I notice that you add calorie points to your excersize routines, then subtract it from your eaten calories. How does one figure out how many calories an excersize burns? For example, I do a 30 min tae bo tape... wonder if I could look it up on the internet.
I don't know if this is how Crunchie does it, but most exercise machines will give a caloric estimate while you're working out (that's usually off by some margin, so I use it as an underestimate), but non-standardized exercises are harder to calculate. Do a Google for "calories burned" and you should find lots of sites that give estimates on what you burn. There is a huge amount of variance by person, and also how you do the exercise (naturally if you put all your energy and soul into a work out and push yourself hard it'll burn more than someone just going through the motions), but at least you can get an "ish" number :p

I just got back and color me impressed. Keep it up--you're doing fantastic and your goal is so close. I hope you'll keep posting while you retain. I just got a new Great Big Sea CD in Canada and will be using it as music when I walk.

Jeezo well it's taken me an age to get back in order so firstly I'll say sorry for not posting in since last week.

I had a great time with my friend over the weekend, unfortunately that involved eating probably 4 huge bars of Swiss chocolate, a bucket of pop corn, an alcoholic cocktail and a curry (though to be fair I did go for boiled rice instead of fried heh).

Thursday I picked her up in Fife and we had lunch then went to the cinema. I went up the town and bought a big storage box that I thought would work well for the giant millipedes. As I was transferring them I had to carefully remove a mother guarding a nest of eggs. Later on THursday we went to the cinema and at night watched vidos while eating Swiss chocolate yum yum.

Friday we had a big breakfast then met up with my friend Austen and went for a walk up to the Falkirk wheel then to the deer park. Both my pals wanted pictures taken with some of my animals so I took a few and surprisingly there turned out to be a couple of cracking pictures.
At night me and Jenny went swimming but an hour of the two hour session was spent chatting up the life guard. I have been chatting to him via MSN but not really sure what to do now. I think we're meeting up next week and of course I'll see him this Friday.

Saturday I dressed my friend up in the strip of my local football team and took her to see a game. It was boring unfortunately but we amused ourselves by imagining what the players looked like with their tops off.;) On saturday night we went out for a curry with some of our other friends and had a great time there too. I was a bit upset on Sunday when my friend left which is strange as I'm usually an anti social git!

Here are some of my favourite photos from the weekend...

Jenny and Austen with Whisper the tarantula and Tiree the boa constrictor

Me and Jenny at the Falkirk wheel

Jenny wanted her photo taken with a large impressive arachnid. I had a few to pick from but she went for Whisper the Brazil Black tarantula

Oh I forgot to say I have a UTI at the minute so probably retaining a fair bit of water. I really hate UTIs.:(

Oh yuck - UTIs are the worse - Cranberry extract if you can get it where you are helps to keep it away... cranberry juice (not the cocktail variety that's almost all sugar, but the stuff fromhealth food stores that makes you pucker is also good...

Hope you're feeling better soon :)

OooH Pictures... Your friend Jenny is beautiful... and tall... you are absolutely adorable... you two must break hearts whereever you go... :D

It sounds like you had a blast Crunchie. That's great! Nice pictures. If all the women in Scotland looked like you two when I was there 15 years ago I probably never would have left ;-)

Uh oh! Didn't you fib about having a UTI a couple of weeks ago. And now you got one.  <Twilight Zone theme plays in background.>

Get better soon, Crunchie. :)

Its so great to have you back, Crunchie :) I am glad you had a good time with your friend, and the photos are fab!! That is one hell of a big tarantula!! ;)

What has your weight done with your treats, or are you going to wait a while to let the reatined water go before you weigh?

I weighed in on Monday and it had amazingly stayed the same. However when I weighed yesterday (first day of noticing UTI) I found I'd gone up to 145lb again. I hope this is retained water due to exercise yesterday (did a fair bit), the heat wave (it's 30oC in my room at night) and the UTI. I'll try weighing again tomorrow for the Friday scale day and will see what I come out at then.

Even one pound up is impressive :) . But if you are retaining water, be prepared that it may take longer to go than a couple of days, so don't be too down if the result is not as hoped tomorrow ;) Apart from your treats, were you sensible the rest of the time?

wow. sounds like you had a fun time. :) and nice pictures!
as for the pound, it sounds like it was just water weight due to salt.

Great piccies....how adorable you are!!!!! Sorry to hear about your UTI....yucky!!!!

hope you have a great weekend!!!!

Any kind of sick is awful but I've heard especially bad stuff about UTIs... I hope you get over it soon! Its kind of nice to take a couple days' break every now and again, but I hope you got your weight-loss batteries recharged now! :D

Right yesterday was ok so I won't dwell on that but today has been a total disaster!

I had eaten more or less all day on the assumption I would be buring something like 650 cals at the gym and swimming. However when I got home at night I checked one of my snakes to find he'd gone AWOL. When I had searched upstairs I had to admit defeat and tell my mum who was (funnily enough) raging. We searched high and low and by the time the scaley villen had been caught it was too late to go to the gym or swimming.

As a result I have a net caloriesreading of about 1701! :( Tomorrow I will do much better!:)

By the way I'm sorry I haven't had time to catch up on diaries yet, things have been really hectic here even without my friend. My UTI seems to be clearing up now I have antibiotics.

Beagle you heard right about UTI's this one I have now isn't as bad as some I've had. The worse one I remember I had during m period and somehow it actually resulted in my period stopping. I remember my urine being bright orange, being very itchy.... you know....inside, the smell was really horrible as well. I had to lie on a towel with no under wear until the anti biotics kicked in. That's not to mention the severe pain I got when I had to go for a pee (which was about every 10mins). Yes UTIs are not fun to have!

Right today has been much better in terms of calorie intake and I managed my 5 a day fruit and veggies though I rushed up the town at 10.30am without breakfast! Opps!

Anyway I had to go up the town with my mum to get some stuff sorted at the bank and also to buy my football team's strip for this season (was cutting it fine as the first game kicked off today too). I love football strips, they are so comfortable (or the Falkirk FC ones are anyway) so I got mynice new top which was a size medium, the small did fit but I prefer my T-shirts to be quite long so I went for the medium.

I had a lunch of baked potato and coleslaw with a bit cheese then headed to Dundee for Dundee Utd Vs Falkirk. Falkirk won the game 2-1 which was really good, it means we're now sat second top of our league which is the best in Scotland though I'd be daft if I thought we'd stay there for long hehe.

Tea consisted of pasta and homemade sauce with a little cheese again and then had some snacks of fruit while we watched the Scotland under 19 football team take on Spain in the European championship final. Unfortunately Scotland were on the wrong side of the 2-1 scoreline this time but the young boys did very well to make it to the final.

Tomorrow I hope I manage more of the same!:D

Oh geesh Crunchie - snake retrieval MUST come before a gym...

oy!!

Honestly though, I have no problem with the snake living in my back yard, I really feel he's doing his job taking care of any rodent problem I might have had without him, but that TURANTULA omg - no, your friend is a braver girl then I...

Here are some picts of my daughter's birthday several years ago...the hissing cockroach almost didn't live ;)
