I am feeling calm at the moment. Have you heard of Bach Flower essences? I love them. Thank goodness for them, they are a miracle. I just wrote an email to you:)
 
Well, Bach was the guy who discovered it way back when.
Basically, flowers have energy in them that can be transferred to water by having them sit in sunlight for a period of time.
Each flower has a remedy for a certina ailment, wether emotional, or physical.
It's really amazing because after taking them, you will start to feel calmer and more able to deal with things, but it's such a small shift in how you feel that you almost dont realize it if you dont pay attention.
Their most famous remedy is the 'Rescue Remedy' which somes in a spray, or dropper. It's really great for stressful situations.
The essences come in so many varities, and help so many everyday problems that people have a hard time finding solutions to. The newest one i have found is the crab apple which "helps you to accecpt your physical imperfections and feel better about the way you are." Another one that my cousin got me is for greif.
I guess after taking them, I can describe how I feel as more focused, and things dont seem so unbearable.

This is a really great quiz to help find which ones would be good for what you need (if you need it) but make sure you take the quiz for adults, not animals or children.

Quick Q. Ive been talking to a few body builders (female and male) because im interested in taking it up now im past my main goal.
Anyway, Some of them have told me about comps, what they eat and do workout wise, and a couple were telling me about taking some thermogenics or something similar for about 4 weeks before the comps to get the body fat % down. Is this normal? acceptable? and if so are there ones to avoid or choose or is it better to use diet (CAN you do it with diet alone?).

Building the muscle doesnt seem to be a problem with me, but im worried a tad about taking pills :)

Thanks for this....I REALLY needed it today. For some reason, I drank FOUR cans of Pepsi today. Now I am sitting here feeling like crap because the sugar is making me ill and I am feeling even WORSE with the guilt of having drank them. I have not done anything remotely similar to this since I started dieting...so why now, I ask myslef.

But at least I know that tomorrow is another day and failing doesn't mean backpedaling. (Though I probably need to do a lot of some kind of pedaling to burn off this Pepsi):p

Wow, awesome news that you are thinking about getting into physique competition!!!! What kind of workout are you doing in terms of weight training? Are you still cutting weight or are you going to start trying to pack on muscle soon?

Regarding the "leaning out" process before a comp. It can certainly be done without the use of thermogenics. I have a good friend who is actually a women's physique coach. He has some national level competitors under him, IMO, he is the best in the business.

I will admit to be lax in terms of knowledge regarding thermogenics. However, I know that he (my friend from above) uses them for some of his girls and not others. I don't really stay up to par with the stuff simply b/c the people I cater to certainly don't need it.

However, I think if I were going to use them myself, I would use something like an ephedrine/caffeine stack. However, I wouldn't use one. I have no trouble getting very lean with whole foods alone.

My advice would be to NOT use thermogenics unless you find the need for them.

pardon my ignorance for a moment... but bulking is gaining weight -- cutting is losing weight as I think I understand it - -isn't that really stressful on your body to do that? I know you're not gaining weight by eating hohos and twinkies ad you aren't losing weight by reducing calories to nil.. but isn't that hard on your body? I mean the selfish side of me says your body is so pretty to look at... I wouldn't want to see it messed up :D

I tend to think not. At least I hope not, haha.

Many people think over-feeding your body shortens your life span as your body has to work harder to mobilize and breakdown food. However, all of the research I have seen is animal based. Does this even carryover to humans? And if it does, I still wouldn't buy the concept until they showed me an apples to apples comparison.

What I mean is, right now the animal testing shows, say, rats eating in a deficit in terms of energy with healthy foods. They are compared to rats eating maintenance and surpluses, but of unhealthy foods.

Huge difference IMO.

How about you compare it to rats eating a surplus of energy of the right foods. And add an awesome exercise regimen nto the mix. I mean, this is unlikely with rats, but think about it with humans.

It's not like I am over-feeding my body with junk. And it is not like I am sitting on my ass all day. I am certainly gaining more muscle than fat.

If my body has to work harder due to the increase in food intake, so be it. I have avoided most unhealthy endeavors my entire life. I watch a majority of the population smoke, drink, eat crap, etc. I am not too concerned with my health simply because I eat over maintenance with good foods.

Plus, I get an annual physical with an extremely clean bill of health.
