Keep Trying!

So I started keeping track of what I'm eating to boost my calories up and here is what I ended up with today.

-Stonyfield Yogurt Smoothy Strawberry 230 calories
-Shrimp cracker snack 53 calories
-Okoge soup 73 calories
-Japanese rice + furikake ~300 and 11 calories
-Sandwich (wholegrain bread, ~360 calories
genoa salami slice, monterey
jack cheese slice)
-A scrambled egg with sauteed ~300
mushrooms, carrot, onion)

Today I was all set to walk out to go to the gym and went to get my gym clothes out of the dryer only to find them in the washing machine! Definately not cool! I've been doing so well at the gym this week but it doesn't mean I can't do exercise at home so I'll get started on that now. 139 here I come! Maybe even 138??

Edit: I forgot to add I told dh I wouldn't use my birthday present until I make it to 135! I hope I can keep the promise!

Hi there! I know how you feel about not being able to weigh in. That's what keeps me accountable. But since I planned to eat whatever this week, the HC bonus was well timed bc i don't want to know what i weigh!! haha.

Here's hoping you weigh in at 139 or below! :beerchug::beerchug:

Your Japanese food looks yummy, once again. I know how you feel about the f-n-law coming. I haven't seen my in-laws since i put on this weight, and I would be embarrassed to have them see me this way, too. Gives you extra motivation, eh? :)

Extra motivation is always good! The in-laws are super sweet but even when I wasn't overweight I would be so nervous about going to visit them in Japan because I have a complex about being the fat foreigner. The first time I went to see them I was so freaked out I made myself sick and couldn't keep down food for two days before my plane trip it was terrible!:(

I hope you've gotten over that. It's not as though there aren't any fat Japanese. If your in-laws or anyone else judges you solely based on your weight, then their opinions don't matter much. Screw them. Whos cares what they think. Unless you were morbidly obese, I don't think most people would even notice, anyway. Hell, I was 180-190lbs the entire time I was in Korea, and no one thought I was the plague. In fact, just the opposite. That is an unhealthy complex you need to get over.

I know it is so stupid what makes it stupider is that his parents have never told me anything other than I'm a beautiful girl. Before the pregnancy I was thinner than his sister. I guess because you already feel so out of place with how you look at least weight is one of the things under my control. When I think about it rationally no one probably cares what my weight is except me.

You said it, girl. I don't think you have anything to worry about. His family seems really nice, and I know plenty of foreigners who lived in Japan who never got any crap about being bigger. I think most Asians just expect Westerners to be bigger. And you are so tiny, that I just don't know why you'd feel so self-conscious. You certainly fit in there much better than I did..lol. Hey, I am 5'9" and weighed as much or more than most of the men there. I stood out like a bull in a china shop..lol. But Koreans were always telling me (unsolicited) how beautiful I was. And the Korean women, and some of the men wished they had my height (although probably not my weight..lol).

Thanks BB you are really sweet. I can see why many would love your height 5'9" is like a models height! :)

Woohoo! Finally made it to the 130's with an even 139!! I just want to say thank you because so many people have been supportive and put up with my endless bitching.:beerchug:

Congrats!! Well, I can hardly fault anyone for bitching, bc my diary is FULL of it..lol If I got paid a $ for everytime I've bitched in my life, I'd be richer than Bill Gates!! :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

I ate so much today but it's good because I really have been needing to up the calories.
-Yogurt smoothie and a 1 cup of milk
-Zousui (home made this time)
-Rasberry mocha (I felt a bit naughty about this one..)
-White curry from Hokkaido (a friend brought it as a souvenir and it was sooo delicious!!! I used mushroom, potatoe, carrot, and onion)

So I decided to try something a little different and thought it would be nice to add recipes for some of the food we make because recipes for Japanese food are not always easy to find in English. So todays recipe is for Zousui and it's 2-3 servings. (You can adjust it to your taste)

Zousui

4 cups water
1 pack dashi for seasoning
1/2 a teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon sake
2 teaspoon mirin
1 tablespoon Soy sauce
2 eggs (mix them together)
Chopped mushrooms (As much as you like)
Japanese Rice: For the rice I use 6 oz uncooked rice with 1 cup water in the rice cooker.

So you boil the 4 cups of water with dashi seasoning to taste
Then add salt, sake, mirin, soy sauce, and mushrooms and cook for 15 minutes med. to high heat.
Then you add the rice you cooked and the two eggs mixed together and cook for 7 minutes. The soup will become a little thicker and then you'll know it's done.

It's super easy to cook and you can really add whatever you like to the mix like salmon, etc. The ingrediants you can probably find at a local Asian market and in many big grocery stores as well. Once you have soy sauce, mirin and sake you have the base for most Japanese dishes so if you like J cooking you'll get a lot of use out of them and you can make lots of dishes very cheaply and quickly.

That looks interesting. What is dashi and mirin? I'm wondering if my Korean supermarket will carry them.

Dashi is like a soup stock, usually we use the onethat comes in little packets but it comes in powder and liquid form as well. Mirin is sweet and is similar to sake but has a lower alcohol content. You can probably find them in your Korean market because we have found it in Chinese owned markets in the past as well as the J-mart.

I will look for them the next time I go there.;)

Hope your week is going well!:beerchug:

I'm still at 139 and have only myself to blame for not going to the gym! I'm going tonight though no matter what. My Vaio came in today and I'm not at the 135 pound goal but decided to use it anyways! It is so adorable!!!:beating:

What is a Vaio? How'd your workout go?!

Hey Blancita the workout went well! I bought a pair of size 8 dnky jeans on sale at the beginning of the month and they are pretty loose today. I think I'm going to have to find another sale soon and someone will get a nice set of jeans through donation. :) Vaio is the line of laptops that Sony sells, this is the website

I'm psyched this week because I didn't work out so much but am at 138.8 and haven't gone up so I think it'll still be 138 for tommorow but expect to drop another pound in the next few days, maybe two? I feel so much better and wonder if the body has memory of it's usual size. I feel like at this point it wants to go back to a normal size and it doesn't feel like such a struggle. A good birthday week! Didn't even have cake on my birthday, lol. There are no decent bakeries here so I felt like it wasn't worth it.

Tommorow is EPCOT's 25 anniversary, the food festival is going on and we are meeting a friend who is visiting from Miami to have tea at the Grand Floridian so we'll have some yummy food to look forward to! I'll have something sweet there since I didn't do the birthday cake.:p

Yup, you definitely deserve something nice 'n sweet at Epcot to make up for the birthday sans cake! You're lucky your body isn't fighting you to go down like mine is. Mine is absolutely determined to stay at this weight! Be well :).

Nice job not eating cake on your birthday! And Happy Birthday!! Here's wishing you a great week full of dropping the pounds...:beerchug:
