Looking to lose an extra human I apparently picked up along the way

I know I was 235 around Christmas of 1998. Otherise I couldn't tell you. But I'd venture no later than 1999. So no I haven't been in the 230s in the 21st century.

My adult low was around 170 when I was around 21 years old (and a bicycle messenger).

Awesome work there! It's pretty amazing when you sit back and try to think about when you were a certain weight. I honestly can't remember being any less than 250lb aside from now while I'm in the process of losing. It's just crazy how fast we lose sight of these things. Keep it up! :)

Checking the weather for tomorrow, the high is only going to get up to 115 degrees.

I've lived through hotter here, but not much. Maybe I'll go mountain hiking at around 2 or 3 pm. Good idea? :D

I grew up in Oklahoma and now that I've lived in New England for ten years I have no idea how I survived the heat! My car didn't even have air conditioning throughout high school.... I guess I've just turned into a wuss now because I complain when it hits 85 :)

244 this morning, 243.9 on the model. Hopefully it's down from here.

Going to estimate my VO2 max today at the health club during my workout using this method:

We'll see where I'm at. One of the difficulties with cardio vascular fitness is that the function of getting tired is heavily dependent on simple raw weight. No matter how good of shape you're in, running around carrying 245 pounds is going to be more physically draining than the same while weighing 175. So even though I still get tired sooner than I like, if I see progress on this number, it's all good. In late January at 293 pounds, I was at 29.

Well, I don't know what got into me, but as I got on the treadmill ready to walk my mile, I said to myself, "hey you're almost 240 pounds now, been working out consistently for almost a year. Why not jog that mile instead?" And I thought and thought and said, "well let's take a chance."

And I did it. My mile was a smooth 11 minutes and 4 seconds (indoor climate controlled on a treadmill) and my heart rate was 171 at the end. I jogged the entire time, initially at 6 mph, but then slowed it down to 5.5 mph after a minute or so. Did not have to slow down after that.

Jogging in earnest is a big step for me, and I'm happy I did it. No need to push it at this point, but it's nice to know that I can slowly start working jogging and then running back into my program.

:hurray: Well done Mr Vee!!! I remember the 1st time(after losing my excess weight) that I decided to have a crack at a run & the feeling of utter relief that I could do it! Every now & then I spontaneously offer to race someone (they usually flog me!) FUN! It's great to feel like a normal human being.

244.5 on the last day of June.

Tomorrow marks the one year mark of this little science experiment I'm conducting on myself. I'll do a one year before and after pic set tomorrow.

That said, I missed my monthly goal by half a pound, the first time I've actually missed one. The week long business trip did me in, I think. In any event, gonna try and be a little more diligent on the calories for a bit just to make sure I'm back on track. My goal for the end of July is going to be around 235 pounds, and a year ago that's territory I never thought I'd see again. Gotta buckle down now.

That's really awesome that you were able to jog on the treadmill! Job very well done! Your weight loss has been pretty incredible too. I know you're probably bummed about missing your monthly goal this time around, but really half a pound is nothing! I wouldn't stress too much about it. You sound like you're already dedicating yourself to make sure it goes fast so you'll be just fine. Keep up the good... GREAT... work!! :)

July 1, 2013. And that is one year on the weight loss program now. Unfortunately I'm now up to 245, but at least that makes the loss a nice even 130 pounds.

Model says 243.1 and has 234.7 as the prediction for July 31. If I come up significantly short of that, I'll make some adjustments (some in diet and also by upping the intensity of my cardio on off-training days). As a rule so far, these little blips which happen when I'm actually following the plan, tend to soon be followed by substantial drops. We'll see if that holds here.

Pics later today.

Huge congrats on the 1 year mark mrVee! :D 130lbs is an awesome loss! That's half of what you currently weigh, or a MiniVee!

Steve

Hey Vee
You can jog now! Congrats I figure I am 20 lbs away from that.
But it's freakishly cool here for July 1 so I'm gonna go get active.

This is so cool, MrVee. You look so much younger, fitter and healthier now, the difference is crazy. You've done really well for yourself.

243.5 this morning.

Just back from a pretty intense personal training session and am really feeling it. Have to remember that this is a good thing.
