my diary

I am so glad that your UTI is clearing up. That bad bout that you had sounded horrible!!! Not a nice place to be itchy, you can't reach to scratch either.

And don't sweat you net cals being up one day. I am sure you will have seen it said around the forum that cycling your calories is good for stopping your body going into starvation mode, so it has probably worked out really well. Keep up the top job ;)

Oh and M2M, what a brilliant idea introducing kids to exotic animals and insects at an early age. I do have a bit of a thing about spiders (I'm a lot better than when I was a kid, I used to be TERRIFIED!!), but I know that it is irrational. They are small and scared of me!! So catching kids when they are young, and letting them see that they are okay is really brilliant ;)

I agree about trying to stamp it into younger kids that there is nothing to be feared from creepy crawlies. My younger cousin is 5 years old and her mum and dad are terrified of crawly things so I took it on myself to teach her that most crawlies are nice little things. Here's some of my favourite photos including one of her with my new boa. Shevisited me last Friday and wanted to see the "noo snakie"

You fit into the size small shirt? You are my hero!!!!! That must have felt so good...but I know what you mean about liking your t-shirts a little longer. I like them to cover my butt!!!!

Hope the rest of your weekend goes well!!!

Hey Crunchie,
Good Morning :D

You and Mrs. B are right about the early introduction to creepy crawlies - Megan has always loved them, whereas, I, ahem...do NOT ;)

We go camping a lot, so I've gotten used to them. I can deal with them in the wild, but should they enter my house, I'm prepared to move!

It took me 15 minutes to figure out what UTI means! Duh!! You are doing really well. And those photos of your cousin are adorable. And M2M's kods are cute. This diary is a buffet of cuteness and you're the cherry on top!

M2M, you might not like them, but you were really brave getting near them with your daughter. You are obviously able to see that it is irrational, and know it is a good experience for your daughter and get over it. Well done ;)

Hey Crunchie. Busters cage had a clean out today. He had stood in his mess and scrabbled at the back wall .... as Alan Partridge would say, it looked like some kind of dirty protest :D . We put new bark in, washed all his branches and have moved his UV light from the back wall of the cage to the ceiling, as the little vandal kept knocking it out of its clips  . We also gave him a bit of a wash too, like having a shower before getting into a nice clean bed ;)

Hope you've had a good weekend :)

From a really early age, Megan was interested in all things dinosaur and reptillian. At that party, there was skinks, monitor lizard of sorts, a rosy boa, and the 10 foot albino python. I'm much better with scaley creatures then I am with crawly things.

We were once camping at a place where there were more bugs then I had ever seen - as you walked up to the bathroom, the walls were covered in what looked like "Fuzz". It was a solid mass of Daddy Long Leg like spiders that created a mold like appearance until you threw a pebble at the wall and they scattered - it was horrible! Not to mention all the stag beetles, flying cockroaches and who knows what else.

Once, when Meg was little, Bob was out of town over night and a HUGE green grass hopper was in my house. I grabbed some water, some food and the kid and hid out in my bedroom (with a towel under the crack of the door) and we didn't leave the room until morning. When I peeked out the next day, it was dead on the floor. ;)

In front of M, I try to put on a brave face. I don't want her to pick up on my idiotic fears, I'll pick up and move spiders now, where before I would have thrown a brick at them. I'm getting better!

My morning walks are therapy, since I go so early, I'm generally the first to break through the layers of webbing that cross my path. I spend most of my walk brushing off the webs ;)

Crunchie, I don't know how you live with that tarantula, but you are a MUCH stronger woman than I am!!

I'm the same on the post .... always walking through cobwebs  I'm better than I used to be, now its just annoying because they are sticky and tickle ..... I don't mind the small spiders much anymore.

Gosh Crunchie, I bet you think you're on the livefoods forum :D

Livefoods Forum?

I'm almost afraid to ask!
Almost, but not quite?

It's a forum linked to a shopping site where you buy live food ..... locust, worms, crickets ...... I can remember, before I had a lizard, delivering parcels with 'live insects' written on them ... sometimes they would be chirping :D

And they sellsome quality livefood at that, at my local rep shop the tubs of LF are £2.75 and half the crickets are dead. Livefoods ones cost £1.80 and usually the postage isn't too much. :D If I was a tarantula I'd much rather eat livefoods crickets!

That is just like by us. We got Buster from Cadbury Garden Centre, which is huge and has everything under the sun, plus lots of animals and animal supplies. We went there today, and spent £2.50 on the last box of locusts (lots of crickets there, though) and there were lots of droppings so they had obviously been there a while. Often there are lots of dead ones in the boxes, but these ones looked quite healthy, so we got them, but I much prefer ordering off the internet. When it was very cold in January, we had an order come through and a lot of them were dead from the cold. We got a full refund, which I thought was excellent service.

I had pirhanna in college, they were fed feeder goldfish for their foods... that used to be pretty disgusting to see 1/2 eaten goldfish in floating aorund in the tank... but the sadistic part of me used to be amused by watching Romeo and Juliet chase after the goldfish goingin for the kill.. i was always amazed they didn't eat each other :D

DOn't crickets get very loud when they are waiting to be eaten?

Yes, we used to put them in a cupboard to shut them up. We only get locusts now, and they are silent apart from the 'ping, ping' against the tub. But now we get one tub every week or two, and he eats all of them in one go. And he eats them whole, no waste and no 'limbs' hanging around ;) It is fun to watch .... I guess I am a bit of a sadist as well

People just seem to buy these live critters at our local Pet store.

It was live food that made me put my foot down with Megan ;)

In college my roommate had a boa constrictor which was fed live mice. It was kind of disgusting and interesting to see at the same time. I always felt a bit guilty putting the mice in there. How many calories in a mouse anyway?

I laughed so hard at that I nearly choked on my tea!

Hi Crunchie! I have to go back a little to tell you that 1700 calories (from many days ago) was NOT terrible, it's a "cycling" thing. It's certainly not enough to make you gain. It may not even be quite enough to make you maintain depending on your build. So please don't stress about that. You're active enough that a higher day like that can do you a lot of good.

That being said, everything else looks great. I know your goal is right around the corner, and hope you get there soon! Take care!

Oh my GOOODDDD! your soo flippin close to your goal... wanna trade?? lol.. neways, your food looks sooo good, keep it up!!!
