Txturtlegirl's Diary

TXturtlegirl,

I agree with you about V-Day. It's a day created by the greeting card companies to sell their products. .. Like we don't have enough reason to buy them anyway...

Get well soon,
Thank you,
Invitation,
Sorrow,
Christmas,
Thanksgiving
Halloween
Grandparents Day
Boss's Day
Mother's Day
Father's Day
and the list goes on and on and on...

we;re supposed to do something for our boss on boss's day? ya mean the pleasure of being around me every day isn't enough? :D

wow...

::makes a note to suck up to my boss and celebrate boss's day:

Groundhog day needs to become a big holiday :D its seriously ignored and that is so wrong...

Hmmm...I barely send out Christmas cards (and if you receive one, you should consider yourself blessed), and I buy a Valentine's Day card for the hubby. I do birthday cards...but that's all the money Hallmark is getting from me!

Well, according to my sources, Valentine's Day was big long ago, when there was a special day for passing notes of love. Then, as printing became more popular, they started preprinting notes that someone could just sign.

Then Hallmark got big ;)

Valentine Day History
There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine's Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to love lotteries. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". Other aspects of the story say that Saint Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine.
Gradually, February 14 became the date for exchanging love messages and St. Valentine became the patron saint of lovers. The date was marked by sending poems and simple gifts such as flowers. There was often a social gathering or a ball.

In the United States, Miss Esther Howland is given credit for sending the first valentine cards. Commercial valentines were introduced in the 1800's and now the date is very commercialised. The town of Loveland, Colorado, does a large post office business around February 14. The spirit of good continues as valentines are sent out with sentimental verses and children exchange valentine cards at school.

Elliptical Trainer 30 432
Stationary Bicycling: moderate (bike, biking) 8 89.6

Yeah, normally I do 30 minutes on the bike, but I think I sat too long at work today, and my butt hurt! LOL. Several years ago I hurt my tailbone, and it just never recovered. Sometimes I can do the stationary bike, sometimes I can't handle that seat.

Nearly at the big two zero. :) I kind of like that Sparkspeople entry. You seem to be sitting nicely inside all their recommendations. Haveagoodweekend. :)

Mornin' all!

Ok, I forgot to weigh in on Thursday. Kinda weird, but oh well. So I did it this morning. 196.6! Not a huge loss, but, considering I was up 3 pounds from the thursday before (and right at 200), I'll take it! I don't know how accurate it was, though, considering that I'm wearing a belt (NONE of my regular pants stay where I put them anymore!) and different pants than normal - all my scrubs were in the washer. :( So, it might be a little lower than that, but I'm not gonna stress it. If it's lower, then Thursday's weigh in should look REALLY good, right? LOL

So far today:

Breakfast:
Box of Cheerios 60 cal
2% Milk (1 cup) 120 cal
100 Cal Pack Cheez-Its 100 cal
Regular coke (20 oz bottle) 240 cal

No idea what lunch is gonna be yet. I haven't even looked to see what the cafeteria is offering. Probably just a sandwhich. That's fairly safe. :)

Howdy Tx congrats on losing I would take anything at this point.
You look like your doing great have a nice day Tammy

I'm glad to hear that you're back in charge!
Keep on doing things right, and... "regular coke"? Does such a thing really, truly exist anymore? It's been awhile for me.

Keep following your food plan, it will get you where you want to be.

You're sounding great! I was off-line for a while and didn't read back far enough in your diary (until today) to realize you had a rough patch. Congratulations on moving forward again! :)
