Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

Finally, 239 this morning! Funny thing about numbers is that for reasons I never understood, that 239 looks so much smaller than 240.

Needless to say, that's a new low and starts the next chase to get below 230. Getting below 220 will be fun, because interestingly enough, for the non-American/UK folk, that's actually a huge one: 220 pounds is almost exactly 100 kilos. So at 219 I'll drop below 100 kg. Maybe I'll drive to Mexico for a celebration that day...

...probably not.

Awesome work! I've never been that small since childhood. I can't imagine it. If you choose to go to Mexico at 219 don't tell the border guards that you are going to Mexico because you are under 100 kilos. That might be misunderstood.

My model has me reaching 185 on Feb 19, 2014, the NIH model has me reaching it a month later on March 18.

But the question is, what exactly should I weigh? Sometime soon I'm going to see if I can get a DEXA bone density scan. This will give me an accurate measurement of my bone density and body fat and give me a good idea where I should stop. For all I know, I could reach 18% body fat at 210 pounds and be almost done there. Or I could still be 19% at 185 and still need more to lose.

The plan is to move to maintenance at 18% body fat, and hopefully with the workouts and the extra calories, any weight I gain will actually result in a lower body fat%.

The other option is to go by the size of my jeans. I'm now at a 40. I can remember being at 32 for half a year tops as an adult, but also spending several years at 34, before vaulting upward. Interestingly, last time I was at 235, I'm pretty sure I was in 42 or 44 jeans. I'm at 239 and in 40 jeans.

It's all very interesting to me. It's my own personal biology experiment.

I'm pondering the same thing. My plan is to just keep losing weight 'til I'm at my goal, then go see the old doc (who will undoubtedly no longer recognize me) and see how high my bodyfat percentage is.

For so many years I have justified being way heavier that those height and weight charts say I should be by saying "Im big boned" and I think I am but not sure if I really want to know the truth.

Well those things say I should be about 155, and that just ain't the way I'm built.

It will be interesting to see anyway. A bit expensive, perhaps, but interesting.

Anyway, 239 again this morning. Gonna try and see if there's some basketball to be played today.

Was at Trader Joe's yesterday but there wasn't a lot of action to report. :)

Well I found some basketball alright. The stats from the heart rate monitor:

2 hours 35 minutes and 31 seconds. Min HR 75, peak HR 177, average HR 142. Calories burned (per ) = 2397. Net calories (IE extra that I burned over if I was watching TV instead) = 2137. I think I should wind up at a calorie deficit today.

There was about a 20 minute light warmup, and then about a 15 minute break where I waited for the next game after our team lost, but otherwise it was straight basketball the whole time.

Quite frankly, where I was at in June of last year, that I was able to do what I did today just a little over a year later is an absolute miracle. I even played pretty well for the most part.

That's some nice exercise you got there. I'd love to play basketball again, but no such luck with my screwed up right shoulder.

Alright well I wasn't planning on doing drunken posting tonight, but I was at a bar watching the mid-summer classic, and apparently I had enough Blue Moons to do the trick as the light on my TV is sort of double and blurred. I didn't think I had too many, but apparently the basketball did some funny things to my tolerance.

I think I'll go on Quercus' thread and moon him...

Listened to Radiohead's 'Creep' like three straight times right now. Don't know why.

239 again this morning.

No ill effects from the basketball yesterday so far. Going to have a nice big breakfast. A big three egg Omelet with bacon. The eggs are approaching expiration soon and I have to get rid of them.

I love having a hearty breakfast & I find that if I skimp at breakfast I am much more inclined to over-eat at night. It's great that you aren't suffering after your basketball match. You must be getting so much fitter!

Hearty breakie is never a bad idea! But I have heard from a lot of people that eggs are safe well past the best before date... don't hold me liable lol but I've eaten quite a few eggs/egg whites in my time past the sell by date and they were fine.
