Success's Diary! 100 pounds need to go.

Hey Success, looks like you're doing really well so far!! If you are struggling to lose weight though, I would suggest it would be because you need to up your calorie intake, not lower it. I'm 5"7 and roughly what my signature says, and while I was injured I literally couldn't do ANYTHING for 2 months, so spent 2 months on my butt... But still to lose 1kg a week (2lbs) I had to eat 1300 cals a day- that's with no exercise and doing absolutely nothing except getting up to get food and go to the toilet! Because you weigh more, you could definitely get away with eating more... I use fitday (fitday.com, I have the program but the website is free to use) to track my calories, you need a deficit of around 1000cals per day to lose 2lbs a week. You can punch in all your details and it'll tell you roughly how much you can eat. Personally if I go over the 1000cal deficit I can't lose anything at all, so I'm eating around 1600 a day!! It's really about finding what works for you!!

Thanks so much ludafizz! I've actually been struggling with how many calories I should eat. I posted a chart and website in my first post that I've been trying to follow which suggested I start at 1,483 calories a day to lose 2 lbs a week. I don't know how well it's working! It's been 20 days...i'm down a few but i feel like my weight loss has slowed down. I will check out what you suggested :) Maybe bumping calories could help...I'll compare what the chart I looked at says in comparison to fitday and get back to you. Thanks so much for the info! Great job on your weight loss :) and I'll be in touch

Your eating time was messed up but looks like your calories were ok.

Its how we handle it when life throws us a curveball that is a real test for a healthy weightloss program.

I have a meeting tomorrow followed by a free lunch at a restaurant that I really like. Its buffet style....I have decided I won't go to the lunch. I'm not sure I could handle that curve ball.

Keep it up kiddo!

Thanks Brawny! You keep it up too. It takes discipline to skip out on the buffet because you know it's too much of a curve ball :) takes skill to even be able to tell that!

my mom previously told me it looked like i lost weight but today she said it sort of looked like i started gaining some again... i know she wasn't being rude and i know it doesn't have to be true that i'm gaining weight back but it did discourage me a little bit :)

Chin up, you're diet and motivation have been good all month and you've already dropped 10 lbs in a less than a month.

Gets a little tougher to stick with it after the first few weeks. Whether it's the slowing weight loss or the body struggling to adjust to the latest changes I'm not sure but I'm starting to feel it too.

Maybe throw in a couple new challenges or short term goals that aren't strictly related to weight loss to keep things fresh?

Thanks feeling goooder! I appreciate the kind words

I'm trying to stay up...got on the weight scale again! no weight loss

i should be losing 2 lbs a week! i don't know what's going on, i guess i'll still stick to it.

So it's 10 days since my last weigh in and it appears that I've lost NO weight.

not sure why :banghead:

it could be because I haven't worked out and have just been dieting? I mean i've walked for an hour on some days but haven't been getting on the elliptical like I was before. Also I've had a few days where I slipped up and ate a few things but it IS discouraging not having lost any weight at all?! I don't get it. I've been keeping under 1500 calories...

anyway i guess i'll keep going and hope for better results...

Hey success,

Don't get too discouraged about the numbers on the scale...(that's why I only weigh 1/month!, but I also take measurements 1/month about1/2 way through...just a thought!). My personal situation is, I know diet alone will not result in weight loss...I have to exercise...every one is different, but for me it's a package deal!

Keep up your good eating habits and throw in a few brisk walks along the way and I bet you'll see results!

AHello!
Eating too few calories can hurt you, too. Whenever I hit a plateau, I bump my calories up a day, eating 200 more than my normal goal for weight loss. The next day, I eat my dieting calories, then weigh myself on the third day. Instant results! It's like jump starting your system. If you eat the same amount of calories everyday, your body gets use to it and stops losing the weight. I've found that if I have that variance, I drop weight faster.
I know that different things work for different people, but I thought this might help. :)

I agree with Imaninjadangit, if you have a few higher calorie days with lower calorie days inbetween I bet you'll see results. Also, changing up your physical activity routine and adding more strength training could help. There are lots of reasons why we hold on to weight or don't lose, so chin up, and keep on keeping on, you'll see a loss. if you are consistenly holding out with a deficit your body has no choice but to lose. Now, later this week when I'm having the same sort of freak out please come visit my diary and copy/paste this in there so I can remember how wise I am today.

Thank you everyone for your kind words! :)

I will take these suggestions into account, and it is much appreciated!

Hey girl!

Try caloric cycling, if you dare. You seem to have all your ducks in a row, so easy for you to eat the same time? and/or meal everyday. For me, I unfortunately allow too much chaos to come into my life. Caloric Cycling, in a nut shell, would be like...1,000 calories for three days, then 1,600 calories for one day, and then 1,200 calories for 3 days, something of that nature, just keep yo body guessin'!

Those numbers were guestimates. Don't hold me to them! But gooooood luck =) I'm sure you'll find your niche!

Thank you guys! I've read about caloric cycling...I thought I'd have a while before I started doing that but maybe not! I'm going to eat as I have been for this week...and then starting next week I'm going to try the caloric cycling you guys suggested! Might have to bug you with questions, just a warning in advance...thanks again :)
