1,100 and 1,000 might be kind of tough... but I'm going to keep these numbers in mind and see what works. It wouldn't be dieting if it wasn't tough!

I have to purchase a dependable scale! My scale now shows that I'm 120 pounds, LOL!!! I WISH...


I'll let you know soon. But I do think I have to configure this whole thing, the weight isn't shedding off...:mad:


i think it's because I've gone on diets before..and similar has happened. I lose a bunch of weight and then it stops. But who knows maybe I'm wrong and I have been losing weight. But i've been at this for over a month now! I'll let you know as soon as I check.


I started caloric cycling! But before you suggested good #s, I tried 1,600 for two days in a row...then 1,100, and then 1,100 again today...and so on

Hey Success...the food pics look great...very healthy and good portion control! Be careful on that new scale...Brawny77 had a similar tale and his new scale, while accurate and consistent was not the same story as his old one and the new one showed 5 pounds heavier...not the end of the world but a small mental setback.

BAD news!!!! Even though for 40 days now I have not exceeded the amount of calories I wanted to consume even ONCE, Today it all went to hell.


The day started well...(except I had no breakfast) but for lunch I had stir fry broccoli with peas, corn, carrots, and tofu. I thought dinner would go as planned. After going grocery shopping...I got a call from the rents. They wanted to go out to dinner. We went to a buffet...:ack2:


Now I didn't go entirely overboard or go all crazy...


but for starters, I did drink diet coke, which is the first time I've drank soda in 40 days...(HUGE for me..) but I had pasta w/ LOADS of olives (no good), mushrooms, garlic, onions, and pesto sauce. I saw the guy behind the counter making it...a huge table spoon of butter dropping on the pan, but i didn't stop him...after adding the mostaccioli he adds oil and vinegar.., i also grab a small slice of pizza with tomatoes, cheese, and mushrooms.


Second round...I had some chinese fried rice, 1 small tortilla with guacamole, and a small slice of cake. and a fudge brownie. :mad:


I could count this supremely high calorie day to help with cycling calories...but I'm sure that I probably ended up eating over 2,000.


Tomorrow I am going to try for a 800 calorie day. Same with monday.
 
Hey success...well...like you said, you didn't go 100% crazy...heavy on the carbs...yes, but not crazy! I bet you sleep like a baby tonight! Get back up and stick to your plan...800 cal's is realy low for a day...you may want to reconsider...it might backfire on you and make you go crazy again...just a thought.

I'd highly recommend not going back to the diet coke though...I'm convinced that stuff is addictive, not good for me and full of chemicals my liver has to spend time and energy getting out (and it does that instead of getting rid of my fat!). Don't get me wrong...I loved that stuff...but I've been off of it now for 8 months...and I'm really glad to be off of it!

The best thing I can tell you is "dont you quit"! You've come to far to go back now!

I agree with scbibhouse and you should go back to ignoring the diet soda. my doctor told me they read that they are discovering now that diet soda eats the calcium from your bones. Its nasty stuff. I wouldnt stress out to much about the buffet. when you consider your long term goals its barely a bump if you go back to eating right. I would at the very worst call it a cheat day and be done with it.

Total calories for the day 820... Plus I haven't slept the night before. I think staying up burned a few more calories. But maybe not. Either way, never happening again!

Sorry you didn't sleep...when I eat alot of carbs...it just zones me out and I sleep...hopefully you can get some good sleep and get back to your routine. I still really think 800 cal in a day is pretty close to a crash diet sweety...so watch out! Good job on the resolution to get away from the diet coke...I don't know what all it does...but I know none of it is good!

You are so motivated and determined, I love it. So disciplined about food. I don't measure what I eat, but I guesstimate and put it in fitday. Reading your journal, I think I am inspired to buy a food scale and be really discipline. I know you have had some tough weeks, but you will get through this. You have come this far. Will stop by again.

By definition a starvation diet is anything under 900 calories, but I think you'd have to do that for more then one day to starve ;) STILL, with the way calorie cycling is supposed to work you figure out your basic calorie needs for one week, 7 days, running a deficit from BMR + Activity. So, for example, I can eat up to 1600 calories a day for weight loss according to my calculations so 1600 X 7= 11200 calories. Now, to cycle instead of eating 1600 each day I'll eat low on more inactive days, say, 1100 calories because I'm petite and I can get away with it (if I was over 5'6" I'd not go below 1200). And on days I did cardio I'd eat up to 1700 calories with a higher percentage of those calories coming from carbs. On days I did strengh training I'd eat mid range, around 1300 calories with a higher percentage of my calories from protein. The only days I'd eat low would be inactive days. My total for the week would still come out close to my weekly goal though, otherwise one might risk your body holding onto weight instead of losing it. Cycling is to jolt the system and keep it guessing. If I ate 1500 calories everyday for weeks eventaully I would stall because my body would just go into a state of homeostasis. Cycling avoids that by keeping things interesting.
 
Did that buffet affect your sleeping?!?!!


If so, THAT'S CRAZY!!!!!! and I'd be damned curious to know how that happened...

Sarah- Thanks again! you're always encouraging and helpful. I'm back on track with the sleeping! Hopefully won't have another off day. 800 calories is for sure low! I don't plan on doing that again. It was just that one day to try and balance out the buffet meal. As always thanks for stopping by :)

Lauralee- I have absolutely no idea! Perhaps? It was the first day I didn't eat under my diet! Crazy stuff. We'll see if it happens again or if it really is related to my buffet ordeal!

Ahhh I ate a twinkie! that is the LAST thing i should eat on a diet. But I caved :( yuck!!!! Still stayed within calories for the day. but disappointed.
 
Isn't there a twinkine diet you can go on? Lol! I swear I think I saw an article about a college professor who lost weight on a junk food diet and ate twinkies and such all day.
