Marsia's Diary

Marsia, are you in the US? Do you enjoy working with J or would you rather do your own thing? Just curious.

Also, desk jobs are a necessary evil unfortunately. I always think if I was in another era, I would be writing anyway, so I've come to terms with it. ;)

What was your field Marsia ?
Em you can still write

Marsia- one of my favourite nieces is a counselling psychologist & does art therapy!
Yay for drumming class, listening to your Buddhist teacher(I'm envious) & eating out at a Korean tofu house & enjoying a 3 day weekend :D
because I wake up early springing out of bed at around 6 or what?
I wish!
:grouphug: (because I feel like I need one) xoxo

Marsia I think it's a shame about interns not been respected enough to be paid for their time , even a basic living wage. It's no wonder there is a shortfall of people in the profession. I actually know someone who is in the boat and has settled for an office job but that's where their passion lies .

I'm tired too ny nightfall. I'm putting it down to jam packed days and getting up early too. It's the way we should be .
Guessing it's labour day weekend . Have fun :jump:

Ha, I love the fact that you have a Buddhist teacher. And you live in California. :D

Also, I'll be posting my weigh-in results shortly on my diary, along with reflections on the week. ;)

Yes, my lifestyle is a total cliche. I am from a hippie family and am both a Buddhist and a native Californian. And I do art, organic gardening, and just took up drumming. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. But it's a happy lifestyle, and I like it!!
Finding what makes you happy is the best thing you can have in life. Also: congrats on the loss!

It's beautiful out and I am hoping to get to the beach today. Have to go out of town because, yes, it's Labor Day weekend here, so the local beaches will be swamped with people from Silicon Valley.
Your lifestyle sounds almost perfect to me :beating:
The world could do with more hippies :beating:

Hey Marsia,

You know my daughter and her boyfriend moved to Silicon Valley last year. She loves the weather. No winters! Not overly hot, either.

Sounds interesting, figuring out patents. You must see some crazy stuff :)

I'm generally into the concept of Zen also. It must be interesting to have a Zen teacher. Have you ever read Zen and the Art of Archery? It's about a guy who goes to Japan to learn about Zen and archery, although I forget which order. I think it was one of the earlier books introducing Zen to the west. It was very cool - he actually did become very good at archery by sticking with the concepts from his teacher.

...it's so weird that doctors and psychologists need to do years of unpaid work to get into the profession. Also, those of us from working class backgrounds tend to be underrepresented in the field of psychology, and the politics tend to be slanted toward the middle class view of what happiness and psychological health is.
Given the costs of education, let alone the virtual non-payment during years of "apprenticeship", I guess it's not surprising that people from working-class backgrounds are under-represented. :( And from that, that there's a middle-class view of what psychological health looks like. Interesting ideas to ponder - thanks!

Weigh in is 178.8, so lost a pound and an ounce.
Down a pound and an ounce is good, good for you!

Sounds good to me, I always liked California, hippies and all!

Give me the Californian lifestyle any day, and as you might say, it sounds awesome! :D

Well done on the loss, you’re doing great.

I'll still do art but 4 hours a day is not good. It is a good way to kickstart doing art again, but takes away from me having a social life and exercise.
I´m pretty sure that exercise wasn´t meant to cause you more stress but instead force you to dial down all the other stuff you do. Which... sometimes isn´t possible. I hope you get to keep up some of your daily art time though!

Hi, Marsia :grouphug:
4 hours of art a day does sound really difficult to fit in with everything else you like to do & need to do. Your mum might feel a bit less dependent if she can see better. My Mum was able to do away with her glasses when she had them both done. I'm going to do some gardening next week too.

Great that your mother has so much improvement in her vision. :) And four hours of art a day sounds wonderful, even if too much to keep up as a regular thing. Is this painting, with advice from a tutor?

Marsia glad your mum had improved and great to hear you are doing well with therapy . Therapy is not a big thing in Ireland and it's very expensive to go private and impossible to get on the health service.

Happy pAinting . Therapy in itself :)

Hi, Marsia. The warm weather was just a teaser. It is freezing again & it rained all day yesterday! Spring is like that though & I always forget & pack away my super warm clothes & then have to bring some back. Oh, well. We visited our niece yesterday who does art therapy. I'm going to try to go to an open day at the place she does her art therapy as they also have yoga classes & other things I'm interested in.
I would like to have a chipper. I might check out how much they are.
xoxo

Marsia sounds like you had a lovely visit . Those insurance guys know how to get their money ! Hope it's not too steep an increase.
