Paladin-Clerics Weight Loss Journey

Are you sure there is no remedy for the bike? I had an elliptical at my house but I was dissatisfied with the resistance (or lack there of) so I got rid of it and bought a gym membership. Best decision I've made in a long time. Gets me out of the house, the equipment is better there, and I actually have to interact with real humans.

what is your daily calorie goal right now?

I'm still trying to keep it at 1400, but I'm not worrying over much if I go over it. So long as my exercise brings the whole thing to 9800 or lower I'll be happy!

Ii hate the gym. I don't like other people being there when I work out. I'm a paranoid little so-and-so. I am considering the swimming pool though, if I can find a swim dress that won't make me look like a beached whale! (and yes, I am aware the swimming pool would make me have to put up with people as well, but I'm choosing to embrace my hypocrsy!).

Dad had a look at the bike today, it's dead in the wate, the whole pedal part would need to be replaced and I just don't have the money for it... And I like exercising on my own, I don't actually get along well with real humans, I'm ever so charasmatic and friendly and nice, but it makes me feel all shrivilled inside after a while. lol. Ii don't even make any sense do I? lol.

I totally get that, I am the same way. My Meyers Briggs Personality Type pegged me as an extrovert but honestly I can only take so much of other people before I need to be alone and decompress. I am perfectly happy alone all day long in my own little world.

Found another interesting exercise idea. From the same people who made Zombies, Run! There's another fitness app called "Superhero Workout". It's another story based fitness thing, only based around 7 min workouts, things like jumping jacks etc. Looks interesting. I'm going to give it a go when I feel fitter. Maybe after I finish my Zombies, Run! training for 5km run and before I offically start the Zombies, Run! game...

Just figured it would be worth mentioning, if anyone else reading this needs the same sort of help I do to actually exercise. Doing it for a story just seems so much... more fulfilling. Makes it feel worthwhile I guess, for someone like me that is.

I always used to feel that exercise was taking me away from the things I wanted to do, now I'm starting to find it hard to concentrate on doing the things I always preferred doing. Clearly I latch onto an obssession and don't let go for anything. I suppose there are worse things to obssess over... The thing is though, if I was just doing this without the app and the story behind it I wouldn't be exercising.

Anyway, check out the Superhero Workout, looks cool! I will be downloading it soonish (when I make sure I have money left in my account after all my bills go out, it's only like £3, but I'm honestly not sure if I even have that right now. lol)

I am offically so fat that knee braces are too small for me. My right knee has popped it's socket a couple of times in the last ten years, so I figured if my workouts are going to get more intense, ie running more, I would be bettr safe than sorry getting a knee brace. I bought the extra large one in a health store, got home and it didn't fit me... I mean... wow. I would be in so much trouble if I really needed one.

I need to seriously drop from a size 20-22 to like 16 asap so if I need things like this I can actually use them! How do I do that quickly?????? Man I feel ashamed of myself!

Wow, I've never considered that things like knee braces have sizes...crazy. Quickly? Steady will win the race. Hopefully you don't need it anytime soon and if you do by then you're small enough for it.

A good way of losing weight is to fluctuate your calories as it tricks your metabolism. Maybe have 1500 one day then 1200 another then maybe 1400 then 1200 again etc.

High interval training also helps. You say you want to run more ... Maybe try running for 3mins Sprint for 1 walk for 1 then run for for 5 Sprint for 1.5 walk for 1 etc, it helps burn fat fast. Getting into a routine of working out helps as you're more likely to stick to it daily but try not to do the same workout every day as your body will get used to it.

Weight training also helps as building muscle helps burn fat. I know people say go to the gym and use the hard core weights but if you're like me and can't afford that right now I find a good substitute is ankle or wrist weights. I got 2.5lb ankle weights and went for walks in them with a short jog then walk then jog etc.. it helps with the legs. Or by placing them round your wrists ... Doing punches or just regular arm exercises also helps the muscles and toning.

Finally ... My brother is very fit and takes protein shakes ... I'm not saying go out and buy them because I'm not sure they work but I've recently started drinking weight loss protein drinks after my work outs. It helps repair and build muscle and also has extracts to help aid weight loss such as green tea extract. I've only been drinking them since Monday so haven't seen any results yet but I will let you know if I do :) this could be another avenue to have a look at possibly? I was and still am sceptical but I thought I'd give it ago ... What's the worse that can happen right?

Anyway best of luck. You've got this! :)

Oh as PS drink plenty of water ... It's hard I know but 2 litres a day ... Helps keep you full and it helps flush your body. If plain water isn't appealing pop a slice of lemon or 2 in there :)

Thanks guys.

@Tory... you're the one doing the Insanity Workout right? I'm considering doing this, my mum and dad are interested to. they don't really need to lose weight or anything, but I think it's their way of being supportive. I assume it must be really hard, but any weightloss is good weightloss! I'm think of starting it at the start of June, when Ii'm five weeks into my running and feeling a bit fitter.

I change my Zombie run up when I do it, taking different routes that have hills and stuff sometimes v flats. It's going well so far. I think anyway.

second on the HIIT, I have a few podcasts from a few years ago that cycle through songs based on beats per minute so that you do a HIIT workout, speed up slow down...its for treadmill and elliptical. I suppose it would work for just plain ol' running outside too but I don't do that as the weather were I live would give me a daily excuse to skip the workout.

Hi my sweet! I lost 40lbs in 2010 (using this forum, I've been here sooooo long) and although I put it all back on again *bangs head on keyboard* I lost the first 20lbs or so without any exercise at all.. I really needed to get control over what I was eating as although the exercise became important later, I needed that initial weight loss to spark my confidence and motivation to exercise more. Just a thought.

You have TURTLES. I'm so jealous. I have two deaf cats, though, who are my favourite things in the world!

I have two cats as well, but my baby turtles are wonderful!

Exercise isn't that hard for me anymore. Getting motivated I mean, since I found zombies run its been much easier. I need to lose some serious weight soon or I know I'm going to chuck it all in. I'm already backsliding some days on my food. This week has been awful for it! Everywhere I turn is temptation. I've not given in too badly, but I have given in.

I'm thinking ig I do more exercise I might feel more motivated, hence when I'm looking at the insanity workout. If it really can show serious results in 60 days I might just make it to my ideal weight sometime within the next ten years! Lol

I'm gonna do everything I can to get fitter and lose weight. I have to. I can't stay like this forever!

Thanks guys.

Awww bless them! Sounds good :) it runs from Monday - Sunday and the first day is a fitness test. Throughout the rest of the week there is a warm-up which pushes you and then a stretch which helps you get your breath back before going in to it. With the exception of the pure cardio video all the others are built up of circuits. There are four exercises per circuit and you do each circuit three times. Some videos he gives you a 30 second break between circuit other videos if gives you a 30 sec break after all 3 circuits before moving on to the next. Although 30 seconds doesn't sound like a lot I find its just what you need. Good luck :)

Bit the bullet, bought it, so I'll have to use it. I'll need to find somewhere in the house to do it... upstairs may not be a good option if theres a lot of jumping around involved... But, I now own an Insanity Workout! I'll have to take some pictures of myself now and after I'm done so I can marvel at the result.

Here's hoping for the best! Should arive in the next few days! Yay!

Thoughts

This week was a bad week. I mean really bad! I tried, but I swear it was like everything conspired against me. Drives me nuts, my willpower is absolutely rubbish! I need to seriously work on that! I’m shocked my weight still went down a little to be honest!

Overall I am very unhappy with my progress this week. I am starting the Insanity Workout on Monday, and I’m hoping it will kick-start my weight loss. I need something to really kick-start it because this week has just left me feeling despondent at my attempts.

Hopefully next week will be better…

I’ve heard that using Insanity doesn’t always shed weight on the scale, so I’m going to be taking some pictures and measurements and see if I can drop any clothes sizes. I also won’t be counting the Insanity Workout in my Calories Burned through Exercise simply because I currently have no way to gauge how many calories I may have burned.

I’m also probably going to have to up my calories a bit during the programme, but I’ll adjust as I go along.

Providing the workout arrive as the delivery date guarentees on Monday I will be letting you all know how I progress. I'm looking forward to it. I'll need to remember that my parents are fitter than I am and not to get annoyed if they can do it and I can't. But I'm looking forward to it!

I did an extra long Zombies, Brisk walk with occassional jogging! today, I wasn't really thinking about it and by the time I realised I was on a really long road in my area I was too far to turn back. My legs were strangely not as sore as I thought they'd be. lol.

Note to self, find a tape measure before tomorrow.

INSANITY WORKOUT!!!!
