Glad you had a good weekend. As long as you get right back on track you NEED to have weekends where not everything is about food restriction and exercise!

Yesterday marked day 1 of my new juice fast. So far so good.
I am now shooting for 10 days - I decided finally - I couldn't make up my mind between 8 -15 days. I still want to complete at least 8 days.. & then see whether I can do another 2 days.

On Monday I had my "usual" 3 hour workout (I was still eating solid food) ! It was really not hard core though. 70 mins elliptical (easy setting), 25 mins weight training, planks, push ups, sit ups etc. & I finished up with a combo of treadmill (walking)(70 mins) & cyling (20 mins).

Yesterday it was first day of the juice fast. I felt really good. I even went for an hour walk on the outside track.

Today is day 2 - I am planning on doing light walking exercise for an hour again.

I am now researching whether I could do some toning exercise during the juicing - I only want to do about 10 mins a day on top of my walking. I just need to check my protein intake first. Fresh juices do contain enough protein for the RDA but I might have to add some kale etc so I could add 10 mins workout.

Good luck on the juice fast. When you're running or cycling on a fast, do you wind up going the same speed?

Justina, good luck on your fast! I would think that you could do some light toning during a fast, couldn't you? I can see why the cardio and strength building would need to be light, but I would think toning would be ok... but then again, i know NOTHING about juice fasting, so take my advice for what it is... rambling. :)
 
Holy awesome, I take a short leave of absence and here you are signing up for another fast!!! You are incredible. I cannot wait to tune in with this one...I know you will do absolutely fantastic on this, just as the last one.

As for exercise - I am taking it slow. After all I haven't eaten for days now. So yesterday I did an hour on the stationary bike, which was really convenient.
As for protein - (because of the exercise/toning etc) - I decided to add some spirulina/chlorella to my diet. Chlorella contains fifty-eight grams of protein per one hundred grams of weight. By comparison, beef and chicken have twenty-four to twenty-eight grams of protein per one hundred grams of weight. (naturalnews.com)

Today is DAY 3 of Juicing - and the scale is down to 245. New low. This is awesome considering I was up 249 after the weekend. I kinda knew "easy come easy go" will help me to get rid of weekend weight.

Here is my food for today. Unfortunately, an 8 ounce bag of kale is missing from the picture.

Today I am having:
Morning: Lemon water followed by pineapple-mint-grapefruit juice
Afternoon: Carrot-apple-lemon juice + water
Evening: Celery-Parsley-Cucumber-Kale-Apple-Lemon-Lime-Orange + water & herbal tea

I am planning on doing an hour of light exercise in the afternoon: probably walking.

Yesterday evening I had a bit of cravings but not too bad. I also considered quitting this weekend. But my husband decided to join me for Saturday & Sunday - so I might as well continue, right? I just want to make it to at least 8 days.

I also cook for my husband every day - it's not a problem :) only I have trouble knowing when pasta/rice is ready! I can't try them! So far there were no complaints!

Today I am down to 243.5!!! Oh yeah!!!! I have lost 30 lbs since January!!!! WOoohooooo!

OK, Today is day 4 of my juicing - that means I am half way through of my 8 day juice fast!!
I know I was gonna do it for 10 days but there is a Greek Festival next weekend & they have amazing food - I don't want to miss out. So I m stopping the juicing on Tuesday. I can add back different food group from Wednesday to Saturday so by Sunday I can have Greek food - I just love it!

Today I did 60 mins on the bike. I m feeling good: not hungry & no cravings.

From tonight my husband is doing the juicing with me for the whole weekend. Yippee! :coolgleamA:

Awesome work missy! I wouldn't pass up good Greek food either. I miss it! The closest Greek food to us is in another state! :(
 
Way to go, Justina! Wow, 30-lbs is awesome!!

Enjoy the Greek Fest. We have one in Portland that is great. I haven't been in a few years, but wouldn't mind going again. Shouldn't be hard getting my wife to go, as she lived in Greece for awhile.

Today is day 5 of my 8 day juicing fast. I am down to 242.5 lbs.
I am not doing so well today. OK, I am not hungry but I have bad cravings for solid food...somehow I am also craving Thai food (I haven't had any since I lived in the UK back in 2008). I blame Food Network... Yeah I was watching it in the gym today...because it is such a clever idea: juice fast & watch a food channel...duh? :nopity:

Gym time - treadmill for an hour.
Food - vegetable/fruit juices....water & herbal tea.

I can do this...I can do this...3 more days..

Day 6. I am struggling a bit today. Juicing is not fun anymore.
My husband was happy to give up after only one day on Saturday. He is back to solid food today. Only fruit & vegetables though.

Once I am done with these 8 days I don't think I will juice for a while (like a week).
The funny thing is I am actually craving vegetables:
in soup & oven baked!

I was juicing peaches today - they smelt heavenly - I just wanted to bite into them!
It was a bit of torture.

I already made the juices for tomorrow, so I am not about to give up now.

2 more days - I can do it!! I am determined. :hurray:

I am not actually hungry & I have plenty energy - I am about to go to the track for my walkies - but I just can't stand the taste of the juices anymore - even though I use a great variety.
 
Somehow I've missed commenting on your diary for a few days!! Good job with the juicing, you're so close to finishing, you can do it!! Great job on losing 30 pounds!

Hana, I think today's post will answer your question :)

It's day 7 - I am still disciplined - but not very enthusiastic anymore. I am sick of the taste of the juice (even though I use a great variety). I can tolerate water, lemon-water & herbal tea.
I am not hungry.
I am down to 241 lbs.
I have loads of energy.
My cravings are moderate.
I am just sick of the juice!

I went grocery shopping today. I bought some Parmesan cheese (for the basil pesto I make for my husband - I love making it from scratch) - it smelt heavenly.

I told my husband this morning: "That's it. I am giving up. I want to eat solid food tomorrow". He was like: "really? tomorrow is the last! You can do it. You have come so far." I am like... "hmmmmmm I want food!!" haha!

But in the end of the day it's down to discipline. I can do it. I can SO do it. I can't complain about hunger or headache or anything like that - because I don't experience them. I am feeling great. Just missing the pleasure of tasting & chewing good food. & I miss the taste of salt.

So I am going for it. One more day. Bring it on!

Now I am off to the gym! Bit of biking :)
