Breakfast: fruit and cereal bar
Lunch: ½ tin lentil soup, 1 brown roll on tuna
Tea: scampi, salad and oven chips
Supper: fruit juice, pear
Snacks: 2 Starburst
Exercise: 1 hour swim session (70 lengths)
Fizzy juice: none
Water: 4 glasses, 2 x 600ml bottle,
Fruit and veg portions: 4

Well considering I'd set this aside as a cheat day I guess I didn't do that badly. I was at work all morning so no time to eat then but came back home at lunch time and had half a tin of lentil soup along with a brown roll on tuna mayo.

Went to a theme park with my gran, mum and cousin so was wandering around all day. At night we went out for tea and wound up in this really awful little place that had hardly anything on the menu. I was starving and as there wasn't much choice I was left with scampi and oven chips with a side salad. It was a relatively small portion compared to a lot of places I've been to so I hope I don't gain anything.

I'm just about to head to the swimming pool to catch the last session, I'll pack in 50 lengths there and be sure to have only a piece of fruit for supper. My main aim is not to gain anything by tomorrow, I think I need to start weighing myself weekly because it's getting a bit annoying when I find I've gained something (even if it is only a measley 1/2 pound). At least if I weigh in weekly I'll be sure it's a loss each time with the rate I'm going at at the moment.

On a better note I did avoid snacking today!:)

Oh well hopefully by breaking my most recent record for number of lengths completed in an hour 64 broke my recird of 50 last week) I'm hoping the tea of scampi and chips doesn't come over too much. 70 lengths is now my new record! weeeeeee:D

You know, I read somewhere that athletic swimming is one of the best kinds of exercise for fat-burning, because of two things: the water's resistance which increases with speed, and also (and this is a personal theory) the water washes the sweat off your skin which makes it seem like you aren't sweating at all, and a person who feels fresher doesn't feel like quitting earlier!

Oh well my pet 1/2 pound has gone again. I'm now going to refer to it as my pet because it's a bit like a cat. Comes in when it's being fed then goes away for the rest of the time.:D

I am now back to where I started on Tuesday i.e. half a pound away from my first mini goal I hope it comes off soon.

I've just been to the gym and tried doing less reps but with heavier weights, I've a feel I nearly killed myself on more than one ocassion. I also decided to do the fitness test on the treadmil (run a mile as fast as you can). Thing is you aren't meant to do those if you've exercised first (I'd done 10mins of the rowing machine and 10 on the bike). Oh well I jogged the first half and ran the second half of the mile and did it in about 13mins. I really really hate running and I'm starting to think I should give it up and stick to jogging. My legs are just too short!

You can RUN????!!!! Then you are pretty fit, girl! I would not be able to either jog or run for more then a 100 yards! Guess all the exercise you're doing is paying off! Congrats!

I can keep running at about 5m p/h for maybe about 6 minutes but I don't enjoy it at all. I'm not sure whether I should keep going and try and do better or if I should just give up running altogether. hmmm decisions decision maybe I'll try running the mile having not done anything first and see if I find it any easier, it probably didn't help that I did a lot of lengths in the pool last night too.

Beagle it's funny actually last night I was thinking that once I'd completed the 70 lengths I could easily have gone on and did 100 altogether if I'd had the time. I did the 70 in an hour so I reckon maybe 100 within an hour and a half isn't too far fetched. I love swimming so much I could just do it all day. Me and my mum usually go at night around an hour before the pool closes. I'm going to start going swimming on a Thursday during the day so I can take as long as I like. My mum thinks that the fitter you are the less calories you can burn while swimming unless you really are pushing yourself.

I'm glad I've gotten better at swimming as there are other people I know that do it at the same pool as me and I used to go green with envy every time they asid they did 64 lengths which is a mile. I used to think they must have been in the pool for about 3 hours but now I know that's not the case and I'm glad I seem at least to be getting a bit fitter.:)

I think that's true with any exercise. I think as you get stronger and fitter your body does not have to work as hard and becomes more efficient at burning calories, so you end up burning less then when you just start. So you have to increase the difficulty as you go. 70 lengths is amazing! I can do about 4 and then I'm so out of breath, I can no longer swim! Good job!

Oh well I guess I'll just try and squeeze more lengths in every time I go. I remember when I first started out 24 lengths was a bad night and anything over 32 (half a mile) was good. Now my bad nights tend to be about 40 lengths and the good ones are 50-60. I'm so glad I've gotten to be better at swimming again, I used to be part of a club but gave it up years ago.:(

I think if I had a pool that was conveniently nearby I might go, but since I'm already in a contract at a gym that doesn't have one (but has a bunch of other really good equipment - plus TV on the cardio machines!) I may as well make good use of it.

Good on you though for pushing yourself! Maybe as part of turning up the calorie burning you could try swimming faster rather than swimming longer? Heh, I'm not much of a swimmer myself, usually when I go to the pool its just to mess around with friends rather than exercise, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about :p

I'm not writing much inthis entry as I have a serious attack of the munchies and am going to go to bed now before I eat something!:mad:

I had a wee go at counting calories and reckon I've stayed within 1200

Hey Crunchie! Thanks for stopping by my journal. You're looking good over here too. Way to go getting rid of 7lbs! Less than 20 to go, whoo hoo!

Well that half pound is now gone, I have no reached my mini goal of 7lb lost so I'm very pleased with that. Today I'm at work all day and I'll be doing a double gym and swim tonight so hopefully that'll help me a bit. I've set a new goal to be down into the 140's by the end of next week so I've got 4lb to loose in 8 days.:D

You can do it!! So what's that, 1750 calories you need to burn extra a day, aka half a pound.

Here's a helpful tool to gauge your daily calories burned. Just subtract what you eat from what you burn. Then add up the excess burned calories and divide by 3500, that will give you your percentage of weight loss per day.

Today I burned .52 lbs, which is about half a pound. The math works!

Don't forget to count your sleep calories and sitting through the day, even eating burns cals.

hey crunchie! looks like things are going pretty good for ya... glad to hear your "pet" 1/2lb decided to go away :D

have a great day!!

Crunchie, congrats on meeting your mini goal :D I know you can meet the new one too :D I love to swim but don't get to go often :( Kinda sad, really since I live on the lake, but I just don't have the time :rolleyes: Enjoy a swim for me :D

Have a great day!

Hey Crunchie I'm glad you have a goal to try to reach but 4 lbs in 8 days might not be a very achievable goal. I mean, if you make it, that is AWESOME, but if you don't, I don't want you thinking that you failed somehow. Like MissJellyBelly pointed out, that's almost an extra 1800 calories that you'll have to burn per day above and beyond your normal "maintaining" burn - which, unless I'm thinking of this wrong, basically means exercising the entire day every day for the next week, or not eating for that same period... and I'm not sure either of those is very good.

I just want to make sure that whatever you're doing for weight-loss, that you're doing it healthily - I'd hate for you to be less than fantastic :)

Breakfast: none
Lunch: cheese and pickle baguette (brown), large helping of grapes
Tea: chicken breast, salad, small baked potato
Supper: pear
Snacks: none
Exercise: gym session (350 cal), swim session (64 lengths)
Fizzy juice: 1 can diet irn bru
Water: 3 glasses, 2 600ml bottle
Fruit and veg portions: 4

Today I've not been too great with eats because it was very hot in work and I felt a little sick. I also noticed this morning that two baby birds had fallen off the roof of the garage next to our house so I had to bury one that had died and look for the other that was missing. As a result I completely missed breakfast but at least I found the remaining chick.

At lunch time I bought a nce brown baguette on cheese and pickle and had a wee tub of grapes to go with it. After this was when I started feeling pukey so for tea I had some chicken salad, baked potato and cloeslaw.

Afterthis I headed to the gym and swimming even though I was knackered. I managed 350cal at the gym (X-trainer = 50, rowing machine = 100, treadmil = 100, bike = 100). In the pool I done 64 lengths so not a total waste of time.

MissJellyBelly: Thanks for the advice, I'm starting to wonder if I'll manage to loose the remaining 4lb by next Sunday but even if I don't it's no great tragedy.

Jess393: I've a feeling my pet 1/2 lb might come back before I get this done! I hope it stays away at some point though, it would be nice if maybe my boss adopted it.;)

BizeB: I'm sorry to hear you don't get to the swimming as much as you like. The best swimming pool around here is half an hours drive away but I've been there 4 times this week, it's where my gym is too.

jelly belly88: Thanks for the message, I will certainly keep my diary updated!

Beagle: I seem to be shedding pounds quite fast after giving things like chocolate and fizzy drinks up. I'm trying to stick with 1400-1500cals a day but obviously today that backfired. I took part in the challenge last week to loose the 4lb in a week so didn'tthink the same but with an extra day was too bad. I don't expect I'll manage as my weight loss is slowing now after my first week but if I can loose 2lb a week or so I'll be very pleased!:)

My goal next week is to up my exercise though that might be difficult as I'm working pretty much full time next week. I hope to shed the remaining 2lb to reach my first goal of half a stone shed.

Here is my weekly goal from last week, I've managed to do both thankfully and did some exercise every day this week though I plan to have tomorrow off.

Sunday = long walk
Monday = Swimming
Tuesday = Long walk
Wednesday = gym and swimming
Thursday = gym
Friday = gym and swimming

My weekly goal for next week is to get rid 4lb to bring me down to the 140's again though I realise this might be hard but I still have tomorrow to loose a wee bit more.
