New Here! Wanting to get fit.

Looks like my best friend will make it here for lunch, which is good. She's going to be late, which is not so good. All morning i was starving, I went to the vending machine to grab some pretzels to hold me over, but they got stuck - so I put in 50 more cents to knock them out and figured i'd save the extra bag...but then i see that the first bag is the only bag...and then it gets stuck right above the opening to get them out of the machine!!!!! Grrrrrrr.

Anyway, I snacked on my dried fruit and almonds. Can't wait for some sushi.

Lunch was a california roll, edamame, a spicy tuna handroll and 2 pieces of salmon sushi. I had my kashii crunchy bar and 5 honey wheat pretzel sticks for a snack.

Dinner was a pepperoni lean pocket, fruit salad and a serving of my dear baked chips. Dessert was a skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

I guess its because im on my period, but I am still STARVING. I feel like I could eat everything and anything. :( and I feel bloated and just all around gross.

This morning i felt like ass and almost turned the alarm off to go back to bed...but I got up and went to the gym anyway! And....my 2 mile time this morning was...24 minutes and 23 seconds!!! Biyahh!!! I also did 65 sit ups and used the leg machines, 3 of them, 5x 10 reps each.

I am PSYCHED. Tomorrow I get the day off from the gym since i was good and went monday-thursday this week. Then Saturday it's back for cardio day - 5 miles baby!

Breakfast was banana bread weight smart oatmeal and leftover fruit salad with a vitamin. Lunch will be lean pocket with an apple, baked chips and a fiber one bar - snack will be honey wheat sticks. Not sure what dinner will be but hopefully not anything too bad. Hope everyone has a happy 4th!!

I just finished my lunch and I found out we are going for sushi for dinner. I never realized just how much sushi i eat until I read back through this diary. -_-

I will be good though! No tempura and not too much sushi. Maybe we will play tennis tonight or tomorrow. It rains everyday here in Florida so we have to play whenever the sun is out!

Last night dinner was sushi, I did kinda ok - had a lot of edamame with a california roll with eel on top + a spicy tuna handroll and 2 pieces of salmon sushi. We got dessert - I got fat free lemon sorbet. I was STUFFED by the time we were done!

Today I didn't go to the gym since tomorrow is my cardio day. Breakfast was fiber one honey clusters cereal + fiber one yogurt. Lunch was a turkey sandwich with low fat swiss + romaine lettuce and spicy mustard with fruit salad, baked chips, and a fruit popcicle for dessert. Not sure what dinner will be but I know we are going to a movie tonight so i am going to make sure i don't go nuts with the popcorn and candy and crap.

Happy Fourth!

We didn't end up going to the movies, so I didn't have anything to worry about!

Dinner was a lean pocket, fruit salad, a salad with romaine lettuce and fat free raspberry pecan dressing, and my baked chips. Dessert was my skinny cow ice cream sandwich.

Tomorrow is cardio day at the gym and I am a little nervous because I think I might be getting sick - I had a bit of a headache and my fiance has a sore throat - I don't want to miss the gym so I am hoping that I will wake up and feel 100%.

So this morning I woke up and had a sore throat but I went to the gym anyway. I couldn't tell if i really felt sick or if i was subconciously trying worm my way out of my workout. I felt REALLY drained and tired on the treadmill but I sucked it up and decided that my feeling sick was mental.

I did my five miles:

2 miles: 25 minutes
3 miles: 38 minutes and some change
5 miles: 64 minutes and 7 seconds
Calories burned: 585

An improvement, so thats good - but i really am not feeling so great right now lol. I think I actually am coming down with a cold. There was an older gentlemen on the treadmill next to me and he asked me if i was mad at somebody because it looked like i was going to run the treadmill into the ground haha.

I read somewhere that I should eat something small before a long workout, so I scarfed down a piece of cantelope and a small piece of whole wheat bread on my way to the gym. Breakfast after my workout was fiber one honey clusters with a banana and a multivitamin.

We are going out for dinner tonight to watch the big UFC fight, so I HAVE to have some control!!

I hope everyone is doing great!

Lunch was a turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with lettuce, spicy mustard, and one slice of low fat jarlsburg (sp?) cheese. I am running out of my baked chips so i only had a few and had a few wheat pretzels instead. I also had an apple and some canteloupe too. My snack this afternoon was a fresh fruit Popsicle.

We decided to go to our friends house to watch the UFC fight and just go out to dinner. We had...sushi...surprise lol.

I had half a serving of miso soup, a california roll, a JB roll (raw salmon, scallions, and cream cheese) and a spicy tuna hand roll. I wonder what the calories are like in that...

We are going to bring our own snacks to our friends house - I'm going to bring a small baggie of smart pop popcorn and maybe an apple...one of my biggest problems is not eating when everyone around me is snacking so I'd better bring something healthy to nosh on.

I usually take Sundays off from the gym (fridays and sundays, most of the time) - if I don't go to the gym I'm going to try to get some tennis in with the fiance.

:)

Last night i did well, only had my apple and small bag of smart pop, although i stayed up much too late - I'm usually on a pretty decent cycle, in bed by 10 and up by 5:00 - Last night I didn't make it to bed until 2:30 and I just know that I'm going to have problems falling asleep tonight.

This morning I am looking forward to relaxing, I had breakfast, fiber one honey clusters + banana + vitamin. Tonight we have to go to the melting pot for my dad's girlfriend's birthday - ugggghhh. Going to have to try to take it easy!

We got in 30 minutes of tennis this morning!

Just had lunch - I made a salad with romaine lettuce, onion and green pepper and put 2 pieces of sausilito turkey and 1 piece of jarlsburg low fat cheese on it and topped it off with raspberry pecan fat free dressing. I also had a piece of whole wheat toast with "I can't believe its not butter" spray on it. Dessert was a fruit popcicle.

I'll probably snack around 3:00 and hope that i can take it easy at dinner time. We went to the melting pot on valentines day and omg the dessert was amazing but definitely not on my diet anymore! Its not going to be easy!

So. I've decided it is impossible to go to the melting pot and be "good". I was very, very bad. =X

This morning I was up and at em in the gym again, I went 2 miles in 23 minutes and 6 seconds, hell yea! I walked a minute and a half and then ran the rest of the first mile, then took one walking break (about 2 minutes) and then ran the rest of the entire 2nd mile! This is the first day I was able to do that.

One problem I have when I'm running on the treadmill is my mouth gets very very dry and when I am going non stop its hard to drink while I'm running.

I did 70 sit ups this morning and then called it quits. I also weighed myself and I haven't lost anything :( Oh well, gotta stick with it!

Breakfast was weight control banana bread oatmeal. Lunch is 3/4 of a turkey/chicken low fat swiss cheese sandwich on wheat bread, an apple, wheat stick pretzels and a fiber one chocolate bar with a banana for a morning snack and a low fat strawberry vanilla quaker oats bar for an afternoon snack.

Thanks for visiting my diary.

I have just read through your diary from the start (luckily it was not too long) - and you are doing great.

You have had some great advice and are making some great improvements.

You are so dedicated with getting up at 5am to go to the gym nearly every day. You will look great in that dress for your forthcoming wedding.

Dont panic about no weight loss this week. It is perfectly normal to retain water around the time of your period. You just never realised it before because you were not weighing yourself so regularly. Most women have a gain in the run up to when their period starts. They then lose it. Some women lose it when their period starts - for others it can be three or four days after the period finishes. As things continue - you get to know how your body deals with things and know what to expect. It is just water and not fat.

The advice to cut right back on processed / packaged food is good. It is really worth doing. Making meals from simple basic ingredients is so much healthier. With a little practice it can not be as time consuming as people tend to think.

I am sorry that you may be coming down with a cold. I take echinacea whenever either of us gets the sniffles - I am sure that it helps. I also take a high dose vitamin C and a multivitamin among my cocktail of supplements and am sure that helps to reduce the regularity and impact of colds.

Thanks for coming by Omega and giving me some reassurance about my non-weight loss this week <3. :)

Hopefully I am not getting sick. I feel OK at the moment.

Lunch today was goood. I'm lucky that I really enjoy eating things that are more healthy...my fiance chris won't touch whole wheat bread with a 10 foot long pole. I asked him to pick me up some from the grocery store one day and he brought me home WonderBread's wheat bread. Still fine, but i laughed because it was so typical.

Tonight Chris's mom cooks and she is making peppersteak. I am going to take it easy at dinner and not go crazy with the garlic bread she makes. After last night's melting pot disaster I am on probation!

Hey Dawn! I decided I'd stop by your diary, since you stopped by mine. All of your food sounds soooo yummy. Probably moreso because I'm on the Sacred Heart diet.

Don't you just LOVE Fibre One Honey Oat Clusters?!?!?!
I am addicted to it...it's all I eat. Though I should probably start changing it up a bit.

Don't worry about your big dinner the other night. It was only ONE. You'l be fine :D

Have a good day!

Hi Adeon!

Thanks for coming by! And yes, I love the honey oat clusters fiber one!

Yesterday I did OK with the pepper steak dinner. I tried eating slowly and only taking a smaller portion - I tried to resist the garlic bread but I ended up eating one piece. Dessert I ate some fresh cherries and a skinny cow ice cream sandwich. I swear those things are my saviors. Every time I get a craving for something sweet I just focus on how good my ice cream sandwich is going to be after dinner.

This morning i was in the gym again, I did my 2 miles in 23 minutes and 4 seconds - I'm pretty pleased because I wasn't sure if I could recreate the success I had yesterday with staying jogging for most of the 2 miles, but I did it! I'm going to try to just stay consistent with this time for the rest of this week and not go overboard and kill myself. I also weighed myself even though i know i shouldn't do it every day, and the scale said 126 instead of 125.5 :O. Oh well, i know it fluctuates.

I did 75 situps, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. I do them on this bench that declines back and has a padded bar to stick your feet under - for some reason it feels like my legs are working harder than my abs when I do sit ups on this thing. I can't lay all the way back yet but I am hoping eventually I'll be able to.

I also did 4 reps of 15 with an arm machine and 3 reps of 10 with a chest machine - I tried messing around with free weights but I haven't done as much research as I should have on exercises to do with free weights so I don't really know what to do with them!

Anyway, breakfast was fiber one honey oat cluster cereal - lunch today is a healthy choice panini thing (300 cals, 4g fat + way too much sodium), some honey wheat pretzel sticks, an apple and a fiber one bar. Morning snack is fruit salad and afternoon snack is 90 calorie strawberry vanilla quaker oats granola bar.

On another note, i was thinking about how I always say i'm 5'2"/5'3" - well, i decided to measure myself and find out once and for all how tall i am...and i found out i'm only 5'1.5"....I'VE BEEN LIVING A LIE AND MY BMI JUST GOT WORSE!!! Noooooooo!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone else is wonderful :)

Dawn - decided to drop by, after you stopped at my diary. I read through the entire thing. Your food sounds pretty good. It was good advise about the pre-processed stuff, but you do eat a bunch of healthy stuff, so you're doing ok.

I to am 5'1.5 doesn't make it to easy to have a good BMI, but I know your's is way better than mine.

You're doing great at the gym. You time improvements are awesome! I'm happy to see you've added some strength training to your cardio. BTW, when you first start to ST, your muscles will hold a bit of fluid. After they get used to the routine, they will let it go. That, along with your cycle is probably has you stalled.

I don't know much about Sushi, or what kind of calories it holds. I know you mentioned you didn't want to calorie count because of a negative past. Can I suggest that you do it just one day, that is normal for you and see what the number is? With all the WO you are doing, you probably should be eating about 1500 cals. If you are not eating enough, that too will keep you from losing weight. You don't have to journal every day, just look back here and pick a day and journal it and see what you come up with.

I think you are doing awesome and I look forward to seeing you make goal for your wedding.

Hi Bigdogmom! Thanks for coming by and for all the nice and encouraging words. :)

I will count calories for a day this week to see exactly how much I am getting. I would guesstimate at around 1600 - but I really have no clue, so I'll fitday today so I can know what i eat on an average day.

So...yesterday I decided to treat myself since I have been pretty dedicated to the gym...I went and bought a 4GB ipod nano! It was a pretty big purchase for me (i am kind of cheap), but I love it! I had a tiny little ipod shuffle (1GB) that worked fine, but the clip would not stay attached to me while I jogged so I had to hold it in my hand or it would fly around everywhere. Now, I have an armband for my nano and I just love it. I was planning on taking today off from the gym but I was so excited to try out my new armband and ipod that I went anyway haha.

My 2 mile time today was 22 minutes and 58 seconds. Small tiny improvement. I notched the treadmill up to 5.6 (I had been doing my 2 miles on 5.5) and my incline is still at 3.5 as usual. This morning I did my leg muscle workout, 5 reps of 10 on 3 leg machines, one of them was leg presses and the other 2 had labels that said they work out the inside of your thighs. I think it mentioned "conductor" muscles maybe? Or something similar to that. I also did 75 sit ups.

In other news, this morning I am mourning the death of my skinny cow ice cream sandwiches. I guess last night I left them out on the counter and they died a slow death. =( What a mess.

Edit: I forgot to list food.

Breakfast - Fiber One Honey Oat Clusters + Skim Milk = 256 Calories

Lunch - Lean Pocket - 300 Calories 7 g fat (I couldn't find the exact one I am having and i'm too lazy to walk to the lunchroom freezer so this is an estimate too)
1/2 serving of Honey wheat pretzels: 80 Calories (rounded up)
1 serving edamame: 90 Calories
Small Fruit Salad: 120 Calories?
1 apple: 74 Calories
1/2 serving of triscuits: 70 Calories
Fiber one Bar: I think this is like 170 calories or something. I'll update when i eat lunch and can look at the wrapper.

Snack: Quaker Oats Strawberry Vanilla low fat granola bar: 90 Cals
Almonds : 1 oz (24 almonds) 163 calories 14g fat (I usually don't eat 24, but figured I should round up).

Thats 1413 before dinner. I eat more than I thought!! Maybe I should eat less? I figure dinner is around 400 calories or so, maybe more. Is 1800 too much?

I didn't eat the almonds, so my calories so far are 1250.

Lean pocket for dinner too - 220 calories. + salad with romaine leaves and 1 slice of jarlsburg cheese = 50 cals

Dressing: 40 cals
1/2 serving triscuits = 60cals
edamame: 80 calories

= 1700, plus my dessert which will be about 90 (fruit popcicle).
