I definately need some inspiration. It is so close but yet so far away. Weigh in this morning was 73.3. Didnt have a very good weekend. Didnt drink enough water and on saturday i had BBQ shapes. Like only 6 but I still had them :( I need this challenge to focus again.

Hi All,

Windy Blue / YummyMummy thanks so much for your breakfast ideas! I tried the mushrroms with Mozerella in a muffin tin and it was delicious... and filled me up too! Breakfast was my favourite meal of the day before I started the program and im finding it hard to give up my museli and vegemite on toast!! :) :)

Ichooselife I totally understand about what you are saying about your 2 different personalities.... Im exactly the same!! its like when Im at work or just before i go to bed im really motiviated and want to eat right, exercise etc etc and then when i get up the next day i think i can just start tomorrow! Let me know what you think about the counselling (private if you want) cause I have thought about it many times myself. People get counselling and help for bulemia and anorexia .. so why not overeating??!!

Another quick question - has anyone ever used that new concept gym - CURVES? A friend of mine has recenetly joined and loves it but i was wondering if anyone here has actually tried it?

Anyway just wanted to say thanks cause reading the forum everyday really motivates me to stick to the program.... I really love hearing how well everyone else is doing too!!

Happy getting healthy!!

Cheers
Ness

Ness333 - I was a member of CURVES gym for a few months before i started Cohens it was really good, its a circuit made up of 12-13 machines and they target all the muscle groups so your whole body gets a workout, you go around the circuit twice and the machines are hydraulic pressure so depending how hard you want to work out the intensity can vary :)

All the people are really nice and you make great friends there and get really motivated, you also have the option to get measured and weighed whenever you like at no charge and they will make up a chart and record everything for you to see how your going.

I lost about 3.7 kilos in about 6 weeks (i was going about 4-5 times a week) but when i started cohens i found that i just couldnt do the circuit, i tend to push myself when i workout so i thought it could of been that, but even when i was doing the circuit at less intensity i would feel very sick, i would get faint and nauseous and had to stop.

This is because the food we get at cohens simply does not give us enough calories for fueling our system for excersise, Our food and multi vitamins pretty much feed our body for the day so our body burns up all the fuel!!(and then some FAT yippee!)

Also Dr Cohen suggests that if you werent doing exercise before, its best not to try to start now! u can make yourself sick OR even if you feel fine during the workout (not sick like i did) then it can stimulate hunger which leads to deviations!!

I hope i gave you the information you wanted :)

Happy Losing xx

FatCat thanks for the advice. Before Cohens I was doing exercise about 3 days a week but it was majority cardio so I was thinking that something like curves would still give me the excercise I need but not the intensity of alot of cardio.

Thanks for your help... I have a consultation tomorrow so well see how that goes!! :)

Cheers

Hi guys, eveyone's doing so great.

I'm just wondering does anyone here see a counsellor too in regard to weight loss or being overweight? If you dont' want to say please message me. I'm interested in this path.

I'm so glad I have this forum.

Hi,
I did some counselling a couple of years ago to deal with some of the issues that were holding me back from losing weight. At the time, I didn't lose any, but I did feel much "free-er", and I noticed less emotional issues/depression losing weight this time than when I lost weight in the past.
So, I would recommend it!! I actually saw a friend who was finishing her clinical psychology training and needed someone to "practice" on!! But it was very interesting to see the different issues that were raised during the sessions. Some which I didn't think had any link to weight, but ended up being quite significant.
So, go for it!! Its worth getting rid of that excess emotional baggage at the same time as you are getting rid of the physical baggage!

Hi everyone, I used to post a bit but fell off the wagon. I'm back and it's nice to see some familiar names who have completed or nearly completed the program, It's so inspirational.

Hello Again,

Thank you all for your help. I got my bloodwork order this morning... need to find the closest lab and get that done.

Thanks Again,
Lam (Lori)

Thanks for that HeavenlyLamb.. it's an avenue I'm now persuing.

Welcome back Louise. I've only just recently come back too. Better to come back then not I say.

Anyone else finding it near impossible to get cauliflower at the moment? It's become my substitute for potato and without it I'm feeling lost.

Hi everybody, I just wanted to introduce myself real quick. I'm 34 y.o. German living in NYC, being happily married to a great man, and unfortunately having gained about 24lbs. in the past 18 months. Some of it is due to a thyroid malfunction, which I'm trying to get a hold on now, others is due to shameless eating and drinking. I feel horrible and have made up my mind that the weight has to come off--I discovered the Cohen's diet just today and have a couple questions about it, so bear with me if they have been asked over and over before.
I once started the Total Wellbeing Diet after a book from Australia, and liked it. On a first glimpse, the Cohen's diet seems similar--has anybody done the Total Wellbeing Diet before?
I have two more months before going to Italy for 3 1/2 weeks--is it worth starting now or shall I do it when I get back?
I work out five days a week with a personal trainer (another attempt to fight the fat), but read on here that Cohen's and gym don't mix. Is that true?
Last but not least, I'm confused about the cost. On the official website, they say "Your personal diet program based on your blood test results and with a 12 weeks support comes at a rate of US$249. (Prices are subject to change without a prior notice)." Is that per week, per month, or for the entire 12 weeks?

Again, sorry for the many newbie questions and thanks in advance for tips and tricks...

Welcome back Louise and Dede.. good for you getting back on track..Good Luck with it.

Lam.. glad you have joined, you won't regret your decision..just stick to the program 100% and you can't go wrong.

Also welcome Ness..good luck to you.

EasyElvis- I lost 30 pounds in two months and most people doing Cohens have done the same if not more so I recommend you start NOW- if you only have 24 pounds to lose then it is very achievable to do in 2 months before you go away.

Have a great Cohens Day everybody:)

Easy Elvis,
Start the program! You will definately lose all 24lbs in two months..the 249.00 is for the entire 12weeks with support throughout and if you need to beyond the 12weeks it is 179.00 for each additional 12week segment you add on..I too had a thyroid problem couldn't lose on many diets I experimented with and am happy to announce this one finally worked I have lost 35 lbs since Jan7 and my thyroid is now the opposite hyperactive instead of hypothyroid(low) so that was a miracle in itself having to drastically reduce my meds from this program...all i can say is go for it!!! it works!!! as long as you follow it to the T and end it with the re-feed stage...if you don't do the re-feed at the end you will gain all your weight back you will read about it in your guide you receive...come on board with us!!!

I just registered. I'm getting excited, even though I tend to not follow diets very strictly. But maybe if I start seeing results early, it'll be encouraging.

Good luck Easyelvis, but my advice is to do everything you possibly can to stick to it 100%, because even the slightest deviation will set your weightloss back by 1 week. It's not worth it. I used to be the same..would stick to a diet for a week and then start to deviate and within 3 weeks, i'd have given up because i wasn't losing anything. Cohens is the first program where i'm seeing great results, and i'm sticking to it 100%. I've been on the program for 6 weeks now and haven't deviated once, and quite frankly, I don't want to.

The first few days are hard, but once you get past them, it's smooth sailing. Just be strong and stick to the plan, and you'll lose that weight in not time. Good luck....

It almost sounds too good to be true, but I guess it really works.
One last question: How long does it take from registering until you can actually start? I don't know how it works, but does the lab send the test results to a NY office, and they'll send the plan to me?

Hi All,
Welcome to all the newbies. Good luck with your journey. I am sure you will find this forum very helpful and very inspirational. I did and do.

Official weigh in today down to 72.8 and down 65cm (measuring only cohen parts) that sounds a bit strange doesnt it :)

Easyelvis - not too sure with that. Hopefully one of the 'losers' from the US can help you out there. Not sure if you've seen it yet, but there is also a thread for those in the US....That might help you out as well...good luck.

Hi Easyelvis,
I've been on this diet(although I don't like calling it a diet)It's a lifestyle change and one for the better. This has been the easiest "diet" to follow, with the exception of the first week, which is the hardest hurdle to overcome. I've been on this diet for 8 weeks now- will weigh myself in a few days(period started) but as of Sunday I was down to 134lbs (25lbs) :D Maybe this will help you decide whether to start before going to Italia. The one thing you need to decide though is if you'll have enough time to do the refeed which is the most important part of the "diet". If you get started now-because you need to get your blood work done and fax over and then reviewed before you get your meal plan (I live in Canada and this process took me about 2.5 weeks)although being in U.S. you don't have to get a blood requisition from your family doctor as I did, you can just go to the blood clinic tomorrow if there's one close to you, so that will save you some time.
In terms of the gym- I wouldn't stop if you are consistently going. I know others have said that they don't have the energy, but I'm opposite. I love going to the gym. I feel great afterwards. I find it surpresses my appetite and that hour in a half at the gym, gets me thinking of other things besides food-especially when you look at all the beautiful bodies at the gym. I find it motivates me and stops any deviations. I'm also doing bellydancing and don't laugh but "pole dancing". I go between my last two meals, so I'm eating my last meal after coming home from the gym.

I hope this helps and the people on this site are a wonderful inspiration and answer all questions. They are a wonderful bunch of people. The majority of the people here are from Australia and New Zealand(am I right?) but they have welcomed me with open arms and caring hearts and "smaller stomachs;) "LOL:D

Ciao
