friday (although it will be a ghastly sight:eek: hehe), her and i get along really well she is like my mentor and i thank god everyday i signed up and was given to her as a client. I really trust her and am confident enough to have her standing next to me on friday when im in barely nothing

another thing ive noticed is how quick people are to turn on you.i think everyone here are open and honest individuals that give support encouragement as well as advice.i guess im talking about the post where a non-cohens is doing someone elses plan.we were all trying to explain that it might be a bad idea doing someone elses plan and suddenly its like we get a hit in the face that we are all negative and non encouraging people ?

hrmmm ...:(

Anywho i hope everyone had a deviant free day and took one happy step closer to becoming the new you :)

Happy losing everyone xx

06/04/07 (20 wk) = ?? HOPEFULLY AT GOAL WEIGHT! :D

Well today is the day. I am now an official cohenite. I started my program. I will get myselt a ticker so you can all watch me wither away.

Best wishes to all.

Hello everybody, let me start by saying that you are all so strong and supportive, thats so great!!!
I joined cohens quite a while ago and stuck to it for just over 5 weeks and lost about 10kgs! Then I went away with my husband for a few days and havent been on it ever since. Now I have stacked on 7kgs and finding it SO VERY HARD to stick to my program again I havnt got much time left on my contract so if anyone has some words of wisdom that might help please let me know. I'm feeling kind of hopeless!

Updates on Day 5 and Day 6

Dear all,

i'm on Day 6 of refeed!

Yesterday, I was very very exhausted after work. Perhaps because my body was aching from the body toning class and work was taking a toll on me, but I immediately collapsed right after dinner. I was watching TV halfway when I just went off to sleep at 930 pm.

Anyway, it was a great battle for me yesterday because I was extraordinarily hungry. I ate my food super fast and I was hungry after that! I also ate up all my food (fruits and crackers) so there should not be any reason why I feel hungry! And because I was still hungry, I was tempted. So i looked at the biscuits longingly. Okay... I confess, I took a teeny weeny bit of a butter cookie. VERY teeny weeny bit and because I felt guilty, I told myself not to do it again. I told myself that if I were to cheat anytime today, Day 5 of zero deviation would no longer exist!

But i was greatly tempted due to my hunger, plus my colleagues offering me food to eat.

Anyway, on to Day 6.

I woke up, feeling that I am heavier so again, I got on to the scales. I figured out that I would not lose weight cos I ate up all my permitted food like protein, crackers, 4 servings of fruits, etc. But to my surprise, I lost weight again!

i lost another 0.5kg! So i'm now 65.6kg. I got so shocked but yet on the other hand, motivated to persevere on.

And because I lost weight, I basically decided to try on a Mango skirt I bought in December last year. When I tried it on a few weeks ago, it was still tight and tummy hugging. But today, it fits fine! It looks so good on me! I'm just so happy that the money I spent on the skirt has not gone to waste! I can't wait to wear the skirt to work. Yipee!!!

So winnie, if you have fallen off the bandwagon, go back on it. Keep trying until you get it right. All of us have fallen off the bandwagon at some time or another but the key thing is to go back on it and try as much as you can to be faithful. Keep on trying until you get it right. Perseverance, planning, discipline are they keys to getting back onto Cohen.

Wow

Wow I can't believe how many newbies there are!!! It's soooo great! Good Luck to each and everyone of you - how great is this program!!!
Well I've been struggling a bit lately, fell off the wagon a couple of times - most recently was Sunday's Big Day Out.... had 3 Vodka Lime and Soda's over 4 hours... I can't believe how quick I can get drunk now!!! - Warning to all - when you finish be sooo careful with alcohol it really dosn't take much at all to be feeling the effects.
Anyway back on the wagon today and after 2 full weeks of a serious plateau I am glad to say I was down a kg this morning on the scales!!! Thank God.... I can actually see the light at the end of the tunnel!
I'm due for my appointment on Monday so I hope to order refeed then I should be 2 kgs off my "Cohen's Set' goal weight by then.
Hey FatCat, I'm at the booragoon clinic the girls are great there.. who do you have as your consultant?
Newlife - it is so great that your are posting your progress on refeed, I'm soo close I can taste it and it is good to get an idea of what it is like, so thanks! and your doing so well!!!
Anyway back to work!!! But lastly I will leave you with a quote from my Favourite Docter:
And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!” Dr Seuss.:D

Have a great day and happy shrinking!

Good to see everyone is doing so well.

MellyP almost to refeed, how awesome!!

Newlife congratulations, finally there and still losing!!!
you go girl!

Boring?

Hello Everyone, It's great to come back to the forum and read the positiveness I've missed.

We're doing fine on the program, my husband and I. We're losing centimetres all over and the scales concur that we're losing weight.

However, my spirits got punctured a little recently.

My younger sister, who is very close to me, declined to hang out with me on Sunday like she always does. She says we're so "fixated" on the eating program we're boring.

My husband put it into perspective that it's because we have stopped doing things she likes to do - we used to dine at restaurants and shop for clothes and stuff - things that we have to put on hold for a while. But it still doesn't feel good.

I would have liked for my sister to be a little bit more supportive. I think she might be a bit upset (?) that I'm losing weight because she has always felt her weight to be an issue but isn't doing anything about it. Clothes that were too big for her were passed to me. It probably will be difficult when her clothes become too big even for her "big" sister...:(

I'm not losing steam because I know this program is working for my husband and I. And I'm focused on the target.

MellyP - I also go to Booragoon - right across the road from Garden City!

Well I am now most of the way through day 5.... I had a very hard time yesterday and there was temptation around every corner! I still have not been able to find the scales that my partner had so I have no idea what I weigh - but I feel good today!!!

When do they put you on re-feed? My target is 64-67kilos - I know the book says that you will get hungry when it is time to change - but is there a specific weight at which you are put on re-feed?

Glad to be approaching the end of the first week with no deviations - I just need to do this 3 more times and I will have my weigh in!!!

Good to read how everyone is going!

Caffine OD

Hi all,
Things seem to be going well for most and there is always tomorrow a new beginning otherwise.

Just had to share my cheesecake story turned disaster with you all'
Having read the receipe I whipped up the coffee cheeese cakes and was planning them for lunch yesterday. I had overbooked clients and had 10mins for lunch I ate my salad and bit into the cheese cake thinking oh this will be good............... and it was a bit strong so I had a bit more in case I hadn't mixed the coffee in evenly but no yuck:eek: ..... even worse...............because the next client was pulling into the driveway and it was too late to get anything else I ate them knowing I would have to wait another 11/2 hrs to get more protein I gobbled the rest.
Half hour later I had the biggest Caffine hit ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (havent had coffee for 4weeks and I accidentally???? trippled the amount in the receipe

Didnt sleep much at all all night  ...............buzzed around with my eyes on stalkslike a nutter all day. ..........will try the fruit receipe next time:)

Regards Nonna

Ps 4 weeks along 9.5kg down and 33cms!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS MISS CLOONEY for becoming a cohenite!! :D:D:D stick with this program and in no time youll be a succesfull cohen graduate with no need to diet ever again ! hehe

Winnie - Thanks for being open and honest!at least you know where you went wrong and are ready to jump back onto the wagon - question is..are you ready?
are you ready to shift those kilos and become the sexy mama you always felt like inside? are you ready to walk with your head held high knowing your not in australia obesity stats? are you ready to live your life just the way you wanted without worrying about love handles, muffin tops, tuckshop arms, thunder thighs?
if you answered yes to the above questions then YES YOU CAN DO IT! its only a short period of time that will affect the rest of your life! good luck!

Newlife - YOU GO GIRL! and as for that butter cookie..it will be there at the end of your refeed! so dont worry about teesey weensy slip ups (just make sure it doesnt happen again hehe!) and steam on!!! :p

Melly P - Thanks for the tip about alcohol! Im planning belated birthday celabrations after i finish refeed (hopefully end of march/early april) and i was thinking about how i used to go out and no Sh!t i would probably have consumed over half a bottle of bacardi and a litre of diet coke throughout the night (yes i used to be a bit of a party girl haha), nice to know i will be quite the 'cadbury kid' and my nights will be ever so cheap!!! can i ask your reasons for ordering refeed 2 kg from ur goal weight?are you getting that hungry feeling?or did the consultants tell you to / push it onto you?the reason im asking is because i want to order my refeed at the lower end of my goal weight and get down to 65 kilo (even tho my goal weight is 67-70) . I am just so adamant that i weigh 65 when i finish.SO stubborn even though im a pisces lol! My consultant is Gaye  shes the best ever!

Dreamer - HUN! where have you gone>? how are you progressing in your journey??

Windy Blue - Sorry to hear about your sister hun :( if its any consolation im in the same boat. Some of my girlfriends are starting to get a bit jealous that im losing weight, even one of them commented the other week that ' i cant take going out with you anymore because when we see our old friends the only thing they talk about is you!'.
so much for being supportive hey! she said it in a joking way but i could tell she was taking a stab. another friend of mine says i should stop dieting soon cos im looking sick and people are going to think im anorexic by the end??
shes always been alot smaller then me and always had more attention from boys so i think she just wants to go on a power trip.nevermind. if at the end she turns on me i guess we all really knew why she was my friend in the first place - to make herself feel better!

As for me nothing much to report except for the fact that i woke up this morning with an irresistable urge to binge on 'Milky way - Smarties' , its a white block of chocolate with smarties all through it...SO WEIRD considering i never liked the stuff -was way too sweet for me as i am a dark choco lover..but this morning WOW it hit me like a train, it wasnt until after i drank a bottle of water that the urge subsided..its not even that time of month or anything!

sorry about the novel posts people! i love this forum and lately ive found my 'forum' voice with so much to say! hehe

Happy losing everyone!

FatCat:And I hope you never lose your forum voice!!!
Thank you so much for your words of empowerment! Thats just what I needed!!:D :D :D
Its a bit of a shame that some people take you loseing weight so personally. Its something you do for yourself and nobody else!! I'm sure everything will eventually work itself out, it might just take some people a bit longer to get used to the new you.:) After all loseing weight is a life changing thing!!:)

Hey FatCat,
My Cohens Suggested Goal Weight is 57 - 60kgs in a weeks time I will be 2 kgs off my Cohens Suggested Goal Weight therefore I will need to order my refeed program. I have actually set My Own Goal Weight at 56kgs, 1 kg under the lower end of my Cohen's Suggested Goal Weight. But and it's a big But... If I get the insatiable hunger where my body is telling me that this is My Natural Goal Weight at any time between 60kgs and 56kgs then I will have to start my refeed immediately. My consultant tells me it is an unbearable hunger and you need to have your Refeed Program on hand so you can start straight away and not deviate. So I don't want to wait until I get the hunger and then order it as it takes a few days to get it and I don't want to be starving hungry for those few days and blow the whole thing by eating anything in sight!
In your eating plan on page 14 you will see this at the bottom:

Approaching Goal Weight
When you are 2kg from goal weight, contact your clinic to order your Refeeding Program! (Remember the Refeeding Program stabilizes the body, to assist you in maintaining your natural goal weight for life!) You are ready for your Refeeding Program when you start to getting hungry. If you are weighing your food accurately, drinking sufficient water etc etc etc, you should not get hungry until you are at your Natural Goal Weight. Starting your Refeeding Program before you reach your Natural Goal Weight may result in weight gain; therefore you may not start your refeeding program until you are within 2kgs of your Suggested Goal Weight.

I hope that it all makes sense now.:)
Have a great night!

Oh before I forget... ad4ad it's great to see another Perthy in here!! who is your consultant - I'm with Gaye.
How's your journey on the Cohen's bus treating you? And how freakin Hot is it!!!

Life changing

Hey FatCat, thanks for sharing about your friends. It's tough isn't it? But we will persevere :) My sis is a bright girl who is mostly reasonable - i hope she will come round to the idea that I'm going to be much slimmer. And when she sees the results, I hope she considers spending her money on one less holiday and investing it on doing something about her weight @ health.

I'm having so much fun cooking creatively on Cohen's. Just did a spicy prawn stir-fry that tastes yum but I won't know if it's good until I have it for lunch tomorrow. I always cook the next day's lunch after dinner so that I can bring along to work.

And I'm going to try that mango cheesecake idea this weekend. It sounds super delicious!

Back on Cohens

Hi all,

I'm back on Cohen's again. Finished re-feed in Oct but stopped before I reached my own goal weight. reached the weight that Dr Cohen suggested. Anyhow, I'm back on again cuz I put on some weight while I was on my honemoon, so I'm determined to reach my own goal weight by end of March...?:)

8 week weigh in done

Hi everyone :)

Hope you are all well and losing.

Just updating my ticker :D

It's all good new I've lost and I am now in the 60's yeah!!!!!!!!!!

A few more to go and I will be at refeed.

Thanks for all your support eveyone who's offered it I definitely believe if it wasn't for this forum i wouldn't have been this enthusiastic.

I haven't been around lately so to any new people, I started cohens on the 11/12/06 at 79kg and have lost 10.7 kg in 8 weeks.

This programme is unbelievable - I love it and I have never said that a about any diet.

Take care all
