Keep Trying!

This is my first weight loss diary. I had never been overweight but during my pregnancy with my first child I gained a lot of weight without thinking of the consequences. I have a closet filled with clothes I can't wear and it's driving me nuts!

This is what I ate today:
Breakfast: Grapefruit yogurt and a raisin swirl bread slice
Lunch: Pasta with tarako sauce and seaweed topping
Dinner: Rice served as ochazuke

I drank loads of green tea and water as well.

I went to the gym and tried the stairmill for the first time and then did the eliptical machine and burned about 400 calories.

Today I'm disapointed in myself because I should have eaten more but the day is over so I'll work on that tomorrow. I just don't like eating for the sake of eating if I don't feel hungry.

There are some carrots in the fridge I can eat once I cut them up and the pineapple in the garden is ready to eat so those can be made into snacks for in between meals tomorrow!

Hi there and welcome to WLF! Yes, I think you need to eat more, maybe 5-6 small meals per day would help. That's what I do. You have pineapples in your garden? Sounds yummy. Where do you live in the tropics? How old is your baby? Sounds like you're off to a great start!

Hello Bikinibound!

Thank you for the welcome! I grew up mostly in Miami but am now living about 30 minutes from Disney World in central Florida. My son is going to turn 1 in September. I tried eating in smaller meals today and was able to eat more calories but it's still a little difficult!

Diary Day 2: Shock!!

So this is day two of my diary and I did much better eating today, I think... I tried eating several small meals and it brought my calories up from yesterday. This is what I ate:
Meal 1 weightloss oatmeal banana bread flavor (this tasted really awful)
Snack Protein bar
Snack Banana
Meal 2 Rice w/mushrooms and other veggies
Snack Broccoli florets (very yummy!)
Meal 3(?) Protein Drink
Snack A little tofu

Before hitting the gym I had a lot of housework to do which included upacking boxes because we recently moved and rearanging some furniture. While doing this I made a discovery which was quite shocking. I was opening some boxes of my pre-pregnancy clothes and it really hit me hard how small they were.

Maybe for some people it would be an inspiration to work harder, but when I looked at those clothes I could not imagine ever having worn something so small. It really made me realize what a long way I have to go and quite frankly it made me a bit depressed.

But I'm not giving up! I went to the gym and worked extra hard today. I had sampled the stair master yesterday and did it for 30 minutes today and also did the eliptical for 30 minutes burning a little over 500 calories.

Better job on the eating today. Don't give up or feel down. you will get back into those small clothes again. It just takes some time and hard work. But if you really want it, you will do it. Hell, I lost 40lbs, and if I can do it, anyone can..lol:rotflmao:

Today was not bad at all! Here is what I ate today:
-Special K cereal with berries and low fat milk
-Apple slices and grapes
-Barilla plus pasta with ume shiso sauce and some seaweed
-Black cherry yogurt
-Protein drink
-Carrot slices

Burned 438 calories at the gym and as usual drank green tea all day. (I really need to purchase a hot pot!!)

With some more work hopefully I'll be in the 130's by the end of the week...maybe?? As an observation on the side, isn't it awful how you always lose weight in the breast area first? I wouldn't even care because I don't mind having smaller breasts but it feels like my body shape is off. It will probably go back to the normal proportions soon and I'm probably the only one who would notice but it feels weird. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hey there Tropical :)! Do you know how nice that fresh pineapple sounds? Are you a vegetarian?

We have a lot in common as I had a baby 14 months ago and I've been through the exact same thing. I was up about 10 pounds when I got pregnant and now I still need to get that last 12 off, after struggling through the year to get the pregnancy weight off. I was so cavalier about thinking I would be able to take the weight right off but really it was not budging! It was also weird for me being a different size like that and not feeling like myself. I had given H's younger sister (she's only 13) a few things that fit her and I could not fathom that I used to wear that stuff. Whateva !

Good luck on your new program :).

It does look like you might be a vegetarian. I noticed that aside from the protein shake, your protein intake looks quite small. Protein is very important for weight loss as it helps you maintain muscle and maybe even gain some--and muscle burns more calories so you want to keep those. Also, processing protein requires more energy from your body, so it burns more calories than processing carbs or fat. I would look into some tofu and some other foods high in protein. At you weight, you should be getting at least 70grams of protein per day.

And now boobs...don't even get me started on that subject. Have you read my diary? lol Well, I have noticed a slight decrease in size, and I think most women do find that happens. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hope you had a great day!

Hey Blancita and Bikinibound! I am not vegetarian exactly but we don't eat very much meat. I'll try to add some more protein to the diet today!:)

On a happy note I made it to 139 pounds!! :jump:

Today I was pretty good. We recieved a care package in the mail with sweets and I have not touched them at all! This is what I had today:
-Special K w/berries cereal with lowfat milk and a banana
-Okoge soup (a Japanese soup, one of the things we recieved today but low calorie)
-Tofu
-Apple slices and grapes
-Tuna with a few crackers
-Rice with salmon furikake(like a topping fr rice)

At the gym today I did a Yoga class and then did a little over 400 calories on the cross ramp machine.

Much better job on the protein. I would be hungry as hell if that's all I ate though! lol You should see my food yesterday and today. I think it's about double yours..but I've been a bit naughty.:jump:

And last but certainly not least: Congrats on losing 10lbs!! WooHoo! Nice job!

Thanks Bikinibound! It's ok to be naughty once in a while, I split a cocktail with my husband this weekend at Disney and ate some curry rice!:) However when we go for my son's birthday next month I'm going to have to look up the gym hours at the hotel because walking the park was not enough exercise I think.

Today I was back on track though!
-Special K w/berries with low fat milk
-Rasberry yogurt
-Peas
-shrimp crackers with cheese (low calorie though!)
-South beach diet meal, beef w/broccoli (because it had protein)
-wakame (seaweed) soup
-Rice w/ wasabi furikake

Green tea all day as always and cold water too.

At the gym today I did a kick boxing cardio class for an hour and then did 290 calories on the CrossRamp.

Nice job today! I don't know--I've been to Disney a few times and I'd say spending the whole day walking your ass off is adequate exercise. Thanks for popping into my diary. :)

New scale...

So my husband bought me a new scale since I lost ten pounds and since our old scale was really crappy. It's a good scale and I love it...but it puts me at a higher weight:cry:

So I'm no longer in the 130's, which made me a little sad. It just meant I was a little heavier then what the other scale said which will only mean I will have lost more weight in total when all is said and done. But it still sucks!

I'm really close to being back at 139 on the new scale though because I have been working my butt off! I guess I better go adjust my ticker, lol.

Haha! I know how you feel. I have a pretty good scale, and then for some strange reason I went out and bought another one. That one always says i'm about 1.8lbs heavier than the old one. So needless to say, I stick with the old one..lmao. My gym's scale, which is like you'd find in a doc's office, varies--sometimes agreeing with the old, and sometimes the new. So I use the one that makes me happy--the old..lol:) Don't worry--you'll drop those pounds and be back in the 130s before you know it.

Hi there. I like the food you eat. I'm in to the same kind of stuff, lots of east indian vegetarian and protein shakes and lots of tofu. Anyway, just keep doing it and the weight will come off. I found the first two months I was filled with such angst not knowing if what I was doing would work. Just tell yourself you're gonna keep eating this way. ANd drink two litres of water a day. It gives you something to put in your mouth (!) after breakfast and lunch, and is good for you. Keep posting!

Thanks Happychubette! I won't give up! :)

I love my husband!

So today I definately ate enough calories and got enough protein.
-Pineapple (yup the one from the garden) and a protein bar
-Tuna and crackers
-South Beach orange beef meal (It was terrible!)
-Grapefruit yogurt
-Protein drink
-Pork and green beans

I only drank like 5 cups of green tea today but will probably drink at least more before going to bed and had lots of water and a chilled oolong tea.

Today I was kind of down, probably because of that gross orange beef, and went to the gym as usual though. I tried this aerobics class which was great until they got to the stepping part and I was completely lost but still tried my best, even though I looked so stupid not knowing what to do.

So after the class I met up with DH and was going to go do some cardio as usual when he asked me if I wanted to go to Sports Authority before it closed. Actually, I was feeling kind of lame because I didn't have any nice workout clothes and looked really dingy and lame so I was so happy.

We went to the store and bought two outfits which was so nice of him because we had also bought the new scale which was not so cheap. He is really proud at how hard I've been working and that I'm really serious about this. He's never complained about my weight and has always been so supportive so I'm just so greatful.

I took some pictures wearing the outfits to push myself so I can actually one day look good in them, lol.

I am being honest here - But you look pretty good as you are! You definatly DONT look around 140lbs. I would say in the 130's!

You dont think 100lbs would be too low?

Your doing great anyway! All your food sounds really yummy!

I hate aerobics for this very reason!!:) I am just so uncoordinated, it's not funny.

That is great. Some men are total jackasses when it comes to that subject (mine is more like yours, though--God bless him!)

You already look very cute, and I think you are going to look fantastic once you hit the 120s!
