ok so day 2 almost over and it was hell those sugar withdrawls are really kicking in. It doesn't help that my mum has become semi retired and decided to become Betty Crocker with all her cakes and shit, and now she is doing Thai cooking classes so there is always Thai food in the fridge yum! I spent all day today op shopping (one of my fav hobbies) to keep my mind off of it and managed to find a vintage yves saint laurent clutch for $6 (real!) very exciting! anyway not a good season for cohhens, there seems to be a poor selection of fruit going at the moment I can't find netarines or peaches anywhere! but I have found a love of kiwi as well, they are so sweet they help curb the sugar cravings!

anway have a nice day everyone! happy losing xx

Hi Sam
I have to loose 32kg and i joined 27th Feb 2007 hoping it would only take 3 months but the more i talk to people i think it will take longer.

Cate my vitamins does have chromium on them only 1mg they are blackmores multi vit and minerals.

Thanks Minny i will write that down and i might try them the trouble is easter eggs of the kids still in the house other wise i would not have chocolate here.

I need help how do you get your ticker factory and date when you starte cohens on the bottom of the screen all the time.

Ezzy, in ur account settings you can edit ur signature, that is where you put ur ticker code and anything else you want to add, there should be a separate thread for it somewhere in the forum.

Don't feel too bad about the chocolate, it won't kill you, next time you reach for it though, think about how bad you felt this time and ask if it is really worth it, I agree with the others when they say you need all the chronium you can get, my consultant sells vitamins at the clinic, they are expensive but the have a 70% aborsption which is much higher then any others you can get. I am not sure what they are called as I am at my boyfriends house but I will let you know, perhaps that could be an option. Another good idea I have taken on is to microwave an apple with some cinnimon. I know it's not chocolate buts its yum, I always crave chocolate around that time of the month so thats what I do. Another awsome thing to do is to get some palmers coccoa butter or some yummy smelling body butter and go to town with it, lather it all over urself, it smells awsome and for some reason it helps me when I am craving something really naughty. Flavoured shower gel helps too, I use a shower gel that is called buttercream frosting- its amazing I feel guilty using it sometimes!

hope this helps xx

Hi everyone

Hi everyone, and welcome to those who have made the best decision to join Cohens.

Hi Vanessa, I know you said you are having a hard time with breakfast especially eggs and yogourt. I really love my poached egg on top of my favourite crackers-Finn Crisp Original Rye Crackers(made in Sweden) oh so filling and I feel like I'm eating a piece of toast. In terms of the yogourt I add the tiniest of drops of pure vanilla extract with vanilla flavoured splenda(I bought vanilla beans and split it and added it in a container with the granular splenda-the one that measures spoon for spoon to sugar and then some cinnamon. Sometimes if I'm going to be running around during the day-when time seems to fly by I'll add frozen mangos to the yogourt in the blender. Nice cold vanilla/cinn flavoured desert, although it doesn't seem to satisfy me like the egg.

Speaking of frozen mangos. Cate We can buy frozen mangos here, and I recall some people in Australia having a hard time finding them. If they're in season there why not freeze them. When you freeze them you need to freeze the chunks individually. I had cubed a mango and put it in a container and froze it and when I went to get it, it was one huge lump. Next time I'll cube it and place cubes individually on a baking tray and freeze. When frozen then place frozen cubes in a ziplock freezer bag.

Hi Lexie: In regards to the bowel thing. Try taking aciphodopholus capsules. It's the live pro biotic bacteria found in yogourt. Don't be afraid to take 2 capsules at the beginning instead of 1 (3x daily with meals)to jump start your system. Buy the one with the most # of bacteria and that needs to be refrigerated once open. Walmart carries it in the vitamin section or go to a health store. We also have a product here that's called Senakot. It's a natural laxative pill made from Senna. I think the slimming teas have Senna in them. Hope this helps.

Things for me are moving slowly. I was losing about 1kg a week and this week I only lost about 500gr. It could have been the smallest amount of chocolate I gave into this past Easter weekend. Saturday was my B.Day :D and then Easter Sunday and all that chocolate=my favourite. I still did better than I thought considering. My husband and I brought our own food to our families homes Good Friday, Easter Sunday and then my neices B.Day on Easter Monday. With the exception of the little bit of chocolate I had, we did well. Although now I'm craving it like crazy--PMS'ing but I didn't cave in.

sorry for the long post--Cheers to all and can someone tell me what LOL stands for--I think it's lots of love but not sure.

Joanne aka YM2B

Yummymummytobe, LOL stands for 'laugh out loud', though your version does sound nice. Re the vanilla, I'm pretty sure it's not allowed on the plan though you might like to double check that.
Cate, re the lemon/lime metamucil, this too I would check, I know we can have the capsules but not sure about the flavoured drink version.
Gosh aren't I putting a downer on things.:( To my knowledge the slimmers tea, metamucil caps, psyllum husk, benefibre, and coloxyl with senna are all okay to have when constipated. Recently when I was feeling extremely constipated I took a combo of Benefibre, metamucil caps and a couple of coloxyl with senna, eventually things moved and all seems well at the moment. It seems to be something that does hit many of us down the track rather than earlier on. Good luck with it Lexie.

It is great to see some of the people who have been on the forum in the past back on regardless of the cause of absence, just the fact that you have come back despite weight gain (or not :) ) is significant especially to many of the newbies who might be discouraged if they go through similar situations. All is not lost just because you've deviated. Deviating is not a failure, failure is when we don't get back on the plan and give up.

Nans, so good to know you're back on your feet, it will be interesting to see how your weight went due to the illness.
Lauren

Joanne - I'm 100% sure that we aren't allowed vanilla - either beans or extract in our plans. It's strickly stated in the guidelines. I eat my yoghurt plain coz i love it, but a few times in the first week or so I put a few drops of 'Sugarless' liquid sweetener (which is allowed) with the tiniest bit of coffee powder and it was like a beautiful capuccino dessert. Maybe you could try something like that instead of vanilla or even you could add some cinnamon or something. But yeah, Vanilla isn't allowed on the plan. Also i'm not too sure about those crackers you mentioned. They aren't on our lists here either, or are they just a USA thing? We can buy frozen Mangoes here from the supermarkets but you would have to defrost it to weigh it and to me that's a pain in the butt. You'd be better off getting them fresh, weighing them yourself and then freezing for later, just to be safe - so you're on the right track with that one!. Keep going hun, you're doing really well.

IchooseLife - Not sure about the Vitamin C. Might have to check with your consultant on that one, unless someone else on here knows.

Just did a quick ticker update (had a sneak peak at the scales this morning...lol) and i've lost a kg since Tuesdays weigh in (away on Monday). Yay for me....

Happy losing everyone.

Hey people,
you're all doing so well.

I have just started taking Bioglan Blood Sugar Balance as I was struggling with the sugar craves and now I feel great. No desire at all to pig out. Worth a try. You can get it at the chemist for around $12 to $13.

On the constipation thing! The kiwi fruit works a treat. I cut my kiwi in half then slice a thin slice with the skin and eat that first. Also the slimmers tea from the health food shop helps, but don't have too much as one or two cups work well. I usually have one cup before bed and another in the morning and it clears me out.
Lexie- On the refeed front, I am on day 11 and have been having 3 bread a day (Bakers Delight wholegrain) and have had no probs whatsoever. Hope it helps!

It was good while it lasted

:( Hi Minny. Thanks for the info on the vanilla. I still will keep the vanilla bean in the splenda-it really just gives it a scent more than anything and I will stop using the vanilla extract although I don't see the difference between a cinnamon stick and a vanilla bean but I'll stop using the extract. I actually thought about putting some instant coffee in my yogourt-I'll give it a try next time. In terms of the mango, for some reason here in Canada my list just stipulates a small mango without a weight. I normally just put a few cubes of frozen mango in the blender with the yogourt and cinnamon and splenda then stick it in the freezer for a while-it's like having ice cream. :D One time a put a whole mango in and I didn't like it-it was too much.

In terms of the crackers, because we do everything on line it gave us some guidlines for crackers with a few examples. The ingredients are very similar to the Ryvita dark rye crackers but with less ingredients-just wholegrain wheat flour and rye flour. If you're interested I can give anyone the breakdown on the crackers in terms of ingredients and Nutritional value. I don't think I can give these crackers up. They are the best!

Thanks for your words of wisdom and I hope I can stay out of the chocolate:eek: Those PMS cravings are killing me right now.

Ciao healthy people
Joanne (YM2B)

Hi everyone,

Well i am paying for eating the chocolate today i have a headache like when yu first start your diet. Not a good feeling.

The good thing thoe i measured myself this morning and i have lost another 10cm so that takes it to 46cm lost in 6 weeks. Dont know about my weight i only weigh in when i go to the clinic which will be on the 24th.

Thanks jools for your advice on the tablets.

wow fantastic effort Ezzy on the cm loss

I was all fired up last week, breezed through Easter, and now this week I'm flat and tempted at every corner. Wish Cohens had something to deal with the mental reason I;m fat in the first place

I know where you are coming from Ichooselife dealing with the mental problems. This weekend is hard for me i am at work all weekend i manage a motel when owners go away and if it is not busy u just sit around. I can not go anywhere once i am here i am stuck untill they get back.

Ezzy 46 cm in 6 wks. Wow!:D I'm sorry my post re choc.sounded like a lecture. I re-read it & was embarrassed. I hope your headache goes soon. Have you been to the tickerfactory.com site & then not been able to add it in here? I will try to find the forum thread that helped me & will let you know.
Joanne Thanks for the mango freezing idea. I'll try it. I wonder if there's a Mango Addicts Anonymous?
Minny Love your coffee yoghurt idea. I found the only natural yoghurt that I like is the Vaalia. I have it with 1 mango portion. It really fills me up.
Lonniecee Whoops-thanks. I'll check this week about the Metamucil powder. I have my 12 wk blood test on Monday.
Coming into this forum is great for my motivation. Thanks all, cheers, Cate.:D

Ezzy Found it! Go to weight-lossforum.com/newcomers/, go to 3rd thread called Sticky" How to work tickers", click on first page, follow asyoz's instructions. it's the BB code that you will copy & paste.xo Cate

YM2B/Joanne on our plan we can have 150gm mango, I just cut it of the nut and scoop out of the skin to the 150gm mark, we can have 160gm Kiwi fruit and 180gm honey dew melon and paw paw. Everything else on our list is specified as medium size, hope this helps.
