MicheeH's Journey to a Healthier Lifestyle

Thanks antyoch! :) The celery soup is delicious, definitely worth a try. I definitely have improved the eating habits aside from a few slip ups still and learning to eat smaller portions but hey gotta start somewhere :) I'm aiming for 260 but would eventually like to be between 240-250 as well. Good luck on your weight loss!

Yuck celery!!! It is the one thing I cannot stomach. Honestly I like every food from weird stuff like fennel to well basically anything but I just cannot stand celery. My dad is the same, it is really funny. And my worst enemy food wise is my nana's favourite salad: green apple and celery salad. Puke!

Anyhow I am glad to see you are doing fine, 40 minutes on the elliptical is beyond awesome! And your food looks good mostly ;) we all have off days, no point beating ourselves up about it, but the way I see it, if I am eating by the rules 25 days a month and out of the rules 5 that is fine and I should lose weight, since when I was gaining weight I probably ate outside of the healthy rules 25 days a month and really healthy 5 and managed to gain!

Have a great week, Camy

Thanks Camy! That is quite the hatred towards celery that you have haha.

Today i am sooo sore so i decided just to do some sculpting exercises and a half hour walk. I spent about 10 mins on each my arms, abs and thighs and im definitely noticing that i may have to up the weight that im doing soon because its starting to get too easy. I think thats a good sign?lol

Food for today:
B-1 egg, blackberries
S-strawberries
L-salad
S-none
D-beans, brocoli salad

hey! Thankyou for commenting my journal :blush5: Sounds like you are doing great with the exercise (Something I need to start emulating)

I agree with Camy about celery though! Maybe it's an acquired taste.

I am so with you on this, the feeling I get biting into something soft and getting that weird crunchy sensation is crazy. Down with Celery. Actually I dont mind the taste its the texture that gets me.

What do you mean you want to be 240-250? and your aiming for 260, did I miss something? Btw thank you for your post, that was nice to read this morning.

Haha..maybe i didnt write that quite the right way. My goal weight is 160..once i get there though i would like to possibly make an ultimate goal weight of between 140 and 150. I guess its a mental thing to have the number of lbs id like to lose smaller for now and then work on the ultimate goal later. The goal weight (160) is alot more attainable to me for now, in my mind :)

Man is my body ever feeling the workouts ive been doing! Its actually really nice to feel that burn though because now i know that what im doing is actually working. I plan to do 40 mins on the elliptical today, strengthening routine for my arms and an ab routine. Workout in total should take me about an hour unless i decide to do more :)

Food for today:
B-1 egg, strawberries, cherries
S-yogurt
L-a little bit of celery soup, 1/2 bagel with tomato and swiss cheese
S-trail mix
D-shrimp and mixed veggies
S-apple and peanut butter

ahhh ok that makes much more sense now. You are gonna motivate me to start working out though, your routines seem pretty intense. I know I will eventually have to work out and all but I guess i have been being lazy :).

Im glad i can be motivation for you haha. My workouts are pretty intense and i definitely feel them but...im doing this for results so i guess they have to be. So....off i go to do my pretty intense workout :seeya:
:leaving:

Have a good night everyone!

So i decided to take my measurements a day early (would usually do them every two weeks on wednesdays) because, well i was really anxious to see if there was any change. So here they are:
Waist: 39.5''
Chest: 41''
Hips: 50''
Thighs: 30''
Arms: 13''

That means that all of my measurements have gone down by 1 inch or a lil more! How exciting is that? Im not so happy about the chest (boobs) going down in size but i guess thats the price to pay for wanting to look fit in other places. Wow this is such a good motivator for me! Im so glad i finaly decided that taking measurements would be a good idea too :)

Ugh a lil frustrated today because i hopped on the scale this morning and seem to have gained two pounds back. TOM is coming so im going to blame it on that for now and hope hope hope it comes back off after. I went to the movies last night and ended up sharing a popcorn with my boyfriend (probably shouldnt have done this) and having a few fuzzy peaches (probably shouldnt have done this either). Man, TOM cravings sure are a killer because any other time id probably be able to fight them. Lets hope the rest of the next week or so will be better in that department and that the weight that came back on will come off soon again. Ugh, frustrating :cuss:

Workout yesterday was awesome! May take a break today or just do a lil less as im super tired and the weather is soo crappy it just makes me want to sleep.

Food for today:
B-1/2 bagel with tomato and cheese, strawberries, cherries
S-none, not hungry
L-steamed veggies, 2 slices ham
S-banana
D-ham, veggies

Ahh, I gained an unexplained pound today too. I'm going to quite happily blame it on TOM too :Angel_anim:
It is quite annoying though.

Geez! We're all cycling together! And yeah, those cravings are a killer. I always crave sweet stuff. Instead I'm going out to the garden and am going to pick some romaine lettuce and broccoli, maybe some cucumbers if theyre mature enough.

And your workouts are wonderful. It's making me anxious to get back to the gym this evening, and catch back up to you! :p

I think working out has now become a habit for me because no matter how tired i was yesterday and how much i wanted to just be lazy i still ended up doing a half hour on the elliptical. Its like my body was saying "hey you, move it or il make u feel guilty", seriously, it was almost like i wouldnt be able to go to bed without doing some form of exercise to make me mentally and physically happy for the day. I'm not complaining, i think this is great and certainly shows me how my lifestyle change is slowly working for me.
Im really excited! My boyfriends mom has an exercise bike in their house that she never uses, so i heard about this and asked my bf to ask her about it and if she was willing to sell it at all to me. Turns out shes going to give it to me for FREE, today! Im not sure what kind of bike it is, but i know its fairly new and barely used and would have been originally $300! I cant wait to get it in my house and try out a workout on it later tonight. :)

Food for today:
B-bagel with cheese, tomato (ate the whole thing :ack2: )
S-strawberries, cherries
L-tuna sandwich, veggies
S-yogurt
D-more shrimp, veggies
S-apple and peanut butter

Sweet score on the bike! And great job getting on the machine and working out despite feeling lazy. I hate TOM gains, it's hard to tell if you are making progress when you can fluctuate up to 10 lbs in a few days! Have a good day !

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Mine was great! Went to the beach again and just had a good relaxing time doing really not much at all and driving around aimlessly exploring new things with the boyfriend. Still uncomfortable laying/walking around the beach without being semi-covered up :( Eating habits over the weekend weren't great though, i find it really hard to resist temptation at the beach, especially when im always out and doing something.

Good luck to us!

Hey Mich! Thanks for the welcoming! :waving:

It looks like you are doing really well with your planning. It sounds like you know what to do (your meal planning dated July 17th is great), but you seem to have a tendency not to follow it (your meals posted this week). Planning your meals out ahead of time is a real big part of this. One of my favorite sayings is: Fail to plan and you can plan to fail!

I'd recommend ditching the fruit in the evening and keep it to the beginning portion of the day and have some cottage cheese as your evening snack instead.

You're doing a lot of long duration steady state cardio. I'd cut that back to just once a week and look at high intensity interval training (also known as H.I.T.T.) twice per week and start incorporating some bodyweight (unless you have dumbbells at home) workouts into your week. If you like you can check out my blog later this week as I'll be posting some bodyweight workouts there.

Good luck!

Thanks StrongEnough! I have done it before too so i know i can do it too. I think this time my mindset is a bit more set on actually doing it to keep a healthy lifestyle though. Unlike every other time where id do it and then just fall right back into old habits and gain back the weight again. I am very positive that we can do this as well!

Great info core_elements! You are soo right about planning meals because as soon as i dont plan i tend to fall apart. I joined a site called sparkpeople.com where im now planning my meals out and its great because it shows the calorie intake as well. This past weekend was horrible i know :ack2: Being at the beach definitely is a huge setback for me, especially when im always out doing something there. Im going again this weekend so my goal is to try to find healthier options. I would LOVE to change around my workout for sure and will definitely be checking out your bodyweight exercises and be doing some research on H.I.I.T. I have a few dumbbells at home (5 lbs, 7 lb, 10 lb) and a bowflex type machine, but i actually prefer bodyweight workouts. I really love the cardio workouts on the elliptical so just doing one a week might be hard for me because i love it soo much haha. Thanks so much for your input! Keep it coming! :)
