Thanks, I do need to smile more. Thank you!

Well, tested bodyfat again today. It said 13%, twice. I didn't drink quite as much water as I should've, so maybe I was just too dehydrated.

I am really impressed with your weight loss. I am also trying to lose weight. I am 32/m/5 feet 8 inches/18% bf and currently weigh 179.6 pounds. I started exercising out at 215 pounds on December 1st 2010. My exercise regiment is mainly walking @ 3.7-3.8 mph with incline of 3% for an hour on the treadmill 5 days a week, some light muscle building and am on a strict very low carb diet. Also, play table tennis couple of hours a week. I still have a fat belly, much less then I started, and double chin. I have reached a weight loss plateau since a week.

Do you suggest anything to get over this weight loss plateau? I really want to get a flat belly and rid of double chin. Today, I did eliptical @ 160-170 strides a minutes with resistance of 5 for 30 minutes and then 30 minutes on the treadmill. I plan to continue with this cardio routine for 2 weeks to see if I get over the plateau.

Try changing your workouts. If you got a problem (like a plateau) and it isn't working, try another approach. Try lifting light/ high reps, maybe change what machines/weights excerises you do.

Try doing HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). It worked well for me.

Honestly not a big fan myself of the low carb. I'm no expert but I always felt the body needed cards for energy (good cards, like yams, veggies, not junk like white bread, candy). So I don't really pay that much attention to carbs. I've heard low carb diets can help, many people advocate it, but I don't really believe it.

As you lose more weight, its going to be harder and harder to lose . At this point in my weight loss (13% bodyfat), its becoming extremely difficult to get leaner. Give it time, you may have not reached a plateau.

Maybe you have. I hit a pleatau for 7 months doing the same thing, before I changed my diet around completely. That reminds me, how is your diet? If you want to get lean, or lose weight, the diet is the most important! Very important.

My mom is trying to lose weight, and she told me the other day she's going to eat whatever she wants just excerise alot...I told her that wouldn't work, unless you run marathons. You'll gain weight...so, your diet is important. Energy in = energy out.
Good luck to you.

PS: I created a Diary and posted pretty much everyday while losing the weight, if you want to check it out.

Sorry for the very late reply. I recently moved in on my own and didn't realize how hard it is to live on your own. I'm still eating healthy (Or trying my best) and I've managed to maintain or be close to maintaining my current weight.

Your calorinc intake seems too low. Try and reach for at least 1800. It doesn't seem like enough for you, that's enough for a women, but not a guy.

Thanks for the post SparkErosion. I think the change of doing cardio exercise using elliptical and treadmill vs only treadmill ,as well as increase in carbs intake, has broken my weight loss plateau. My weight is down to 176 pounds. Let's see how it goes for next 2 weeks.

I still have a double chin, smaller than before, and lot of stomach flab, less than before at 176 pounds. I thought that it might be much less at this weight point. Hope they reduce with weight loss. I am not sure that I will get rid of the double chin or flab even with weight loss as I always remember having a stomach flab and double chin even when I was thin. I don't want to consider the surgery route but it appears that might be the way out.

It depends also. Have you been weightlifting throughout your entire weight loss? If you have more muscle mass your weight will be more. Also it depends how much weight you lost. If you lost a significant amount you may have some loose skin. I still have alot of "fat" but it took me awhile to realize (and it's still hard) for me to accept that its' skin.

No, I have not been weightlifting the entire period. I did some moderate weight lifting for 5 weeks in January and February. I had the flu most of February and continued with cardio mainly but stopped weight lifting. I weighed 215 pounds on December 1st 2010, when I started my weight losss, and weigh 176 pounds currently. I do arm curls occasionally nowdays. I hope that my weight loss is not due to lose a lot of muscle mass. I can lift the same amount of weight before I stopped.

I will start weight lifting again.

It's not due to loss of muscle mass, but when you lift weights regularly while losing weight, it helps maintain the muscle you have. Without the muscle mass I have, a healthy weight for me would most likely be around 156.

Hiya sparkerosion! how are you doing?
Just had a look through this and wanted to say that in your latest pictures you're looking reeeally good. Fantastic job, seriously.

Thanks. It's been rough the past couple weeks. Had a friend trying to take advantage of me, was going to move in with him and lived with him for 2 weeks then decided it wasn't the best decision. He lives in poverty, so despite buying healthy foods I gained 3 lbs. It's just those 3 lbs were so hard to lose! And it was just after i Rode from Chandler AZ to Northern Phoenix..That was like a 60 mile bike ride. To make matters worse, I crashed my moped at 45 MPH into the pavement, I avoided a collison yet still got a ticket for "Failure to control speed to avoid collison.". I joke about it and say to avoid collison to the pavement. I didnt hurt or hit anyone. So I got some nasty road rash but it's healing well, worked out today. I gotta go to court March 31st to either pay the ticket of $525 or do traffic school.

It was my first accident. I had never even gotten a traffic ticket before. Life sucks sometimes. I'm getting back on track with my fitness, and 3 lbs isn't that big of a deal .
