New Here! Wanting to get fit.

Dawn - it is so great to hear from you and that all went well. I'm glad you can safely exercise again. I've been really worried about you, especially since you never got back on after your test.

Good job getting back on track and I don't blame you for you celebration, I would have too!

Thanks for the replies everyone!

The doctor did mention anxiety to me and talked about the fact that subconsciously I could be stressing out! He did do the echocardiogram just to make sure there wasn't a physical problem, though.

And yea, I definitely noticed that once I googled what was wrong with me I noticed a pain more than before. I'm sure I freaked myself out. He ran full bloodwork on me and the only thing he mentioned was that my potassium was a little high (i eat a banana almost every day).

I'm not sure if my symptoms will go away or not but so far I have been feeling great. If the feeling comes back I'll tell the doctor (i have a follow up appt with him next monday).

I also decided to take it easier on myself with the cardio at the gym. I have no idea what my heart rate goes up to, but I have really been pushing myself to beat my times every day and I think that I should just take it easier and work on knocking maybe a few seconds off my time here and there. I'm still going to do the same distance every morning though!

This morning I went to the gym and did 2.25 miles, the 2 miles was in 23 minutes and 30 seconds. I did 5/10 reps on arm machine, 5/8 reps on chest machine, and 5/10 curls with a 9lb bar - and 85 sit ups. :)

Breakfast was heart smart blueberry oatmeal (purchased in the throes of my paranoia about having a heart attack, haha), snack was a granola bar at 10 am, lunch is a turkey wrap with low sodium/low fat cheese, an apple and baked chips.

Dinner tonight is pork chops!

I hope everyone else is doing awesome.

Gopd job at the gym. I think you are smart to slow it down a bit. Remember you can injure yourself, like shin splints or something too, by doing too much too quickly as well. You're doing great and you'll make your goals, just don't be in such a rush. LOL

Hey Girl!

I have been watching for you to come back and let us know how your tests went. I am so glad that everything appears to be fine. I also think taking it a little easier on yourself is a good idea. No reason to push as hard as you had been. Have fun!

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for coming by :D

So last night I didn't do awful, I had a small pork chop and it was mmm good...I also had a small serving of mexican rice and a little corn - I thought I was home free until I saw that my fiance's mom had made couscous...I LOVE couscous and I ended up eating like the entire box myself haha. Oh well. Could have been worse I guess and it was OMG so good. Olive oil and garlic couscous...i'm drooling at my desk now...

This morning I went to the gym and I got up earlier than I usually do. It's funny, when I first started going I woke up at 5:30 and went until about 6:10...I've graduated to getting up at 4:55, getting to the gym at 5:10 and coming back by 6 so I can be lazy as I get ready to go to work. This morning I did my 2 miles in a slow and lazy 24 minutes! I walked more but when I ran I ran faster (5.8). When I started I could barely run at 5.0! I'm spending much more time warming up instead of jumping on the treadmill and running immediately like I used to. I walk for 3-5 minutes before I start to run.

Today was leg day, and I decided to be brave and grab some 5lb dumbbells and try to do lunges. Well....I may have been a bit overzealous...I don't know how many I did, I just made my way around the big room with the mat on the floor at the gym, but when I stopped I could barely walk haha. I am most certainly going to be sore tomorrow!

I did leg machines but I took it easy since my body was screaming about the lunges. 5/8 reps on one machine, 5/10 reps on another.

Tomorrow I'll go but I will most likely walk if I'm as sore as I think I'm going to be. Maybe do a little upper body work.

Breakfast was my blueberry instant oatmeal + multivitamin, lunch will be another turkey wrap. I brought TONS of snacks with me because I am ravenous at work. I made a large fruit salad of watermelon and canteloupe and brought a bag of cherries too. Actually maybe I didn't bring that many snacks lol. My lunch was heavy this morning though! I have baked chips and a fiber one bar too.

Dinner will probably be low fat turkey dog with some baked chips and fruit. :)

I hope everyone is awesome!

Dawn - great job at the gym. Warming up is very important. BTW, according to the Personal Trainers, you should do your cardio after your weights, it helps you to burn more fat, or so they tell me. And if you start doing your weights first. Warm up on the TM for 5 min first. That was an awesome run speed. Me, 5.0 is tops right now.

So..scratch that, I don't think I will make it to the gym tomorrow lol. Those lunges REALLY KILLED ME. Every time I go to sit down my thighs/ass SCREAM. Walking down stairs to the parking lot after work almost took me out.

If I feel like this tomorrow morning I don't know how I'm going to get out of bed to go to work, nonetheless the gym haha.

Dinner was a low-fat hot dog (40 cals) with diced onion, tomatoes, green pepper, ketchup and spicy mustard with 1/2 a slice of low fat cheese, a peach, a serving of edamame and some baked chips. Dessert was a klondike low fat ice cream sandwich which is no where near as good as the skinny cow ones!

Dawn - do some stretches, that will help and moving tomorrow will make it feel better even though it doesn't seem like it. Just take it easy though.

I totally woke up this morning and didn't go to the gym although I probably should have. I will definitely go tomorrow! I woke up to pee in the middle of the night and almost fell over trying to sit on the toilet LOL. Walking up the stairs this morning to get to my office was also a fun time.

Breakfast was my blueberry heart smart oatmeal + vitamin. Lunch is turkey wrap with low fat cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce and spicy mustard + an apple, baked chips, and fiber one bar for dessert. Snacks are a little box of raisins, a peach, a bag of cherries and a granola bar.

Dinner will probably be another hot dog, the one last night was gooooood.

Hope everyone else is well!

Dinner was a low fat hot dog with a honey wheat bun, ketchup and spicy mustard with low fat cheese, couscous, edamame and baked chips.

I managed to get to the gym this morning but I could only walk. I walked a really really slow mile trying to losen up my sore muscles, then i did arm exercises.

Breakfast was 3/4 a cup of dry kashi crunchy go lean cereal and a vitamin. Lunch is couscous with a chopped up low fat hot dog, an apple and some kashi crackers with a fiber one bar for dessert.

Dinner will be sushi with my dad. :)

Hope everyone is great, if yesterday i was 10/10 sore today i am 8/10 lol. Hopefully tomorrow I will be less sore and be able to be more productive at the gym.

Dawn - good eating. You should be on the upswing with the muscles by tomorrow. Hope you enjoyed your dinner with your Dad.

Hi BDM! Dinner with Dad was great, but I totally pigged out. I had a california roll, a spicy tuna roll, and 2 pieces of salmon sushi. And some edamame. I really lose it around sushi. Any self control goes out the window, lol. I felt like I had a ton of rice. When I got home I ate an ice cream sandwich and then munched on some dry kashi go lean cereal...and then Chris wanted taco bell, so I had half of a ranchero fresco chicken soft taco. Ughhhhhhh lol.

This morning I went to the gym and i didn't feel as sore as yesterday, so I walked for 5 minutes at 3.5 incline at 3.5 speed...and was inspired to try some jogging. I did 2 laps at 5 speed, then walked half a lap and then did 2 more laps at 5.8 speed. I felt really great, the soreness in my thighs/butt was there but it wasn't too bad. When I was done I felt a little stiff so I stretched out and felt better. I did 30 minutes of cardio and went 2.30 miles, lots of slower walking when I took breaks. Treadmill said I burned about 230 calories. I also did 95 sit ups.

Breakfast was weight smart banana bread oatmeal + vitamin, lunch will be lean pocket, kashi crackers and a fiber one bar. I am totally out of fruit and too lazy to go buy something just for lunchtime since I will be grocery shopping tomorrow. For snacks I brought 2 special K cereal bars (they were buy one get one free last week at publix :X).

I'm not sure what dinner will be but hopefully something not too bad.

So...i freaked out at lunch because I ate my lean pocket, crackers and fiber one bar and was still STARVING. I went to the grocery store and picked up a small fruit salad of grapes, apples, and strawberries, and also a pack of "oriental" party mix which is fat free and has 110 calories...the pack has like 9 servings in it and I'm going to try to not eat the whole thing lol. I also got a thing of dried fruit.

Mmm now I have snacks!!

so...tonight we went out to eat. I was bad. Actually, I wasn't THAT bad...until dessert. It's been so long since I've had anything that's really bad (and by bad I mean oh so good) that after the first bite it was over. Bread Pudding. It was HUGE. And I ate half of it. It was really really big. And omg, so good.

I actually don't feel that bad about it. Back on the good food wagon tomorrow, and back in the gym tomorrow morning now that I know that I can run once again lol.

So, this morning I went to the gym and did my 5 miles, but i definitely shouldn't have!

I went the 5 miles in 60 minutes and 45 seconds, but by the time i was done I could tell that my body was just exhausted...because I had a blister! I never get blisters from running, I can only assume that my stride was off towards the end when i got really tired. Treadmill said I burned 500+ calories. I munched on a bit of kashi go lean before I went for some energy.

After that I went and did the grocery shopping and got a bunch of good stuff. Things are SO expensive now though!

I just ate a peach for a snack and i'll eat lunch in about an hour. Probably a low fat hot dog and my leftover couscous with an apple and some baked chips or pretzels. Dinner will be a lean pocket most likely. :)

Dawn - great job at the gym today. Make sure you rest your body a bit tomorrow. you can walk, but don't push it as hard as today. Good job shopping too.
