Stage 1: The long road to the New Year

Naw, me and JZ haven't been swapping spit or anything...:ack2: Just timing...

Glad to see you're still in it. I'll figure out a way to kick it back into gear this week. I won't lose much time over this.

Good to hear it! (the 'not swapping spit' as well as the fact you are nearlly back into gear!!!) LOL

I work a long day and rarely feel like exercising when I get home, but once you get 5 minutes into it, the endorphines (spelling?) in your body kick in and you feel so much more energetic. I actually hate the thought of having to do a session, but always finish with such a great feeling. It starts getting addictive after a short time!!!!

:hurray:

That's so true. Once you get started it is much easier to keep going. How does that saying go, "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." lol

I always finish with a great feeling too. Good for you!!!:hurray:

Endorphins are endogenous opioid polypeptide compounds. They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates during strenuous exercise, excitement, and orgasm, and they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a sense of well-being. Endorphins work as "natural fever relievers", whose effects may be enhanced by other medications.

Orgasm... hehehhe

Hey curvie, did you cut and paste that, or are you just incredibly clever and articulate?? :D

Day 70: Thursday, marking the half-way point (70 days remaining)

well, halfway there and only 4 pounds off my expected weight (according to plan I should be 228lbs) whch is great!!! I can't believe that I am 26 pounds down from August. Even better is 12 pounds in 2 weeks ;) The Fitday.com calculator truely rocks!!!!

Had a great time in the chatroom after work. Never seen so many people in there, although the seedy conversation was a bit sausy for a pure, innocent lad like myself LOL

I took the wife and her mates to the pub last night. Normally I would have stayed and got plastered, but I turned arround and went home for an hour on the treadmill and a lower body workout. Finished just in time to have a small dinner and then pop down to the pub to pick them up. It's so wierd to be around drunk people now. My wife babbled drunkenly the whole way home. That used to be my job LOL

I don't miss alcohol ;)

Lower body Workout:
Dumbell Lunges: 5 sets - nice and easy, may need to increase weight
Standing calf raises: 5 sets - definately need more weight, but trying not to overdo it
Crunches: 5 x 25
Twist crunches: 4 x 25

Jz's Wall sit challenge: 6 minutes 50 seconds - hmmm still feeling sore from the other day. Still, burned like a bitch! Great stuff!!!!

Food Intake:
Breakfast: two egg ommlete + 1 slice whole grain bread (no topping)
Morning Snack: 3 crispbreads + tuna + onion
Lunch: had a meeting with the Ministry, so no time....
Afternoon Snack: 3 crispbreads + tuna + onion
Dinner: eighteen yummy mushrooms stuffed with onion and topped with a drop of lite mayo.
Evening Snack: Again, full from Mushrooms, so no evening snack!

A great day, marking my halfway point! I am feeling even more motivated that before. Seeing results is half the cause, the other half is you people on here! Thank you!

Great progress Paul. 28 pounds is huge in such a short time. 12 in two weeks is phenominal.... As you said in one of, if not the first post, must be the alcohol!!!! Glad you don't miss it ;) You got it going now man. I'm tellin ya man... 5 to 7 days between wall sits!!! :D Keep it going!!

up on the navigation bar on here there's the option of "chat" right in the middle. click on that it'll take you to the chat room Paul's talking about. it's a hotbed for flirty conversations and inuendo's late at night. :reddevil:

It's very saucy though, Curvey... Karl wears speedo's under his kilt in there! LOL

Day 71: Friday night- traditional drinking night (69 days left)

Well, i let myself down big time!

I have had a great day, good eating and cardio but after a lovely motivating chat in the chatroom my wife came home with alcohol. Bless her, she is the best thing in my life, but she can pick and choose when she drinks.... whereas I am like a rabid dog in the chicken hutch when alcohol shows up at the doorstep....

I have been without the demon booze for over 2 weeks (a record for me in the last 6 years), but i was weak tonight :(

I joined my missus (currently asleep on the couch) and to tell you the truth, i didn't really enjoy it. God alcohol is over-rated. I just feel sick LOL first hour was great but now I am just feeling pathetic.

I am not going to beat myself up to much about this, i have sunday's AA meeting for that! Tomorrow I will get up, limited hangover and all, and keep going with my journey.

I managed a 45 minute treadmill session before work this morning. Small mercys....

Breakfast
: 2 egg omlette (no oil) + 1 multigrain bread (slice, no topping)
Morning Snack: 3 crispbread/crackers + tuna + onion
Lunch: Nothing :( (busy with meetings)
Afternoon Snack: 3 crispbread/crackers + tuna + onion
Dinner: 1 egg omlette (no oil) + 1 multigrain bread (slice, no topping)
Evening Snack: 375ml vodka straight <---- :reddevil:

Don't be too hard on yourself Paul, but at the same time... have you had a chat with your wife about your new goals and healthy lifestyle? She obviously is a good woman, understanding of your situation, and was pleased with the direction you have been traveling in... I'm sure if you had a "there's alot of other things we can do together" talk with her, maybe she would agree to not be an added temptation when it comes to the drink. I hope I'm not over stepping the online boundries here, just a thought.

Get right back into the healthy new you, and keep killin' the workouts!! :cheers2:

Howdy :) This is the first time I've had a chance since we chatted to swing by but I wanted to say hi. Thanks for checking up on me this week. ~Lisa
