Marsia's Diary

I despise insurance companies. Yes, they're putting up the premiums (I expect - obviously I don't really know) to cover the payouts they had to make for last year's fires - they would never dream of covering that from, I don't know, their own massive annual profits. And the way they wriggle and wriggle to avoid paying out is... really something.
That said... "high-risk fire area". :( Frightening. You've got all your plans in place - evacuation and so on? It's just heading into fire season in Australia, and... yeah, frightening.

Ahem!
I got so worked up about fires and insurance companies ( :blush5: sorry!) that I didn't respond about the art. It sounds fabulous - the paper/film that can take reworkings, and (especially) the non-judgemental, supportive appreciater of the art.

Sounds like a great day Marsia . Sorry about the insurances and expenses . We get that here too loading policies for floods etc .
It's good to think about your retirement plan too .

Hi, hon :grouphug:
I'm so glad that you had a lovely time but are home again safely & can hopefully have a bit of a chill.
Insurance companies & banks are greedy grubs.
It's good that your Mum does listen to her doctor. You have an ally there :)

Marsia
Anything technical like that scares me. Good for you. You have reminded me I have paperwork to do which I procrastinate over . Hope you have a more active day today

Had a heart attack because my back up drive with 5 years of data on it was not working, but it is now, and I will buy 2 back up drives this time for redundancy!
I feel for you! :D Glad it had a happy ending!
Do you do art Amy?
I do sometimes, like doing posters for community events, as called for. It's one of the hundred things that I would like to do, and don't do. I should take a leaf from 101's book, and be more organised about what I want to do.

Marsia- you have reminded me that I must copy all my old stuff off my old laptop onto my new & then back them up. I have been so slack not doing it. It's way too time-consuming, especially when you are not too sure if what you are doing is right. I seem to spend too much time online as it is.

CAte I have culled back on my online time dramatically. Frankly I don't have time really and I get overwhelmed when I am on too much. There are some scary statistics being bandied about at the moment about kids times online .

Happy Thursday hon! Why is that doctor still working in his 80s, lol. I feel my generation will be forced to work till the grave, the way it's going! I want my vacation time when I'm retired! I've never seen my parents happier.

How many children do you have Marsia, and how old?

Your day sounds so positive, Marsia. Hope you got a chance to fit in some gardening, art & that shower before K got home xo

Marsia as always you make me want to garden. Sounds lovely. Em I agree with you that we will be working to the grave although I do luckily have pension albeit a lot got wiped out . They are saying anyone under 40 should be making plans as the state pension won't exist in 30 years time . Already the pension age is I think 67 now so that will definitely increase . Of course the civil servants are all sorted !
Sorry Marsia hijacked your diary lol

I just hate the idea of putting my money into a scheme that may or may not pay out in 35 years time. The world will be so different then.

Yes luckily I started pension at 19 years of age so although some got hit by recession I have my little pots . Certainly in 35 years time Emily the state won’t be subsiding anyone ! Keep healthy and that’s half the battle anyway .

Hi, Marsia. Your yard must be looking great. Deer resistant plants would have to be very tough! I love the sound of it all. It seems so different from here. Your tired muscles will be well worth it. I'm getting out today too.

Your garden must be paradise. Please, please be careful with power tools on the roof though! Working with a dull anything sounds dangerous, much less a chainsaw, so I'm glad you're at least waiting for a proper one.
