Thanks. I'm glad it's going in the right direction, but with the cal deficit and exercise it just seems ridiculously slow. It's not like I'm falling off plan or anything!
Today was a bit tough as I was off work, but didn't really have any 'hard' plans. And I allowed myself a bit of time to just relax after 2 weeks of 6 day work weeks.
Forced myself to get up and weigh myself at 7:30am so it would be a true weigh in. Then went back to bed and slept till my alarm at 9:30, then dozed on and off with my snooze button till 9:50 or so. Stayed in bed with my computer till probably 10:30 or so. Got ready for the gym and headed down.
Decided Eff my back I'm doing weights! It was feeling much better the last day or 2. I did my 5 min warm up on the treadmill (0.46 km, 59 cals), then went to do weights.
I knew that I wanted to back off the weight a little today at least on my squats so I could work on form and not reinjure. My SL 5x5 app actually told me to deload since it had been 2 weeks, by 20%. I really tried to focus on form, I even video'd myself on a few of them to see what I was doing. I made sure my feet were in front of my knees, tried to make sure I was pushing with my legs, tried to keep my core strong, thinking of slightly tucking my pelvis. I felt ok doing it. I also tried to think more of my core doing the bench press and bar bell row.
Squats 80
Bench Press 45
Bar Bell Row 45
I had zero energy to do cardio afterwards. It filled me with dread to think about it. Instead I went upstairs and changed into a cute skirt and top, leashed up my puppy then headed out for a 5km walk. My back hurt a bit during the walk, but it felt fine the rest of the day. I did take an advil right after working out. Steps were 7508. Cal burn 320. Pace 9:50mins/km. Time: 49mins
I then went back upstairs, had lunch and sat around till 3:30. I was really having to fight my urge to eat as I was getting bored and nothing was really distracting me. I finally decided I needed to get out and do something or I would eat badly. So I decided to go with part of my original plan for the day which was to work on refinishing my chairs and table at my mom's house. I made up my chicken for my wrap before I left (it smelled so good it was so hard not to eat it right then!), then packed up the rest of my supper. I went to the hardware store first to pick up paint and some supplies.
I went to my mom's and started to work. I had just bought the little sanding sponges to try to strip off some of the paint. I thought that just for doing one chair (I wanted to practice the techniques on one chair before doing all the chairs and table), and that I didn't have to get all the paint off everywhere, just on the edges and some other spots that I wanted to distress later, that a sponge would be ok for this chair.
Nope, the edges weren't too terrible (still a ton of work but would come off) but the flat surfaces would NOT budge!! Thankfully my mom hand a power sander. I generally try not to use power tools because I have a great talent at trying to kill myself. But that thing worked so much better with so much less effort haha. It still was quite the process!
Finally got it sanded to the point I thought I would want (though afterwards I knew there were a few places I could have done a little better that were hard to reach), and stopped for supper as it was already after 6. Time flies by when you're busy. Back at it, I dusted it off as much as possible then started to paint. I used quite a dry paint brush and purposely didn't do a 'good job'. Since I want it to look distressed and old, you kinda TRY to do a bad job haha. I am doing the main part of the chairs white, and the seat light grey. I did 2 light coats and am SO happy with the colors I chose! I had initially been looking at a darker grey and am SO glad at the last minute I changed my mind to the lighter grey!
I still need to go it and actually do the distressing, but wanted to make sure it was totally dry and cured before sanding and I was working in the basement and was losing the light from outside.
Here are pictures of the process (top/left before, top/right after sanding, bottom/left first coat of paint, bottom/right second coat)
By that point it was already after 8 so I went to head home, at the last second I decided that one of my evening snacks was going to be frozen yogurt. They finally had a really good flavor there called birthday cake. Yum. After I ate that out in the sunshine, I drove home. Had my last snack and have relaxed the rest of the evening.
Here's a couple random pics from today. One is of me sucking it in as hard as I can and almost achieving the type of waist I would want haha. The other is me chilling between benchpress sets.
Lunch: Bagel w/ PB
Supper: Chicken wrap, salad, breadsticks
Snack: Frozen yogurt, popcorn
Total Cals: 1700
I have about 4300 cals for the weekend. Tomorrow I'm gonna try to keep it lower as we are having that potluck bday party for my brother on sunday.
I decided against the photoshoot tomorrow with my horse as I didn't have it in me to get to the barn and ride and bath and everything today, so we are planning for that for July 1 (canada day so no work).
