hey thanks I really appreciate it.

I have been slacking the past week only going to the gym a good 4 times in the past week. Unfortunately school is killing me.... it seems like all the teachers wait till the end of the semester till the first week of may they give you allllll of the tests and other programs its unreal for all my classes all the time so much work to do :(.

Good thing is I met with out atheletics director and coach, I am good to play for next hockey season. My grades are good finally! The greatest part is we are going to play against NCAA Teams this year and not just be a ACHA (club hockey) team! I am hoping to be able to transfer out of ccac by the end of next year and go back to the university of pittsburgh.

As soon as school is over (first week of may I am counting down the days) I will start putting on some muscle mass, Im too skinny now lol :(.

Heres a current pic from easter with my sister and mom.

Aww, what a sweet picture. Don't worry, once the semester is over you can get back to your normal routine. Our semester ends end of next week. Finals begin the week of the 28th. And, I graduate on May 3rd...thank goodness. It's finally over...this long never-ending program is finally over!! Good luck with your finals!

haha yah tell me about it.

Oh gosh you look so different! 125 lbs gone? You look extremely handsome now. lol. drooool... heheh

haha thanks!

wow! great job! You look like a totally different guy! congrats on a job well done!

thanks! I do look very different, I have to tell people most of the time who I am if they havent seen me in the past year or so...

this is close to me at my heaviest..

This picture was taken last night...

pssttt, I shouldnt drink still lol, I only drink a good once per month thats pretty much it.

Well as far as my workouts I am accomplishing alot. In the morning I have been running a good 4 miles (generally around 10am) Then its off to work or off to school. At night I will run a mile + all the weight lifting I have been doing trying to put on some mass... Unfortunately I am finding out that the running part is kind of taking away from that. Hockey in general is not about how much mass a person has... its more about speed and quickness especially the goalie!

well ill update after finals.. God I cant wait for may 6th!

Make sure you are getting in protein to keep your muscle mass... I generally go by the Body Weight x .8 for grams of protein per day. Seems to be working in the CUT... hope that helps or even makes sense.

3 eggs in the morning and 3 eggs at night before I go to bed usually does the trick lol...

the thing is though with hockey especially a goalie I only really do exercise plyo wise / weight wise for my core down... so its pretty much abs/quads/calf work outs.

That's about 39 grams of protein... at your weight (I think you said low 170's before) , you need to get in about 140 a day. I am sure you do get plenty in, but hitting all of the macro nutrients (especially protein) is key for maintaining LM. I am not talking about building or bulking... just in general for maintaining.

wow I thought it was around 100g's per day... Im sure with all the other food I am getting I normally hit around 100gs per day... do you have any link to a calculator that would say how many grams of protein for weight wise you have to intake per day?

Different ratios depending on your goals. I've spent some time at other forums (mostly bodybuilding.com) and have sifted through their forums (search there is VERY handy). For the most part, I can assume you and I are both on a CUT, I am taking mine clean... very little refined stuff. Don't get me wrong, I still use Uncle Ben's Rice at a meal, but it's usually the organic stuff now... a bit MORE gooder if you can call it that.

Yeah, protein shakes have become a staple of my diet EVERY day post workout. whether it's weight training/cardio, abs/cardio, or an off day... I pretty much down a shake that consists of over 50 grams of protein (with some BCAA's and creatine blended in). Helps make me feel like I am not constantly eating (getting the same protein from chicken would probably be about 8 oz cooked, good luck with that, considering you'd have to probably eat chicken somewhere else in the day for more protein, it makes for old hat).

Don't forget cottage cheese, low fat yogurt and skim milk. I love cottage cheese, but I guess it's not for everyone.

yuck @ cottage cheese!
Mark one in the not for cottage cheese column. haha

As long as it's edible, I probably love it... I think that's been my problem all my life. Now that I'm watching what I eat, I don't mind eating things that a lot of other people don't like (ie: cottage cheese, ryvita, brussels sprouts, etc...)

Oh, you're right about those as well... cottage cheese sucks though.

I eat LF yogurt everyday (60 calories per serving fit n lively or some crap) and I drink milk, but drinking calories sucks (90 cal = 8 oz, goes quick).

JD, off track, but I wanted to mention that I've seen your posts around here and I really think you've got some advice for people. Good stuff...
