Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
For Dreamer

Hi Dreamer

I started the program in 2005, had a 12 month contract and then found out that I pregnant after four weeks!!! (It's supposed to be great for fertility but I wasn't expecting it to be that quick!) I told them immediately and they organised for me to hold the program until I was finished the pregnancy. After breast feeding I again contacted them and told them that I wanted to restart only to be told that the Wembley branch was closing the following week. When I was insistant they contacted the Booragoon branch and had me transfer there. If you are still in the contract period could you not try the Booragoon clinic (which is Cohen's head office)?

Good luck

Way to go Fatcat!!!!!!!!!!

:D What a legend! congratulations!!
Enjoy the 14's at this rate you won't be in them long!!

Living in the 70's!!!

Today I have said goodbye to the 80's and I'm into the 70's - 79.5kg!! Yippee!
My aim is to lose 1.5 kilos in the next week, so that I go to Europe next Sat well and truly in the 70's. I hope to maintain my weight in the 2 weeks I'm away. I doubt that I will lose much while I'm away, because we will be doing restaurant meals every day for work, and I don't have any control over lunches that are being served etc. (i have asked for healthy options) and its not like a sightseeing tour where I'd be doing lots of walking. So, my goal is to maintain weight, but to stay well and truly in the 70's!
Yesterday, I have had 2 people tell me I've lost enough weight. (one of them was the owner of the cafe next to my work that I used to frequent - so I think they just want my business back!!) So, I guess that's now the challenge of the next 20 kilos - keeping focused and on track and not being satisfied with where I am now!.

Get into the groove

Hi HeavenlyLamb,
Congratulations in making the 70's bring on 60 and you will realy be groovy baby. :) :) I'm sure you will do wonderful while you are away. You seem to have the right attitude. I think if i was in your position, I would see it as being a way to see how i would go after i finished. Thats whats realy importand, keeping the weight off once i finish and making good chocies then with food, exercise, attitude ect.:p

Thanks girls..I had to laugh cause no matter the answer I had already eaten it minus the stone weight. I even had the gall to say to my husband oh this is too much when I weighed with the stone...Do you want half? and then eat the lot poor boy.
Weighed myself today 10 days in starting weight of 109 today 103. The great thing is that it isnt all that hard to stick too ....I will have no rolls by October.

Hi there Heavenly Lamb, (what a cute name)

Congratulations on getting to the 70's, you might find that whilst on your working holiday that you may get a suprise when you come back. It seems a lot of people who go off the diet for whatever reason don't gain an excess amount of weight. And seeing how you have lost so much already I tend think that your gonna do great.

Way to go!!! 70's yeaha!

It wont be long and you'll be in the 60's... :)

I'm back and feeling great!

Gosh! It's finally Friday! I've been working past midnight the last couple of nights I haven't been able to catch up on this forum. Plus the Internet connection in my office was down for two days.

But so super nice to come back to all these tips from so many people and positive thinking!

It'll be a week tomorrow since I started Cohen's and I'm feeling so much better.

Just to clarify, I think the type and amount of each type of food we each can eat varies. I can have only 1 tomato a day, no more than 1/2 each meal. All the garlic I want but max of 2tbsp of onions each day. Cheese everyday but feta once a week. No more than one meal of fish OR chicken OR tofu once a day but I can eat beef twice a day...which is different for my husband who can eat fish or chicken every lunch AND dinner if he fancies! Arggh!

An update on doing the program together as a DINKs (dual income no kids) couple - Shopping and cooking together was fun the first few days but it took a lot of effort to not confuse ourselves over who can eat what. We're now cooking separate meals on weekdays but will eat the same stuff again on weekends when we get more creative and be less functional.

Argh! I'm becoming an "eat-to-live" type! :p

But I will just have to bite the bullet and scrape something up when I reach about 80kg or so. And like you said, as long as the scales go down, that's all that matters right now! :p

Dreamer - you have my support - you have paid for the advice in the first place. It is a free country and you are allowed to eat as you please. This forum is meant to be supportive and I intend to support anyone who wants to fight obesity.

With you all the way.........:D

Hello dreamer

I'm with you to, i'll support you all the way... I think some of the comments left for you were way harse and very unsuportive,,, i think you should contact the clinic ans she what they can do after all your going to need a refeed programme for stabalization, but if they can't help you, try joining when you have the cash..

I'd be pissed if i had to re pay out the money. especially when other bills need to be paid. good luck with everything and I hope certain people haven't scared you off.

Deviation is painful

Thanks Dreamer! Wow! 34kgs in 4 mths! I want this program out of my life as soon as possible. I'm likely to visit Melbourne for work then a holiday in June and I want to be able to shop all i want 'cos I love aussie brands!

That said, I deviated at dinner 'cos my best friend from australia has returned to work again in Singapore. And it has such a painful aftermath I don't think i'll do it again anytime soon. My stomach's churning like crazy and crampy, and I'm burping like a sick baby :p

And I've another dinner function to attend next week but I'll stay the course - have my Cohen dinner before going then have only diet coke and tea over "dinner". In fact, I've a breakfast meeting tomorrw and I'll do the same.

Oh yes! To further minimize chances of failure, I happily declared my weight loss ambition to half the office who noticed something different because I:
1. donated a basketful of tidbits to the pantry from my private stash;
2. stop joining in those "consolidated direct orders from the food warehouse" type of activities
3. bring home-cooked food for lunch
4. lost my tummy already! :p
And I've posted a colorful New Year Resolution 2007 chart on my wall and top of the list is lose 26kgs!

Staying positive!

not my day

sorry to whinge again but here goes.

I just spent 10 minutes writing a long sorry list of my woes only to find I had been logged out by the time I tried to post so I lost it all.urgh don't you hate that.

Heres the short version, again

congrats to all on your stunning weightloss.

I am depressed. I have lost 2.8kgs in 12 days on this diet and I'm not happy Jan. This was supposed to be rapid weightloss?I know I'm not supposed to weigh all the time but this is ridiculus at this rate it'll be xmas before I get to goal.

saying that I went out last night to a BBQ and nothing passed my lips that wasn't supposed to. I was trying to be inconspicuous as I hate being a diet bore so I tried all the 'no thanks I'm on a Dr diet' etc etc. They all thought I was pregnant.Aaargh.

I am being soooo good .Better than I have ever been on any diet before and I am losing it sooo slowly.Any ideas anyone??
I drink all my water, eat exactly what I'm supposed to.weigh to the nearest gram.HELP please before I fall off the wagon.:(

hey katydidnext!

Dont worry, i know exactly how you feel about a slow weight loss. I only lose 1kg a week on average and its doing my head in too! When i started the program, i started with an unrealistic expectation that i was going to drop 3kg a week (which is what i did on my first week), and now im cruising at 1kg since Week 2 (just starting week 14 now).

What you need to realise that 2.8kg in 12 days is a fantastic achievement, go to your fridge and pull out a tub of margerine - you have lost 6 tubs of margerine in 12 days! Look at all that fat thats gone from your body!

Even though you might have a slow weight loss, you are still having a weightloss - people lose at different rates. Ive found through browsing the forums that people with lots more weight to lose, lose it faster than those with not as much to go. How much more weight do you have left to lose?

Dont fall of the wagon hun, it might be slow - but its worth it. In 6 months you can be there! You can be the skinny little minnie that is the inspiration for all the cohens girls. Dont deviate. Believe in yourself, your capabilities, and your strength to see the program through.

Katydidnext,

There can be a number of things that may be happening with you:

Are you close to that time of the month? I usually lose nothing for at least a week before, if so it is absolutley minimal.

Have you consulted your clinic? Maybe something isn't right with your diet?

Have you lost cm's but not the kg's? I only ask this because some people lose heaps of cm's and little kg's to start with or vica versa. I lost the kg's but not the cm's... I found that disheartening too.

Is your thyroid ok?

Some people lose at a slower rate than others. But at least there is a loss. Another lady on this forum loses a kg at a time I usually lose 1.4kg-1.6kg a week on average.

Your body is supposed to work in monthly cycles, hopefully your weigh in and blood test will show amazing results. Lets face it any loss is amazing, because it is heading in the right direction down. :)

Lets keep reading these posts together and use the inspiration of others to stick to it. It would be a shame to not follow through with the program and after having had a loss having a gain. It is so dishearting when the scales go up let me tell you!

To Weigh, or not to Weigh

I deviated yesterday.

I've only been on the program for a week.

I don't own scales, and don't know how much I weigh now - whether my one week on Cohen's made any difference whatsoever. I was tired, lethargic - but not hungry or craved anything - and I was quite willing to put up with being tired IF it was going to help me towards my goal. (I understand the lethargy passes).

BUT if that's the case - then shouldn't I be keeping an eye on my goal - at least have a set of scales in the house to weigh myself? Surely it's motivating to see the scales decrease, "play the numbers game" if you will.

However - so many of you have expressed frustration at comuplsive weighing.

I suppose my query is whether weighing will help me keep on track, as I have a daily reminder of what I'm trying to achieve - or whether it will frustrate the situation and cause me to deviate or just be unhappy.

Perhaps it's just a personal thing?

What do you think?

2.8 kgs in 12 days is almost exactly what I experienced - I am now at 14.5 kgs lost after 10 weeks (so I average 1.45kgs a week) This may not sound like much to you, however the weeks go by and soon enough you are getting comments and your thighs rub together less. Yes sometimes I become impatient and then suddenly the scales go my way again. That is the problem with constant weighing and I am guilty of that. I have battled hormone problems for years and feel these are probably still working against me slightly.

Patience and planning are the key to success on this plan - not losing fast enough is no reason to fall off the wagon - cos the wagon will keep going and you want to be on it for the ride.

After a few weeks the plan becomes so automated that I had no desire to deviate- it just takes a little while for your body and your head to adjust and then you'll be right.

You are not a bore if you are trying to better your lifestyle and I'm sure your friends would be supportive.

CD

I am a compulsive weigher and yesterday I too deviated. I was so happy with myself for hitting a goal that whilst I had friends and family here I decided to indulge, more than I should have!

I am too disappointed in myself as it has only been a week and I couldn't make it.. :(

But back on the horse today moving forward I can't do anything about yesterday only regret and be guilty which will most likely result in another deviation so I think it's best to forget it ever happened. Besides being so sick today I'd rather forget it.

I really thinking that weighing everyday is a personal thing, but I find that for me it is a positive inspiration to see the scales move even if it's only a small amount. I do try and only weigh every other day but sometimes I weight morning and afternoon and night. Talk about compuslive!!!!

Good luck

Faithie

Together we can get back on this horse!

thanks everyone. Of course you are all right. I actually felt better even after just writing it down. I thought my clothes last night seemed bigger and I know my belly is a lot flatter. I have had to prod my hubby to tell me how well I am doing, but last night when we got home he said he thought I looked thinner, but like he said, my clothes have been so tight on me for so long it will take a while for the cm's lost to show.
Carpe Diem- it is a hard question to weigh or not. I need it to keep the motivation going and as much as it aggrevates me when the scales don't move at least they haven't gone up yet. It is a visual reminder everday that you need to be good.
I'm hoping that some of the slowness to drop the weight is that this week was my monthlies and I always retain water the week before and the week of my monthlies so I expect a bit more of a loss these next 2 weeks.I've also been taking bags of cold and flu tablets and codeine based painkillers this week due to a rather bad flu.Does anyone know if antibiotics play havoc with your weightloss?
thanks for the support guys.
