Skyler's new diary

i agree. i totally agree. and i am not stressed about the wedding persay. BUT, I am not a picture person - at all. And, there are SO many pictures of the bride, etc..that last forever...and I want to be CUT and GORGEOUS. I need to get my arms in gear. I've lost inches and people have noticed...now i need to get ripped...for lack of a better word...so i can feel confident with the photographer,etc...

Ok, girl, then you need to work your upper body. Check with Paula, but from what I heard - LOTS of reps with moderate weights to build lean muscles, and step it up! Make sure you're eating LOTS of protein to help your body build those muscles, so they can burn fat for you! You can tone up plenty in 11 weeks! But, guess what, you will be a beautiful bride regardless how you look! People of all shapes and sizes got married, and have you ever seen an ugly bride? Once you put on that white dress and makeup and hair - you'll be totally stunning, I guarantee you! You can do everything you can to look your best, but please don't you dare thinking that you look anything but perfect in that dress! :)

Eleven weeks is enough time to reach your goals if you stick to your plan and don't stress about the scale or the way you look today. Everything you are doing now is accumulating in your "bank".
Here's what SkinnyKate posted in my diary last night and it's so true...

Sometimes i have to convince myself that losing weight day after day after day is like a job...dont always like it, but gotta show up for it if i wanna get 'paid'...no workie, no money! dumb analogy but it works...

each day i get to put in the 'bank' is a day closer to losing more weight..isnt that the hardest part? making ourselves remember that its literally ounces a day we lose? and that some days we dont lose a thing...and so what...just like you always say, it progress!

anyways, i know you already know all this stuff, but just treat it like something you HAVE to do, like it or not, and before long youll just blossom into BEING it...the butterfly you KNOW you are going to be on your big day!

Believe me, I know the struggles you are going through (as we all do) and it's hard for me to give you advise when I feel like I can't even follow my own right now but you are dedicated and you have come so far and you will get much farther in the eleven weeks! Keep your chin up. :D

thank you all!!! And Kate is so right. another day at this 'second job'.

I'm full force. I'm determined. I'll see muscles in those wedding photos. I'll be thin. I'll feel thin. I'll beat this. I can control this. I will succeed.

(and so will all of you!!!)

Ok, so I checked my back-records of when this all began and i was losing 3 lbs/month. Yes, I know, it slows down for the last 15-20 lbs, but i need a MAJOR KICKSTART and I need some help. I looked back in my journal and on Feb. 10th, i weighed the exact same weight that I weight right now. That is a month and 1/2 w/o losing anyhting???????????????? seems wrong to me, but the journal doesn't lie. I know that I've lost inches as I fit back into a smaller size (yeah!, i know), BUT, i am obviously plateau-ing AGAIN and need some help...sugggestions...it is like every time i get into a new decade, i get stuck..and that is fine in regards to my body is adjusting and thank goodness i am not gaining but i am being good!! with exercise and food intake, have changed to more protein, less carbs later in the day, eating at least 1200 calories (which i wasn't before) and nada.....

suggestions, please?????!!!!!

Girl, slow down! What happened to that "I'm not paying attention to that little number!" You can fit into smaller size clothers - that's the goal that you want to achieve, not the number!!! Forget the number! Throw out the scale!

Plus, you just started eating more. You need to give your body at least 2-3 weeks to adjust. Also, seeing your exercise level, you may need to increase your daily calories to 1300 to make sure you're getting enough for all that muscle building. The way I'm seeing it, you're building muscle and loosing fat, and slimming down, so you're totally on track with what you want to do. SIZE number is way more important then weight number!!!

I'm not saying that you should not change anything - you can change things around, and I'm sure it will help, however, please don't measure your progress by scale only!

thanks NTL. I'm frustrated (obviously). i read so much about starvation mode. is it really 3 weeks to notice a change??? Also, i read to up my calories to 1500? How do we know the right amount? feeling confused..it is not so much the number, but that no true progress seems to be made and i am being sooooooooo good! Grrrrrr.

Breath girl!! BREATH!! :) You need a butt whoopin or somethin don'tcha? :)

I think.. you need to put that scale in the garbage or somethin! :) I know..easy to say, tough to do. (I still have my own!) But maybe..since you were mentioning wanting to look "Cut" you should focus on intensifying your upper body work outs and taking photos of your arms in their state now and then taking another set of them in 2-3 weeks to see if you have any change. Let that be your focus.. obviously you mstu be putting on muscle and tightening down your body if you are losing inches.. but that scales going to look the same as muscle weighs more.. so don't forget about that!!

i know. but do i up the calories????????????????? Or, do yall think that that i am just replacing muscle for fat?

This one I don't know! I'm sorry. Its just I don't know wh at your metabolism does on a normal basis.. and then if you've replaced muscle for fat, muscle burns more calories.. so, you could need more now! It is just so hard to tell.

Lets think of it this way. If you up it to 1500 calories, you're not going to GAIN any, as you're still working out and burning. The only real thing that might happen is either a) you lose faster because your out of starvation mode (if you are indeed in starvation mode) or b) you lose slower because you didn't need to up them.

But you most certainly aren't going to gain any.. ! :D

I think you may want to up the calories a bit, or at least do some days 1200, others 1400-1500 vary it day by day. BUT... I also think that there's no exact number of calories that anyone can tell you. You will need to experiment and find out for yourself.

I agree with NL, you should concentrate on getting your arms really toned up, if that's what you want, and forget measuring the weight. I also think you need to go to the gym or buy a special tool and learn how to measure percent fat. I think it will help you, but just like inches, I would not recomment measuring more then every month or two.

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah.... (let's go get her Dana ;) )!
1)YES you are replacing fat with muscle
2) You may want to increase your calories or flucuate them BUT you haven't given your body time to adjust yet to the changes you've made. Let me tell you a story.... Before I was at my smallest, I was working out and eating right and really being faithful to all of it.... about eight weeks had gone by and I still felt like there was no real change.... I was frustrated but I kept going and I swear, it seemed like it was literally over night that I all of the sudden noticed the changes... THEY ARE COMING SARAH! Why do you think Bill Phillips makes his Body For Life makeovers 12 weeks long? It takes time to see the changes and your changes are coming... from the inside out AND you're building muscle. Get off that damn scale! I'm not kidding!!! It doesn't know if you've gained muscle, it just knows you've gained weight. I know of fitness girls that weigh 135 pounds but they wear a size 2! Stop focusing on that number!

Let's change your workout up a little... email me.

thanks paula...email coming....i know i need to wait some, but from FEB 10th til now - nothing lost?!?! that seems wrong. and everythign i read is telling me (not that they know) to up the calories? I'm trying not to be impatient but i want deifnition in my arms and i have this fat that wont go away on top.

Hehehehe I Love It When You Get Paula After Ya She Will Give Ya Kick If Your Not Careful Hehehe!! Good Luck On The Toning And I Am Proud Of You!
