Third Times a Charm?????

Great advice from the both of you. I really do appreciate it. And it is something I would love to do but it is to expensive financially at this time. This is something I have to do on my own. Truthfully during the week I eat pretty good. typically I'll eat a light breakfast that includes Coffee, a banana and cup of yougurt. For lunch I have two wraps with meat (typically either chicken or turkey), lettuce, & tomato with a little bit of mayo, and about 2 cups of some sort of fruit. For an afternoon snack I have a fiber bar. Dinner pretty much depends on what the wife and daughter has made by the time I get home. But they don't cook as healthy as I like a lot of times so I'll either skip what they have made and fix something of my own.

I do think that during the week isn't the real problem as much as the weekend is. It's on the weekends that I have for my "cheat day" and am thinking that is where the problem is. I have had several times where I have indulged way more than I should of, or just the fact that my body may be retaining what I eat on the weekend due to the lighter meals I eat during the week

last night I did something a little different.
For the past several months I would go to the gym run for 30 mins then do weight training. One thing I hated in that process was the running. don't get me wrong I do enjoy running, I just don't like to run in circles or on a tread mill. I feel like I'm not getting anything out of it and it becomes very boring and tedious.
So last night when I went to the gym I only did weight training and held off from running until I got home. Once home I immediately went for a run. What an awesome run it was. Back in the day (a year ago plus) that's all I did was run outside. There is nothing better than the running in the fresh open air and taking in the scenery as you run by. What is even better is that I live out in the country and in my area it is nothing but corn fields and beautiful timber lines with rolling hills (which kick my ass on some). What is even better about running outdoors where I live (as I stated before) are the hills. No flat running surface that is on a treadmill or track. So now my body has to work harder to make it up and down the hills.
So now I'm going to try and continue running outside (as long as the weather holds up) in hope of some better progress and even better motivation.

I've been considering the idea of buying some running shoes and picking up running some time in the future.

It's great cardio, and doing it outside really takes out the grinding part out of the equation.

The scenery is always a bonus. :)

Well I screwed up a little bit yesterday.
As I was sitting at work my wife texted me asking if I was going to the gym after work. I told her yes of course. She then replied with "How do you plan to do that when your gym bag is sitting here at home?".
I was like crap crap crap...... lol
But never the less I did rescue myself a little. Instead of going to the gym I went home changed and went on a run. So all wasn't to much of a loss. Again I ran the same route as the day before but a little slower this time due to sore legs.
This morning I made sure not to forget my bag so I'll be off to the gym after work tonight and then another run once I get home afterwards.

Finally back. Been a crazy couple months at work. Had to put in serious OT and it really killed my workouts.
Hell I didn't even have time to breath much less workout. But now I'm back and hoping to get back into my routine.
I have been able to get to the gym for the past week which was pretty good, sore, but good.

So now its off to a better me.....

thanks LM.
Put another one in the books this morning. Was a good workout at the gym.

20 min run
3 sets 20 reps - crunches
3 sets 20 reps - oblique crunches each side
3 sets 20 reps - medicine ball crunches
30 min elliptical

I feel like I'm missing something but can't remember what it was.

Was not motivated to get out of bed this morning. 4 am came way to fast this morning. Laid there for a good 10 min before I finally dragged my butt out of bed. So basically kicked my butt to get into gear.

20 min run
3 sets 10 reps - cable crunches @ 90 lbs
3 sets 10 reps - weighted ball squats @ 20 lbs
3 sets 10 reps - torso twist machine @ 110 lbs
30 min elliptical

Yea I know its not much of a workout, but I have an hour drive to get to the gym then get what I can do done before 7 am when I need to get showered and ready for work.

Good day at the gym.
Even thou working out is a pretty tough and tiring, I have to say I really like the feeling I get after my workout. Kind of a adrenaline high, My body is loose and my mind is relaxed. I just feel good. It's getting into the gym to begin with that I have a problem with. I go kicking and screaming like a little kid sometimes. Especially on the days I just don't have the motivation to go. But in the end after I get there and get my workout on I give myself a little pat on the back for pushing it one more day.

20 min run
3 sets 10 reps - mountain climbers
3 sets 10 reps - leg lifts
3 sets 10 reps - elevated legs body lifts
30 min elliptical

Wish I had more time to do more but time is limited due to having to get to work. At times I think about going after work but there are a lot of times I have to work over and it just doesn't work out for me.

As long as getting yourself to go is still a struggle you don´t have to raise the intensity. Just enjoy the feeling of being active. Good work!

Changed it up a little this morning.
Wanted to do some weights so I shortened my run and elliptical to make some time to hit the weights. Overall its been a good week. Now for a couple days of rest over the weekend.

15 min run
3 sets - cable row machine @ 120 lbs
3 sets - dumbbell press @ 45 lbs each
3 sets - curl bar overhead press @ 50 lbs
3 sets - curl bar tricep overhead curls @ 40 lbs
3 sets - curl bar bicep curls @ 60 lbs
20 min elliptical

Thanks Q, Yes I had a good weekend. Did nothing but relax and work around the house. Got plenty of sleep also. Going to bed by 9 pm and waking no later than 7.

Woke up this morning refreshed and ready to rock it. Hit the gym with full force and had a good workout.

20 min run
3 sets - planks @ 45 sec each
3 sets 20 reps - crunches
3 sets 20 reps - oblique crunches each side
3 sets 20 reps - elevated crunches
3 sets 10 reps - vertical leg lifts
30 min elliptical

Body is tired but full of motivation and energy. Now time to bring on the day. WOO WOO
