A big collective cheer to Lessfatty, Fatcat, Ichooselife for their continued great progress and attitude (very inspiring for us newies.

At the end of week 2 it was good to measure and see the cm's fall and thanks to the receipes on site easy to keep bordom at bay.

I haven't felt hungry yet and do feel its a struggle to finish the 3rd meal which considering my usual pm grazing habits is odd but very good!

Hi Tanya:D

Welcome to Cohen's Forum look forward to hearing how you go.
I have a cousin who lives in your neck of the woods and I am planning to tell her about Cohen's after re-feed. She has alot of weight to lose she loves her sweets not a big eater in general but she gains quickly due to her small height and frame.

As you must already know this is a very supportive forum and I am extremely addicted to it at the moment but I get alot of my motivation and inspiration from the wounderful people here. Don't be shy to query anything we all learn from each other here.

This morning was tough...

*Negative content alert - I just need to whine a little as I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself* sniff sniff :(

Since I started Cohen's on Saturday, I've been dreading breakfast. This morning was the worst - I had a mashed hard boiled egg (with a bit of low-fat mayo, salt and pepper), lettuce and yucky celery. I HATE celery. I'm getting sick of lettuce. I'm ready to gag...

I'm lacto-intolerant so yoghurt is out for me. I probably can stomach cheese - I need to try out this weekend.

I really have to get creative with my egg and veg option.... Boo Hoo Hoo!!!

The only motivation is that the weighing scale is telling me I'm on track. My hubby has no issue with food as he's a "eat-to-live" type of guy - gobble and be done with it.

Ok. That's about as much negativity as I'd allow even myself. I'm looking forward to beef patties for lunch :p

I don' know if that is part of the program but I've been doing it for 2 weeks now officially and 3 unofficially and I am getting to be the same about food. I just eat whats in front of me. I think this might be part of the psychological part of the diet. By the end of it I would imagine you become an 'eat to live type person'
Luckily I love yoghurt and have it every morning without fail. While I have had tonsilitis it has been an extra boon because the yoghurt soothes my throat.
Problem is I am bored with the meals too. I think I need to start experimenting abit. I have cut down my lettuce and added more mushrooms and cucumber so there isn't such a great amount to consume. This could have to do with my flu too so I'll worry a bit more after this has gone.
I must say though its TTOM and I'm still losing. I am dropping cms every day and I lost another .2kgs in thelast 2 days, so I'm stoked. I just hope I can keep going for the duration.
and windyblue, this is the place to complain and vent cos we are all in the same boat, and I don't know about you but I always feel better after writing it down.

Hi Dreamer:)

My programme says Mushrooms(fresh or canned in water) that's all.

Hi Windyblue:)

Have you tried one of the alternate meals on the programme you can have meal 2 or 3 for breakfast if you have time for preparing or do this the night before.

Just remember you can't have two or more meals from the same groups.

I suppose it must be part of the differentation, cause the little yellow laminated purse size list of foods i was given from the clinic say "Mushrooms - Not Champignon".

Hi Dreamer

They are button mushrooms and are the smallest of their variety so they are fine to eat. Yes and your right they are the only ones canned.

Thanks for the Support!

Thanks for the support and suggestions folks! I'm about to have lunch so I'm feeling much happier already :p

I have three options for breakfast - yoghurt, egg & veg, or cheese & veg. I tried yoghurt one morning and my tummy rumbled like it was the end of the world because it can't digest lactose very well. So I've been doing egg & veg.

Since I'm stuck with egg & veg, I'm going to try that egg pancake thingy Dreamer suggested and see how it goes. Also going to be recipe hunting online - i realize that the recipe collection on different Cohen sites are slightly different.

I'm wondering - my husband and I are losing weight very quickly in this first week of the program - 3 kgs each since we started on Saturday. Does this rapid weight loss last or does it slow down?

Hello

The first 10 days for me was the biggest amount i have lost to date... it was 6 kilo's in those ten days, so for me it has slowed down since then, hope that helps, i do lose on average 200 grams a day sometimes more like the last two days i have lost 400 grams each day but i didn't lose any the week before, i think this is why the clinics recomend monthly weighing.

Hi WindyBlue,
Most mornings for Breaky I fry up my allowance of veg - zucchini, asparagus and mushrooms and the break an egg in the middle of it, I really like gooey yolks thats why I do it that way instead of omlette style - it's pretty yum.
Usually for most people the wieght drops off quickest in the first month due to water retentian loss, and loss of glycogen stores (also you body works in 4 weekly cycles) I lost 7.5kgs in the first month, then after that (if I didn't deviate and slow down my progress) I lose about 1.4 - 1.5kgs consistantly each week. So yes it does slow down but it is still pretty rapid weight loss overall.
Your both going really well!! You will get there in no time!

Does anyone eat gem squash? It seems to be the black spot on my vegie list.

Brieziel: I tried the sprite zero and yogurt this morning... works nicer than just a sweetner by itself. Thanks for that![/QUOTE]

Hello
I eat the yellow gem squash, i never had before cohens but I actually quite like it, to me it is like zucchini but a little sweeter, and it adds colour to the stirfrys lol
i love fanta zero in my yoghurt, gotto ahve something in it to take the tang away, lol
talk to you later

Hi guys I just wrote a thing about gem squash and it didn't post - so here goes again.

No it's not readily available my mum used to make it for us growing up she used to steam it in it's skin then you break open and have with a nob of butter. Very delicious.

It small and dark skinned (dark green )with a pale flesh. Probably only get at speciality shops they used to have them in Melbourne when we lived there a few years ago.

I stick to the yellow like Di78 and steam it or have as a stirfry as well.

What worked for me..

I had the same kind of problem, breakfasts. I'm not a big brekky eater and after 5 weeks of eggs for breakfast I was over it.

For me, I started having yoghurt with my fruit. Now being lactose intolerant you can't.

So my advice would be to have your rissoles for brekky or some other meat meal, then for lunch create yoruself a curried egg 'sandwich' or have a hard boiled egg in a salad or something along those lines.

The thought of egg for breakfast still makes me gag but getting creative is half the fun with Cohens.

And what other diet do you know of where yo ucan have rissoles or 'crumbed' steak for breakfast ... get creative and know that YOU can do this :) xxoo

the 1st week is usually more on water loss... but the weight still comes off quite fast...
but.. dun keep weighing urself... cos there might be periods of 1-2 weeks where u dun lose ani weight( weight loss cycle)... and if u keep weighing.. u might feel disheartened... measure urself instead.. judging by measurements and how loose ur clothes gonna be will be much better... hehe :D

NONNA - thanks for the mention :D its a good feeling to know that every bit of your weight loss is helping someone else with every bit of theirs! welcome to the program and forum NONNA,HEYFATTY,WINDYBLUE + KATYDIDNEXT and in no time you will start to see your beautiful skinny butterfly emerge from that overstuffed cocoon hehe :p

WINDYBLUE - Where do you usually buy your groceries from? Over here in perth we have a brand called 'Harvey Fresh' that has lactose-free yoghurt:cool: maybe if you hunt around enough you will find it?its not that expensive. Oh and if you plan to have cheese for brekkie make sure you read your manual as im pretty sure were only allowed cheese MAX 3 times a week!
Also in the first 4 weeks i lost 10 kilo but then 4 weeks after that id only lost 5.6 kilo (i only weigh myself every 4 weeks). I guess for the first 4 weeks its a huge shock to the system then after that your body starts to realise whats happening and starts cruising along :)

CARPE DIEM - I found a special on caffeine free diet coke can packs hehehe just thought youd like to know!no deviating for this little fat kitten hehe

just had to tell everyone that i just baked my world famous Apple/Sultana Muesli muffins for everyone in my family AND DIDNT EVEN FEEL LIKE HAVING A TASTE   normally i would be right on those hot little puppies as soon as they got out of the oven but for some reason i just enjoyed the process of making them and sitting in the kitchen while they baked just taking in all the wonderful cinemon/apple/sulta aromas! wowee this program really does teach you alot about yourself!

till next time everyone happy losing!! xx

Hi all. thanks for the warm welcome. i got side tracked with some "tiff" that was going on a couple of pages ago but decided to leave it back there. too confusing coming in the middle of it.

so i was way too excited to wait, after a big lunch out with the hubby and kids, i went straight and got some scales, chicken and allowable veges. so when i whipped up a stir fry for the fam, i had my little meal.....:(

so hard not to eat what the kids have left or even taste what i am cooking them. know it is stupid starting after i ate all day and before i get my program but its depressing everytime i eat. so here goes nothing. did manage to drink my 2ltr of water today.

so am trying the egg (runny my fave) and tomato for breaky.

what is this about not 2 in the same category?? like i said, i dont pick up my program till next tues:(

Hi Heyfatty :)

You are probably best to wait till you get yor programme, your consultant will go through everything with you at that stage too much info can be a worry.

I tried reducing my carb's and that before I started but I was so anxious to get the programme that ended up stressing and eating more. So good luck to you are definitely ready for Cohen's.

Another thing I used to clear the kid plates as well but now I don't have a single inclination to do this anymore.
