A change for life

Didn't go to the gym yesterday.
Did 4.8 miles tonight on the treadmill.
12.8 miles so far this month on my goal to 100 miles and 200lbs. Let's do it.
 
6.4 miles on Friday

Well I ran for an hour straight at a min 6.0 mile pace and racked up 6.2 miles (kicked it up at the end) and then finished walking the next .2 miles. Worked on my new floor all day yesterday and relaxing watching football today. On pace for my 100 mile month...feels good.

12.8+6.4 = 19.2 total for the month.
 
Another 6.4 mile run yesterday. It felt really good. I'm under 210lbs and believe I can get to 200 this month, maybe 199. On my way to 100 miles this month. Just keep on trucking.

19.2+6.4= 25.6 mi
 
25.6 mi + 4.7 = 30.3 for the month

Cardio is so boring. Couldn't run for more than 25 mins straight tonight. Ran 2.5 miles, then walked a bit, then ran for about 5 more minutes before just walking so I got my miles and 1 hour in. But, since I made the commitment to 100 miles this month..there's no stoping/excuses/whining.

I've been eating well and drinking tons of water. Work is kind of stressful at the moment and I really need the time in the gym to get away. I'm hovering right around 210 and want to shed 10lbs before I see my brother in Miami in November for his birthday. Very doable and it's going to keep me motivated.

Last night was I didn't want to go to the gym but I went anyway. I've been tired and was rushed all day yesterday. SO i decided I was just going to run as fast as I could for 5k. I told myself I could finish in under 29 mins so I took that approach. Started out at 6.2 mph and then at about 22 mins I kicked it up to 6.6 then a few min later hit 7.0, then 7.5...it was 28:20 and I was at 3.03 miles and I was running my ass off then all of a sudden it stoped. I thought, shit, I hit the emergency button with my stomach, so i looked down and the darn treadmil had shut down for some mechanical reason...Sweet, I broke it ;-)


Oh well, another three miles for the month. What else can you do?


33.33 miles so far this month. I need to kick it up with a few long runs on the weekend to get on schedule.
 
What a slacker...

Ok, WTF right? Weekends screw me up. I stay up late, don't eat right and usually don't get to the gym. Ouch...

Anyway, went to the gym tonight, ran 6.4 miles making my total for the month 39.43 miles. That's 40 miles halfway thru the month. That means 60 miles in 16 days. To make this I need 3.75 miles per day for the rest of the month. Should be easy, but with a trip to New Jersey, a Halloween party, a visitor from out of town, I can easily see me not making my goal. What a slacker...

Well, if I don't want to feel like a loser for not accomplishing this goal, I have to just pony up and do it. No excuses,,,oh except for poker on Wednesday and a work event on Thursday...Man, I need to see what I am made of and find a way to make this goal even if it means like a few 10 mile runs...That's a good goal..maybe a 10 mile run this week? Should only be like 1hour and 40 mins at a 6.0 mile pace...shit...can I do that?
 
5.5 miles. Ran for 4.2 of it. Treadmill is still boring. Ate well. Still have a ways to go. Almost forgot my dad's birthday tisk tisk, and I'm trying to do some work...boy I all of a sudden feel like I'm running behind....thank goodness for coffee.

39.43 + 5.5 = 44.93 this month....
 
7 miles today. Ran for 6 miles of it. Gonna be a tough stretch to make it to 100 miles this month. Sounds easier than it is in reality. Oh well, we'll just see how many miles I can make and see if November allows for it. Lots of travel coming up so it will be tough again.

Anyway, been eating like crap lately with halloween parties and some travel. Has it really been nine days since I last posted???? ouch.

Didn't run last Sunday, monday or tuesday. Did 4.7 miles on Wednesday, 5.9 on Thursday..nothing friday, nothing saturday, nothing Sunday and 2 miles today. I did start lifting though and spent some time working my chest and tricepts. Ran 2 miles in 19 mins flat. looking to do about 2 miles before my workouts this week.

Anyway, 51.93+4.7+5.9+2 = 64.53 for the month.
 
Back again

Went to the gym for the first time in quite a while. Been a huge slacker!!!!
Anyway, back at it. I start a new position at work in a few weeks ;-) and I'm excited. Weather was really warm today and got me aching for spring..too bad winters are long and cold in buffalo.

Did 4.7 miles in 60 minutes tonight. Off to the races I suppose...

Sore and loving it

I had a helluva workout yesterday and feel sore today.
Did bi's, tri's, legs and abs yesterday. Can hardly move today which means tomorrow is going to be worse ;-)

Had breakfast (bowl of cereal with skim milk), lunch was 4 eggs with some cheese, dinner was a turkey burger. I've drank alot of coffee though with creamer (bad bad) and haven't but a couple glasses of water. I have to remember to drink my water again.

I've been moving around for the most part today, kinda different than the last couple of months sitting on my arse watching football.

I've signed up for the body transformation challenge (yippee) and am ready to lose the weight I've put on in the past 3 months of being a bum.

I don't drink during lent and that is going to help me out tremendously for this challenge. I've started a new position at work that isn't going to be as stressful I hope.

Amazing how fast time flies by...just yesterday I was in college..holy shit...9 years out to high school...it does fly by..........

Anyway...ran 3 miles tonight and then walked for a while longer after that. Did 1:15 mins on the treadmill...something like 5.5 miles and 800+ calories...

Lifted yesterday, got my chest and shoulders...feels good to hit the weights and feel sore afterwards...

Life in the new position at work is leaving me feeling energized at the end of the day...a far cry from my old position...

Gonna get up and hit the gym tomorrow if the weather is horrific, supposed to get like 3-12 inches depending upon how the temperature fluctuates...

Got a benefit to go to tomorrow and I will probably have some beers...then the super bowl and fat tuesday coming up...I can hear my liver crying... :)

I don't drink during lent and that is a good thing...looking forward to seeing what 6 weeks of not drinking, eating healthy and working out can do for my body...I never seem to get all three at the same time...so this is the year...and who knows...maybe I'll be so impressed I'll stay on the wagon ;-)

And it begins

Ok, So Lent is here. I've quit drinking (ok, so it's been 2 days, but it's gonna be a long 40) and I quit smoking today (over 24 hours without a smoke) and feeling really good.

I signed up for a 8k (4.97mi) run March 1st I do believe, so I hit the treadmill tonight and chalked up 5 miles in 51:42. Pretty happy that I completed the run without stopping and I can't believe how easy it was just one day without smoking, just 24 hours and my lungs are better at collecting oxygen. Amazing.

Lifted at home yesterday on the total gym. Pretty good workout, but don't want to do it every day, there's something about leaving the house and going to the gym that I like.

Tuesday was Fat Tuesday and I had to celebrate with some guinness. Monday was a happy hour after work....but Sunday was a good shoulder workout with a buddy of mine.

So I haven't been real bad. After getting up to about 225 lbs, I'm back down under 220 and my goal for the next 40 days is to not smoke, not drink, hit the gym everyday and get down 15lbs to 205. This is doable and probable. Here's to it.
 
3.2 miles running tonight in 33min's. Did some bicept curls. No drinking tonight. 2 days without smoking. Having a shake and looking around the forum for motivation.....
 
5.0 miles in 51:13 tonight. 5th day without smoking/6 days without drinking.

Had a good workout on Saturday, shoulders and triceps. Took sunday off.

Need to get to drinking alot of water, been drinking alot of coffee. That's what I do instead of smoking...go get a cup of coffee...I'll try weening myself soon...

Sweet...didn't think I would shatter any records tonight when I went to the gym, but hells yeah...did 5 miles in 49:25! That's close to 2 mins better than Monday!

1 week without smoking.

So here's the bad news...I'm still not drinking enough water. I quite smoking and am making up for it with coffee (with sugar and cream) It's just a way for me to cope without smoking...I just drink coffee all day long...this has to change if I want to lose some weight...so since I quit smoking...I've put on about 5lbs. I have also been really hitting the weights, so I am going to say that is the reason...besides, all my clothes still fit good..so it has to be muscle right?

Anyway...weight is not important at this point. I am re-focusing on drinking enough water. The 8k run is March 1st, so about 2 weeks away. Drink my water and keep improving on my running..and keep posting here...these are my short term achievable goals.
