cherry garcia's diary

okay, just got back from the gym. today was a good day, did:

-60min treadmill on incline
-weights
-45min combat class.

tomorrow evening there'll be aerobics class then combat class back-to-back, it means no treadmill for me tomorrow YAY!

for now i'm just mostly doing dumbells, i always do 3 sets of between 8-12reps...and at the moment i'm using the 6kgs for everything...i don't know all the names but at the moment its something like

-butterfly curls
-bicep curls
-triceps
-front raises
-overhead raises
-side raises? (not sure of name)

i really need to look up the names....i do the first three on one day and then the other three the next day and so on. i can actually feel my bicep and tricep muscles have developed quite well, however of course hidden under fat :( but for now i like knowing i have muscle since it helps burn fat together with the cardio i'm doing.

i'd really like to start doing some leg work but the machines arent' suitable for my body....so for now i think i'll start with lunges and squats. i actually used to do squats like the first 3 weeks but got a bit lazy and kinda stopped i think because i started with 3 x 15 reps then went to 20 reps, by the time i was doing 25 reps i was like enough! lol! but i seriously need to start that up again.

woo hoo. i still have yet to ask about different class times at my gym. what do you do weight wise?

Maybe with he weight exercises, instead of increasing your reps per set, increase the weight and do less reps. You can go all the way down to 8 reps if you use really heavy weight. And don't be afraid of bulking up, as you're in a caloric deficit making that virtually impossible. You're doing great!

thanks ankebuzz! just remembered your going away this weekend for the holiday? ENJOY!

okay, again happy with today's weigh in....i've officially left the 330's and down to the 320's YAY!

Wow, that's a really impressive and consistent workout regime.

hey cord, thanks for checking in! i've somehow managed to give 100% especially the last three weeks with proper eating and 5 days exercise per week...i really hope i can keep up the trend. i think once i bought myself a weighing scale it really put things into perspective, so every morning i see it go down a notch and i'm like i don't want to mess it up. i still have a looong way to go but hanging in there.

hey mike! thanks!...and yeah i like that...i'll be breaking necks, literally and figuratively.....lol!
cherrys gonna be breaking necks. both literally and figuratively.

wow, today was a really dissapointing weigh in. i don't understand it, for 3 weeks straight now i've eaten right and exercised right. last week 3 times i weighed in at the same weight, i wasn't thrilled about it but i was glad it remained the same. today for the first time in 3 weeks, i've weighed at a higher weight than the previous day...i felt so sad about it, i just can't understand it, especially when i've been extra good with everything.

days like these are really trying...sometimes it's like one pound can make or break you, just yesterday i was celebrating to be in the 320's and today i'm back at the 330's....i won't let one pound get in the way of my hard work....no way is it setting me back. sorry to rant, just not having the best day :(

I completely understand how you feel Cherry. Nothing would depress me more than seeing the scale go up after a really healthy and active week. That's why my wife had to literally hide the scale from me. Everytime it went up I would be pissed at the world (which is definitely not fun for her :))

Now that you are 9 weeks into your program you will probably start to see more and more of these fluctuations. But, you have to remember that they are ONLY fluctuations. Your body will go through phases where it loses weight easily and freely, and where you have to give 110% just to make the scale go down a 10th of a pound.

It's hard, but not giving up during the hard times will ultimately make you a better person (health-wise) and make you appreciate your efforts more than ever.

I remember when I hit a bump at 198. Like you, I had just moved into a new category - under 200 lbs. For the next 4 weeks my weight stayed at 198 AND ABOVE. It was by far the hardest part of my diet. Working out and eating healthy was so hard to do when the scale just parked itself at 200. Finally, my efforts paid off and I lost 5 pounds in a week.

Your efforts will also pay off, just remember that your body needs time to acomplish the weight loss process. With your discipline you will absolutely succeed in this!

hey dwwise,
thanks so much for the words of encouragement! up untill now the scale is what was driving me, seeing it go down a notch everyday made me work harder and eat better.....but now i guess is the hardest part of all, that is, no longer relying on the scale but relying on myself to keep going strong. it's the first time in my life i've ever lost 20lbs EVER, so i won't let a small minor setback drag me down.

thanks again, hearing you've been through a similar situation helps alot because it makes me know if others could breakthrough such times then so can i.
