New Here! Wanting to get fit.

Dawn - I'm so glad you got to the Dr. and that he took you very seriously. I'm also happy to hear to told him everything and about everything you eat or take and how you workout. That helps him as he tries to figure out what is going on.

As others have said, a few days away from the gym will not hurt and don't be surprised if you can go faster when you go back. You body needs a break every so often to heal and catch up.

I'm happy that your BF was mad at you. :iagree: That shows how much he really cares. And now we know that someone is definitely looking out for you.

Please keep us updated. Praying that all goes well with your next test.

Hey Dawn

wow you eat pretty healthy!

I hope your echo..thingy..thing comes back negative/clear.

good luck with everything!!!!!

Thanks guys! Omega, I am going to follow doctors orders - I promise! Thanks for the encouragement Serenity, I am trying to not let the bad day here or there wreck me mentally. :) bdm- thank you for your prayers! I will keep you posted. Laureelee- thanks for your good wishes!

Much to my disdain i did not go to the gym this morning. I think what i'm really scared of is I'll take this time off and then I will lose my motivation. Logically I know that my body won't revert back to an out-of-shape blob of jello in a few days - I'm just really afraid that the motivation I've worked hard to maintain will dissapate. :(

Last night's dinner was sushi (edamame, california roll and spicy tuna roll) - with a skinny cow ice cream sandwich afterwards!

Breakfast this morning was Kashi Go Lean crunchy cereal - it was the first time I had it and i was NOT expecting it to be THAT crunchy. LOL. I think I chipped my tooth.

Lunch is a crustless turkey/roastbeef sandwich on whole wheat bread with lowfat/low sodium cheese and spicy mustard. With that I brought an apple, some cantaloupe, a serving of kashi crackers, and a fiber one bar. Snacks are raisins and a quaker oats strawberry vanilla bar.

I'm having dinner with my dad tonight instead of tomorrow, so that means more sushi lol.

HAHA I just got the worst news....

Damn you, lean pockets...that's my favorite flavor and I have like 5 boxes of that at home!

AHHH! THat's the kind I get tooo! Well, I guess this is really an excuse for me to get away from them though....but they're soo good! It's kinda funny that you felt like your tooth was chipped from the cereal and then in the news story about the lean pockets, that guy really chipped his tooth. What's the food industry trying to do...leave us toothless?? Don't worry about going not being able to go the gym...just be extra careful until Friday about what you're eating. If you just skip out on one snack a day it'll be like you ran a mile or two!! ....You are doing great! Keep it up!

Haha yea i was so bummed by that news!

Thanks for the words of encouragement pastelroses! And yes, I will look like a toothless pirate with the crunchy cereal + the plastic or w/e in the lean pockets!

I had a scary lunchtime. For about an hour and a half I had crampy pressure in my chest. I thought it might be heartburn but it didn't burn. It was in the center of my chest and it was pretty significant pain compared to the strange feeling i usually get. I told my boss and he gave me an aspirin and told me to tell him if it comes back. I feel fine now, but that scared me! I'm glad my echo cardiogram is on Friday, though it would be just like me to die the day before I go to get it.... :X

re:dawn

OMG don't die!! Just take it easy and try not to get stressed b/c that could affect you. Everytime I have a stressful day, I end up having weird heart beats before I fall asleep. It scares me!

Dawn -that is my fav cereal. Never had it bother a tooth though. Sorry your lean pockets are on recall. Hey that's one way to get away from them though. LOL

That is a scary episode. I think other than the aspirin, he should have had you get it checked. I don't like the sounds of that.

Hang in there. you'll make it, but if you have another episode, I say go to the ER. Better safe than sorry.

BTW is your job stressful or are you stressing about anything else in your life right now? That could contribute.

Hi bdm and pastel!

Consciously, I'm not stressed. Sub-consciously, who knows I suppose. I was reading about heartburn and was thinking maybe it is that or indigestion. It's difficult to tell if i am inventing more symptoms or if I really have them - now I'm all paranoid!

My echo cardiogram is tomorrow thankfully, so I am looking forward to that. I will be so relieved if these things turn out to be in my head!

Last night I had sushi with my dad, California roll, spicy tuna roll + edamame. It was yummy! When I got home I had a few handfuls of goldfish (bad dawn! bad!) and then Chris ordered pizza at like 8pm...I reeeeally wanted a piece so I cut myself a mini piece - about 1/4th of a slice and oh it was so nice. I had a healthy choice sorbet bar, too. Oops!

I did not go to the gym this morning. My weird chest pain freaked me out enough that there is no way that I'm going before the echo cardiogram.

This morning I had Heart-Right blueberry oatmeal, it wasn't bad, much better than the banana bread flavor! I also took a multivitamin. Lunch will be Healthy Choice Minestrone soup, an apple, some cantaloupe, Kashi crackers and a fiber one bar. Snacks are raisins and my quaker oats granola bar.

I have no plans for dinner yet, maybe I'll just make a lean cuisine at home or something. I'm so lost without my lean pockets! I went home and checked and I totally have a box of the recalled ones. :(

Hi Dawn, I found your diary but I'm scared to read your posts!
I hope you feel better soon!
Make sure you take some quiet, relaxing time for self each day. I have issues with stress and just going to lay down on my bed for 10minutes a day makes me feel worlds better.

your snacks are so freakin healthy!

Good job making the smarter choice, it must have been hard! it's pizza!

Tell me how your echo cardiogram goes, super curious, take it easy, alright?

have a good day!

Dawn - your eating sounds perfect. You are eating healthy and that is what is most important. I'm glad you stayed away from the gym today. Things will get better. I can't wait to hear about your echo. That should give you a lot more info. I'm praying it's just stress and you'll be good to go.

Sorry about your lean pockets. To be honest, I've never had one. I'll have to check all the ingredients next time I'm in the store.

Have a wonderful and relaxing evening.

Hello! Hi BDM!

I am nervous but hopeful for the echo. It's at 2:30, i will post right after it's done!

I'm not sure if i'll get results right away but I'm hoping I will because I would love to go to the gym tomorrow.

Last night I had sushi AGAIN lol. And I'm going to have it today for lunch.

Breakfast was kashi go lean crunch with a banana and a vitamin. Dinner will be...who know!

I'm trying to keep a positive mindset and not get lazy about the gym. I am trying to enjoy my forced days off...but it's hard.

Oh well, I just indulge in sushi instead.

best of luck to you dear.

Stop stressing the gym ;) you'll be fine promise :D. I'll wait and see how your tests went. Here's to hoping for good news. Just try to stay calm (easier said then done I know) but you want to go in there with a normal heart rate lol. what will be will be and we'll be here to support you :D

Hi Dawn,

Not sure where you live, so I don't know when it will be 2:30 your time, but I'm on EST and I will think of you then. Try and relax about it and I'm hoping they will give you some info today. I'm sure if it is not good news, they will advise you not to WO until you talk with your Dr. Make sure you ask. Otherwise, they should tell you what you can do. Hang in there.

Hope your apt. goes well!

Hey Dawn,
I can't wait to hear about your apt. today. I hope it all goes well. You'll be in my prayers! :Angel_anim:

Worried about you

Hi Dawn,

I've been checking the thread and haven't seen you yet. I'm praying everything is ok. I'm worried. Please remember we are here for you no matter what.

Hope your echo appointment goes well. I bet it will :) Good thoughts your way. Your eating sounds like it is pretty good, and it sounds like you were a total gym rat there for a bit before this. You'll be back in no time;)

-Sam

Hello everyone!

Sorry I didn't update sooner!

My echo went great! The lady told me that it looked fine and that they will send it to a cardiologist and if there was a serious problem she wouldn't let me leave. That was Friday, so Saturday I decided to hit the gym but take it easy (not do the 5 miles i usually do). I did 2.5 and walked most of it.

Friday night i decided to have a last hurrah and we went to dinner where i was so bad! But i didn't feel too badly about it.

Saturday I was back on the wagon with the gym and the eating. I had cereal for breakfast, sandwich/fruit for lunch, and lean pocket for dinner + more fruit.

This morning I'm going to try to get some tennis in with chris. Breakfast was kashi honey sunshine!

For anyone who happened to stop by and hasn't seen my post in the Exercise forum about my chest pains, I've been having slight strange feeling/pain in my chest periodically throughout the day and have noticed my heart skipping abeat or two while I am running on the treadmill. I'm going to try to make an appointment with a general practitioner for Monday so i can make sure that I am healthy enough to work out. I was bulimic for two-three years and I am hoping that I didn't do any damage to my heart. :(

Did your doctor rule out anxiety? A couple of months ago I had this problem where I felt like I couldn't get a full breath in, and I was getting chest pains when I did exercise. They ran full bloodworks and lung tests and it all came back normal, it all came down to anxiety, and because I was so worried about it it just made it worse. Once I knew what it was it went away.

Did your doctors run bloodwork? Your symptoms can be caused by anemia?

Sometimes you can get anxiety for no reason at all, and you can be more prone to it if it runs in your family. If they have ruled out any possible physical symptoms, maybe you should talk to your doc about any anxiety issues.

Just something to think about, when your mind is under anxiety or stress sometimes it can come out in physical symptoms, so you realise something is wrong and you can then fix it.
