Keep Trying!

I weighed 138 even yesterday but went back to 138.8 today!! Why is it always .8?!Probably because of the English trifle yesterday, lol, and that's that I only ate like 35% of it...that and the nectar imperial rose champagne...and the food festival food but those were small and split with dh so it shouldn't have caused so much damage...

Yesterday was so great we met up with old friends and some really wonderful new friends and the 25th for EPCOT was nice with the rededication and the retro maps and merchandise. It was really neat that they had Marty Sklar one of the imagineers that actually worked with Walt come and talk to the guests and cast members. Then the fireworks at night were spectacular with the special finale, we were waiting in the rain and it stopped raining just in time for the fireworks! So much fun and if I went up .8 pounds no biggie, just have to work it off at the gym today.:)

I didn't get to go to the gym yesterday because we had company over but woke up at 138.4 today so it was still ok! I feel like if I go tonight I could definately wake up to a new post pregnancy low of 137 so we'll see...

My goal today besides going to gym is to start getting the house ready for when my FIL comes to visit. It's already looking good except for the guest room which we've been using as a storage room! I was also hoping to have our son walking by himself (almost there!!) and hopefully speaking at least a few words. The thing is that while he tries to talk it's in his own little baby language and the doctor was telling us the bilingual babies sometimes talk later. Then there is Halloween coming up! Is 125 lbs possible by that time??

Yesterday was the best workout I've had at the gym in a long time. I did 33 minutes eliptical, 32 minutes stairmaster and a few of the weight machines. I weighed myself this morning and was at 137.2!!:jump: It's so close to 136!! I wonder if I can make it by this weekend.

Congrats on 137.2!! You're getting there.

I have several friends w/bi-lingual babies, and they do take a little longer to start speaking--just b/c they've got two languages going on at once. But it is so cool (when they do start speaking) to listen to them be completely bi-lingual. Your son will have a definite edge in the job market later on with that language ability. I wish I was naturally bi-lingual.:)

Thanks for stopping by my diary and congrats on the weight loss so far!

I'm bilingual and I started talking late. My first word was in Japanese, second in English... I bet you'll have a lot of fun hearing your son put 2 languages together! :)

Have a good night!

Thanks for dropping in BB and Sushi! The few words ds says so far are words you can use in both languages like mama, papa, banana. What we do is that I use English with him and his father speaks to him in Japanese.

Sushi did you live in the US as well as Japan growing up? I didn't know if ds would want to keep speaking English once we move to Tokyo and he starts speaking Japanese with his classmates but your English is perfect. What did your parents do while you were growing up?

Hi! I lived in the US for only a few years as a child. I was born and spent most of my time in Tokyo. When you move to Tokyo, I think you'll find that English is used quite frequently... Many schools require English language classes.
My mom speaks to me only in Japanese and my dad uses English. Plus, I had both American and Japanese friends while there... I think that helped a lot.
As an adult, I do wish I learned more Keigo(Honorific Japanese) while growing up. That seems to be a factor in getting a better job.

Good luck! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Well, unless your Japanese is good, he'll have to keep speaking English with you. :) It's very important that you keep up the English with him when you're in Japan--otherwise he won't be as good at English.

I once knew a German couple who lived in Mexico. They spoke only German to their kids, but the Mexican nanny spoke only Spanish to the kids, so they spoke Spanish and German fluently. Then they moved to the States and the American nanny only spoke English to them--so they are fluent in German, Spanish and English..lol. Very cool.

Thankyou Ryan, I found a group for foreign wives living abroad and quite a few of them are living around Chiba so we are looking into the Shinurayasu area as well. My parents were from Cuba and never taught me Spanish so I had to learn it on my own to comunicate with my grandmother and my Spanish grammar is terrible and thats why I'm a bit worried about his English but I guess maybe it won't be a problem after all.

Ha ha, my Japanese is not good at all so I need to get myself to work and start studying again. Since we are doing one parent one language he will definately always hear the English from me. One thing I catch myself doing is with Spanish is that I understand it completely but sometimes when I'm asked a question in Spanish I will reply in English without thinking because my grammar is no good. Plus I've heard I have a weird accent in Spanish, not an American one though... just a strange one, lol. That is really cool about the child learning the native language of the nanny!

I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner but I was feeling terrible these last few days. I think I was on the verge of catching a cold but it didn't go into a full cold. Last night my son starting walking by himself finally!! So I need to videotape that today! I have to go back to the gym too because FIL is here in just a few more weeks and I can't let him see me fat!! I have new hope because I can almost fit into a couple of my old tops and one of my pants. I really want to be at 135 by the end of the week but really who knows.

I weighed in at 136.4 this morning so 135 is looking very possible for tommorow or saturday. It gets hard though, I'm thinner then when I started but it's still a long way to go before looking normal. Mini goals really help though and the current goal I'm aiming for is getting out of the overweight category which according to the bmi would be around 131.

Ds seems to be hitting a stage where he doesn't want his mama to leave without him so it's become a bit more difficult to drop him off at the baby care center at the gym. Usually though dh will meet up with us after work so he is only there for like 10-15 minutes and the ladies there are really good with him so he calms down quickly.

My mom was a licensed daycare provider all during my childhood, so I saw that happen all the time. In most cases the little ones calm down very quickly after mom or dad leaves--but often the parents feel guilty and tend to linger--prolonging the tears..lol. :)

Ha ha, that was me the other day! I was lingering because I didn't want to leave him and the lady was like don't worry he'll be fine and he would cry because he saw me lingering but once she distracted him and I was out of sight he was fine. Today I went to the gym after dh came home so ds stayed at home with his father today.:)

I completely understand how you feel. When I drop my daughter off at daycare I stand around the corner and listen until my she stops crying. I can't stand to leave her all sad so I just hide. The guilt tears me apart.

It looks like you're doing a great job. 15.6lbs is fantastic.

You are doing a great job too let's keep it up!

I tried really hard but could not make it to 135 this weekend. I guess I should be content at losing an average of a pound a week but 2 pounds would be nice every once in a while, God knows I've been working my butt off at the gym lately!

Plus I've been losing weight in weird places that aren't that noticable like my shoulders, how weird is that?? At least the back fat has gone done substancially but it's not that noticable either compared to the stomach and thighs. I need motivation to get to the gym today... :drooling:

It's frustrating when you're busting your ass and not getting much in the way of results--I know all about that..lol. How are your calories? Could be that your body's adjusted to the lower amount. It might help to spend a week eating at maintainance to jump start things.

I was actually trying to eat more calories and was doing that for a few days but taking care of what I need to do in the day before you know it my calories go lower than I would like again. Today dh wanted burger king and I had the Italian sandwich thing so you'd think oh way to many calories right? The thing is that besides that I had a yogurt in the morning and at night a small portion of homemade beef stew (mostly veggies) and a piece of granola so the calories could have been higher. I might have to just make meals in advance to make sure that no matter what the calories reach around 1500 at least.

But an average of a pound a week isn't bad you know? I'm just an impatient person who needs to be happy that at least the weight is coming off. I still have until the spring of next year so even at a pound a week I should be in ok shape to make the move. I was thinking of training to do the new year marathon at Walt Disney World so that even if I'm not at my perfect weight for the new year I'll feel like I accomplished something good.
