Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

I'm confusalled about the whole calories minus exercise thing too! Some people say you should eat more, some people say you shouldn't. Personally I only count food, I think maybe if your burning more than 700ish calories a day through exercise you should increase your calories. We are not losing weight at an unhealthy rate, so its fiiiiiiine! I hope :)

I KNOW! The website was down for ages!!!!! I was in a panic to Amy on facebook, it felt like the world had semi collapsed and I drunk calorific orange juice.

You are in a flat aren't you? Hope I'm not wrong :/ I have 5 flights of stairs in my house, its a pain in the arse. I am always going up and bloody down trying to find things. It gives me the hump.
 
Ja, you're right about the fact that we aren't losing stupid amounts of weight, so tis all good. :) I think I reallllllly notice when I've not had enough, though, if my exercise calories have been huge - I just get sooo hungry. I turn into this weird monster with arms outstretched searching for anything that I can shovel into my gob. So I suppose that we should just listen to our bodies in that respect...

YUP! I didn't get pissed, and I DID enjoy myself! It wasn't really much of a pissy situation, so that's okay. BUT last night, we went to a barbie, and I DID get pissed. It was fun :) It's been a while... Plus, my man and I have been doing some big talking and.... well, we've decided that last night will be the last time that I will be drinking for a LONG time. The story we're tellign everyone is that I'm going on a 'detox'... let's see how long that lasts :)

Yup, we're in a flat. NO, I don't live in a mansion on lake Zurich! Hahaha!!! Maybe AFTER my book becomes famous and wins the booker prize ;)

Anyway, must trot off to get my MRI. Boo. Will let you know how it goes, and will write my food (bad, too much!) from yesterday when I get back.

Haha! I know! I wondered how many poor people out there were going and buying boxes of chocolate biscuits and devouring them until the refresh button actually did something... haha.

:) Thanks for the congrats! My man is taking it really easy on the alcohol at the moment too - his 'diet' plan is simply to restrict himself to 6 drinks a week, and it's working really well for him. So it's nice to not be the only one.

Yesterday - Well. Because it was going to be the last time I would drink for quite a while, I kinda let loose. Not badly, at all, but just kiinda drank throughout the day. The barbecue started at 1pm and finished at midnight, so it was a long haul of a variety of drinks. :) It's rare for me though, so it was really nice!

Too much yummmmmmmy food... I brought my own food (veggie skewers with some bits of halloumi cheese too, and some fruit for dessert...) but I kinda lost self control (maybe connected to the drinking?) and ate everything that was on offer. SO:

YESTERDAY'S FOOD
- 2 slices light rye bread with 1tsp butter and 2 poached eggs
- Ruiboosh (spelling?) tea with 2tsp sugar
- 3 mini nurnberg sausages (little finger size)
- 3 veggie skewers (capsicums, mushrooms, zucchini)with 100g halloumi cheese
- 5 green olives, 20g brie cheese, 4 carrot sticks with tzatziki
- Slice of lemon curd tart, small slice cherry tart, 2 apricots, 1 lindt ball
- 2 glasses prosecco, 2 glasses chardonnay, 2 glasses pinot, 1 sml amaretto.

Had my MRI. Have to wait for the full proper results until Thurs, but the guy says it is obvious that there has been a lot of tearing. There is a lot of scar tissue and major thickening and toughening of the ligaments. He thinks there may be some rupturing... more to come.

TODAY'S FOOD (so far - it's 3pm now)

- Small soy latte and a plain croissant (they were giving samples free! DISASTER!)
- Decaf cappuccino
- Big bowl salad greens with 2tbsp caesar dressing, 25g grated parmesan, 60g grilled chicken breast.

HUNGRY so so hungry...
This is what happens when I don't have a real breakfast. A croissant with coffee AIN'T BREAKFAST, woman!

Been chewing on this piece of gum for an hour, and guzzling the water... might have to explore the pantry again. Wonder if there will magically appear something delicious and nutritious :)
 
Fill up on steamed veggies and a little of something that's higher calorie but better to stick to your guts (boiled potato, low fat cottage cheese, rye bread), perhaps?
 
Thanks Amy! you totally inspired me. Sitting in front of me right now is the yummiest looking thing EVER. And it's crazily low cal.

I had cooked a bunch of brown rice a few days ago (with a little chicken stock to make it yummy) which we never ended up having. I Took a bit out of the fridge, then cooked it with a quarter of an onion, a clove of garlic, leftover mashed up roasted tomato (another thing I didn't use. No oil or anything, just all natural goodness) and stacks and stacks of spinach. Throw on a bit of grated parmesan and YUMMMM!!!!

170Cal for the rice, 25 for the tomato, 15 for the spinach, 35 for the olive oil, onion and garlic, 15, parmesan 30.
290 Cal. YUM!

Whoops. Had a VERY important writing meeting this evening (which went REALLY well, thanks for asking! I'm pumped!) and headed to Starbucks (no judgement required...) to get myself organised before-hand for an hour. I planned it, was aware I was hungry and was going to have something to munch on, so I looked them up before I went. BUT BOOO! I made a mistake and looked up a mini scone! :iamwithstupid:BOO! I really wanted a brownie, but this stupid scone turned out to be like twice as bad!

- Croissant (300) and Soy latte (170)
- Small chicken caesar salad (see above - no bacon or croutons) (300)
- Brown rice, spinach, roasted tomato risotto thingy (290)
- Scone (440 WHAT THE?!)
- Rooibus Tea with 1tbsp coffee cream (20)

TOTAL: 1500Cal

EXERCISE:
30 min walk
30 min riding
 
Oh no :( I am so sad to hear about your poor ankle. Is the toughening of your ligaments reversible through physio?

I am quite impressed that you remembered everything you ate yesterday! I totally blame alcohol. Why is it that a salad just won't do when your pissed!

Glad your hubby isn't going to be drinking much every week, it'll make it easier for you. Are you not drinking cos your trying for a baby? :D Or is only to do with weight loss?

I will let you off the croissant and scone as you most probably were very hungover, but no more treats!!!! You have been told! :) x

Yeah, I really did remember everything I ate! Even how many olives! I was paying attention. ;) And yup, STOOPID alcohol!

Well, I haven't told anyone yet, but... no one here knows me or will tell all our friends and family... but... ;) maybe? hehe. Preparing the body and such.

Being a mum is incredible. I love my two so much. When I was pregnant with them both (and thiking shiiiiiiit to be truthful) theres no way I could have imagined the love I have for them. Every time they do something new or learn something it makes me so happy.

UGH. Well after all those smileys, my evening turned pretty crap pretty quick. BOO. My lovely man, who hasn't been drinking very much at all for the past month, came home from a work thing compleeeeeeeetely hammered. Never seen him like that. Vomit all down his front... etc. No more details required. I put him in the shower and then put him in bed. This morning he was so upset and embarrassed... But BLAH - the whole thing has just sucked all that firey creative energy out of me and made me just feel so flat. I was so pumped up after my writing group, and now I got nothing. BOO.

Funny how little things make me want to just eat for comfort.
 
Yup. Very very apologetic. Keeps sending me messages today with things like "I won't ever make you do that again" etc... Wonder how he's going at work today... I think that's punishment enough right there.

Feeling strong :) Feel a lot better now. Went and did a solid chunk of writing - made myself - and I feel a lot more free now.
 
Ruthie, girl, this one's for you. I tried to find a pic of the lake where you can see both the mountains AND the city of Zurich itself... I live about 1km from the very centre of the city, to the right of this picture, but I swim further down. Pretty much, if you look at the far side of the lake in the very centre of the photo - that's where I'd be. :) Mountains to my right, clock towers to me left. Heaven.

Oh, and it's incredibly clean water - it's pretty common knowledge that you can drink it. But... I don't ;) Apparently 70% of our drinking water is from the lake though.

I'm one hell of a lucky gal to be able to live this life, I gotta say.
 
Wow, that's incredible. I recently posted something about a part of my city, and a friend of mine (not from here) looks up the place I was talking about and says "that looks like a depressing part of the world." Pretty much sums it up :(
 
WOW, that is astounding, you really are SO LUCKY! Zurich is now on my list of planned future holiday destinations. No wonder everyone is active and outdoorsy, I would be too if I lived somewhere as beautiful as that.

I had a baby shower for my friend this evening. Not a big one, very low key, but really lovely. She loved it. Yay :) BUT!!! FOOD! My God, it's like I always have to choose between being thin and being sociable. Someone brings a cake, there's a lot of talk about it, pieces get cut, one gets put in front of me. Not eating it is just plain rude. Truly. There was a whole enormous table full of food - chocolates, chocolate biscuits, cakes, two lots of home made choc chip biscuits, truffles, four types of lollies... AH! So even though I did have a small slice of cake (with the jelly babies on top), I could have pigged out like everyone else there, so I'm not too mad.

I need a good day though...

FOOD: 1340Cal

- 1 plain pancake, no added sugar (180Cal) with 1/2 cup stewed apple (70)
- 1/2 cup brown rice with 1 roasted tomato and 1/2cup frozen spinach (270)
- 20g dried strawberries (80Cal)
- 3/4 cup potato salad with sundried tomatoes and green salad (270)
- 1 small slice carrot cake with cream cheese icing (??360) and jelly babies (110)
