A change for life

Already missed a day of journaling? Boooo

Anyway, yesterday I skipped the gym......and went to the park and ran 5 miles. Again, left my watch at home so I don't know how fast...I've got the 5k near my house this Saturday!

I did biceps and triceps tonight and will probably go for a walk too.

I weighed myself and am down 2lbs on the gym scale! my buddy was in awe...2lbs in 2 days...what's he expect, running is fantastic exercise!
 
Yesterday I hit shoulders and back and I feel it today which is great!

I'm off to my second organized run this season, a 5k not far from my house. I haven't run since Wednesday so I'm ready! Goal is under 28 mins.
 
Well after my run yesterday, I thought i needed to walk nine holes of golf so I did that..ya know...for my health.. :)

So I went and ran at the park today. 3 laps, 2.4 miles each. 7.2 total in an hour and 9 mins roughly. I took my watch with me and it died..I'm going to the dollar store to get a cheap stop watch..why spend money on a sports watch when the batteries die it cost likes 8 dollars and takes around 30 minutes to place the battery inside...

anyway, looking forward to a great summer
 
got up and ran this morning. 2.5 miles around the neighborhood. Ate Pizza today since it was bought..i have to learn to say no..it's easier when I don't forget to take my lunch..i went to the store tonight and stocked up on chicken breasts, so rice, chicken and broccoli it is for the week.

I'm going to run tomorrow again in the morning and and I think my brother is going to run on Saturday with me. I'm excited.
 
So I had a great chest workout on tuesday, but no running.

Weather was great today so I ran after work in the park. 5 miles, could have ran more, but the park was closing due to darkness. I'll try to get to the park earlier tomorrow. Ate well today, no bad things....
 
what a great day

Besides eating healthy, the weather being perfect and me running another 5 miles tonight without any problem, My sister just had her fourth kid, a baby boy, perfectly healthy and beautiful. A trip to chicago is in the works! Supposed to be absolutely perfect weather this weekend in buffalo too!
 
So Friday was the end of a long week and shame on me I went out drinking instead of the gym. Saturday I felt a bit aweful, but me and some friends went to the park near the Niagara river and threw the football and around and walked. I then went to my other park and ran 2.5 miles. Sunday, I hiked for 1 and half hours and then Monday I went to the gym, got in a nice back workout and proceeding to run 3.1 miles in 25:34. I was happy and am looking forward to shaving off about 35 seconds on that one.

Going to do a good chest workout tonight and hopefully get in and out of the gym. It's been just too darn nice outside to be inside.

Great stuff. Ready to go back to the park tomorrow for my runs and off the treadmill. I just figured I wanted to really push myself and I do it on the tread b/c I like the ability to maintain certain speeds. I just figure once I get used to it on the tread it'll correlate into me running faster automatically outside. we'll see.
 
Hey Dave,

Great job on all that running. I want to eventually get my times and distances closer to what yours are. I'm doing the C25K right now. I've been a runner in the past but it hasn't been as consistent as it should be. The C25K I'm doing now is mostly to get my running at faster speeds and hopefully increase the distances once I'm done with the program...

I hear ya on wanting to run outside lately. The weather here was so nasty this past winter and now that Spring is finally starting to show its face, it is awesome. I need to work on my outdoor runs more but, I do fight with my allergies, lol...

10 Miles

Well I finally did it. 10 freaking miles. Wind was blowing like a $%#^ and it was really irritating me. But, it was worth it. I'm really excited about what I feel like I can accomplish these days. I'm hovering right at 210lbs and really want to lose 15lbs before I go home for my summer vacation in June. Mentally I think I have kept myself from reaching that point by sabotaging myself with over eating and beer.

I have a 5k road race next saturday and that should be great as I am trying to best my 25:25 5k PR.
 
No running today, but I made it to the gym for my bi's and tri's workout. Got a really good pump and as I was dressing my sister called and told me she was pregnant! not the the one who just had her baby, but another sister. I'm sooo excited!

Gonna sign up for a half-marathon. Not sure which one, but I'm excited! Details to come.
 
Just a few miles today

Just got 3.1 miles today, ran for the first 2. Wasn't really feeling it. Had a long day at work, got a good back workout done and ran for 2 miles in 17 mins flat.

Going to get up and run tomorrow. Cold front moved in and no sunshine today...boooo
 
Been busy at work, covering for a co-worker who's on Vacation and it's getting to me...

Went to the gym tonight, didn't get a real good workout in, but it wasn't bad. Didn't run. I have a 5k this Saturday and I think I'll have a long run tomorrow and a short run on Thursday, take friday off and hit saturday's run and hopefully break 26 minutes which I think I can do, maybe, even break 25:30

A guy at the gym stopped me and asked how much I was down. Well, officially, in total, 55lbs. But in the last 3 weeks, I'm down 6.5lbs, all the while gaining strength and definition and improving my running. I can't complain. The scale is not the only measurement. My 36 waist jeans fit good now, instead of cramping into them.

Well, this is the last week of my 4 week challenge with my buddy. I'm leading, but I can't slow down, I should be able to drop 2-3 lbs this week if I keep the bad stuff out of my body..
 
Beer, Wings, And a Running Machine

Well yesterday I ran 4.1 miles in 34:10. Then I went to see my buddy who was working the bar at a nice Irish establishment. I'll go have a pint I said and wouldn't ya know it, 6 pints later and 10 hot wings, I'm officially done for the day. I passed out on my couch when I got home and woke up this morning at 4am and finally made it to my bed....

So today, I'm determined to make up for that back slide and wouldn't ya know it, the Guinness must have been my fuel as I ran 5k in 24:39!

No running tomorrow. 5K race Saturday morning along the Buffalo Waterfront downtown. Here's to breaking a PR!

24:40 for the race

24:40....

So I decided at the last moment to not wear my ipod and just experience this race as it was along the waterfront...

Well, I'm glad I didn't wear my ipod because it is a totally different experience. I found myself listening the feet hitting the pavement, the heavy breathing from the guy behind me and the claps and encouragement from the crowds.

I decided not to partake in the post-race celebration, even though I was tempted to grab a beer at 10:00 am, but that little guy in my head said to get out of there and make sure you hit the gym today and have a productive weekend.

I ran in 24:40, a personal record for an outdoor race (even though this is only my 4th official race) I'm stoked about what I think I can do in the future, especially as the pounds drop off. I've got a long way to go as the winners are usually around 17-18 mins for the race. Can you imagine me hitting 18 mins for 3.1miles? Maybe one day..it could happen right?

Then today I ran another 7 miles on the tread since it was kinda cold outside with the wind. I'm looking better day by day and really am getting excited about the things I'm accomplishing. It feels good to buy new clothes and feel good wearing them. I bought another pair of jeans that I like and went out last night and really felt good. I notice people smiling at me more. Life isn't all that bad now is it?

Went to the park tonight and ran 2.5 miles. I ran hard, but didn't time myself. I really don't like timing myself when I run outside, must be because I enjoy it outside right?

Did 78 pushups tonight. Not all at once, but in three sets. 30, 22, 18, and 8. I am starting a program that trains you to do 100 pushups at once. I'll be a stud when I can run a 5k in under 20 and then rip out 100 pushups...just call me freak now ;-)
 
Woke up and did 25 pushups. Ate a big breakfast. Had a good day at work. Went to the gym and did chest tonight with my buddy. We ended our 4 week contest and he drop 5.5lbs, me, I lost a total of 6.4 lbs in the past 4 weeks! Didn't seem like much, but as I look back, that's pretty awesome considering how much stronger I know I am and look. We're continuing the challenge, but I did win this round (he has to buy me wings and beer lol) what a reward right?

My birthday this Thursday, good ole 28...

Congrats on your time for your race a few days ago. That is amazing :) I gotta work on getting my 3 milers under 29 or 30 minutes.
