Keep Trying!

Thank you for the compliments Loveat116 and Bikinibound. I think I'm still really big though even though the weight is slowly comming off.

I'm really short, a little under 5'1", so 100 might be ok. If it's too low though I'll probably stop at 105~110. We are moving back to Japan in a year and I do not want to be the fat foreigner, lol.

Bikinibound I think you are right about everything looking better at 120. I think at 118 I should be able to fit into almost all my clothes with some of them being a little tight and then will just need to push a little more tomake my goal. I really want to be able to purchase lots of cute clothes when we go back to Tokyo but everything is size 1 (s), 2 (M), 3 (L) (this is like US small), and one size. (and one size is pretty small!)

I just came back from doing yoga this morning and am excited about the kickboxing class tonight because it was so much much and uses so much energy! I was a little off in my timing this morning and skipped breakfast so that I could feed my son and make it to class on time. Other than that little time snag I'm really excited about today!

Why are you moving to Japan? Is hubby in military or something? I know all about the tiny Asian clothes sizes--having lived in South Korea for 5 years. Luckily, you are short, so you are built more like a Japanese. Being 5'9" and 180lbs when I was in Asia, it was impossible to buy clothes in the stores. I either ordered from U.S. catalogs, or went on shopping sprees when I came back to the States once or twice a year.:) I couldn't even buy women's shoes there! Once I was in a store and I saw a really cute pair of shoes that I wanted. The salesman asked me what my size was. I told him, and he shook his head and said in Korean, "That's a man's size!" I just hung my head, sighed and walked away..lol :rotflmao:

Go kick some butt tonight at your class!:boxing: :boxing:

I can't believe that guy said that to you! Luckily I'm just able to fit into the biggest size, sometimes the second biggest size shoes. What were you doing in Korea? It must have been really difficult being so tall. I'm short with dark hair and of course get looked at because people are curious about foreigners but always felt bad for people who where tall with light hair because they stood out so much more.

The reason we are moving back is because my husband is Japanese and he really misses his home country. Me, I'm happy anywhere, lol. I love living in Tokyo because there is so much to do. There are many foreign wives living around the Tokyo area who support each other as well. I have felt bad for him because while he has friends here who are great but there are not many people who speak his native language which must be difficult for him.

I was teaching English. My hair is light brown, but to them it was blonde..lol, and blue eyes, so there were lots of stares and comments. At first it's cool, kinda feels like a celebrity. But then it gets old really fast, and you just want to blend in and be anonymous.

That is cool. How did you two meet? Do you speak Japanese? I've been to Japna--Fukoka, Osaka and Kyoto--but not Tokyo. It just always seemed so big and crowded to me. But not having actually been there...

We met in Miami when he was on vacation in the US. I speak a little Japanese but it has gone way down hill because I haven't practiced it recently. Fukuoka was the first place I visited in Japan! I really like it because people seem really laid back there. You can take a ferry boat to South Korea from there right? I would love to visit South Korea!

You should definately visit Tokyo when you get the chance. It is crowded but amazing and always changing. It's like living in the future but today ykwim? People from other parts of Japan think Tokyo people are cold but I don't think so, it's just a different way of living. I guess DH isn't the only missing life there, lol. I know I could for sure use a Japanese bath after a hard work out at the gym! Do they have deep baths in South Korea too?

TropicalGirl...you are a teeny tiny little thing as it is, in my opinion. But, everyone has their own goals and opinions of themselves. Good luck with your weight loss efforts. You definitely sound on the right track!

Thanks for the encouragement. I really need it today because I freaked out. I had one of the days where I'm totally repulsed by food and my body and was bawling on the phone when DH called. He convinced me to eat some stuff but I was just disgusted by everything.

So here is what I ate today.
-The last of the South Beach meals it was something like chicked and brocoli (never again they just have too much sodium although some of them did not taste bad)
-Tuna and crackers
-Rice/ochazuke with seaweed
-Protein bar

I even tried to eat something I was looking forward to so much. There was these little pretzle sticks with panacotta flavor in fridge and I ate like two before I gave up. They were great but I just didn't care and didn't want anything. I really need to get over this thing.

Then I went to the gym and did the kick boxing class which was great! It was tough but I think I did pretty good, the instructor today was harder than last time but was great. Then I went to the gym and burned like 320 calories on the crossramp and cycle. I couldn't push as hard because I was exhausted and did not eat enough.

Hopefully tommorow is better I just have to really push myself to eat more.

I so wish I had this eating problem you're having :). I've had these no eating stages in the past several times and it doesn't feel so great though, you totally run out of energy. Maybe lots more fruit could get the appetite going?

Thank you for the advice Blancita, I went out and bought so fruit today. I think I was just really frustrated and disgusted with myself yesterday but today I felt a little better.

This was today's food:
-SpecialK cereal w/berries and low fat milk
-Natto soup
-A sandwich made with rye bread and 2 slices of fontina cheese and maple ham
-Cheese pretz (like fondue flavored rye sticks, it was only 90 calories)
-Pasta with spicy mentai and seaweed topping
-Yogurt (Pink Grapefruit flavor)

Then at the gym today I did a cardio class and burned like 345 calories on the eliptical and stairmaster.

Don't worry if you have a few days where you just don't feel like eating a lot. Just don't make a habit of it. You are doing fine. We all have those crazy days where we feel up and down about life and ourselves.

Yes, Korea does have the public steam baths. Do you get the scrub down? That is some serious exfoliation. I went to a Korean day spa once, and it was quite an experience. I would definitely go back..lol. Do the Japanese women in them that work there do it bras and panties? I think that is just hilarious--getting the crap scrubbed out of you by a middle-aged asian women in bras and panties...lol

That is bizarre about the bra and panties BB. I agree that if you just have a few really low calorie days every once in a while, or even every week, but you also have some maintenance days and moderate days, it can definitely work wonders to get some of the fat off. I personally believe the metabolism only slows down when you consistently eat below maintenance (but I"m no scientist..).

You're up late tonight, Blancita!! Shouldn't you be snoring away by now? lol

Well, I can cut them some slack on the bra/panty thing--it is steamy as hell in that room, so one would sweat like a mutha. It's kind of strange being in a giant bath house with a bunch of naked Korean women..lol I'm sure if there are any men reading this they'd think it would be awesome--not strange. lol

Thank you for posting those pictures. You are just a petite thing and are going to get even better looking with every pound you drop. You're on your way.

Green tea is cool. I drink a mixture of black and green tea cold, flavoured with Celestial Seasonings Herbal Lemon or Berry for a change.

Your Japanese diet seems very healthy and lowfat. How interesting to have a Japanese husband.

Korean bath houses sound kind of cool, almost like a spa? How much does it cost to use the baths? I never went to a local public bath in Tokyo because we had our own bath but I love onsen/hotsprings! I'm like hot springs mania, lol. It's so relaxing and the food is always so good! We have to wash ourselves though lol.

Thank you for the encouragement Happychubette. I need to start cooking more Japanese food but I'm so lazy with translating my cookbooks. When we were living in Tokyo I would go to fancy cake shops every week and gain no weight. Since you walk around and climb lots of stairs and the food is healthy it's easier staying slim. I love fancy cakes!!

Blancita, don't worry I'm bringing up my calories again!:) I'm just so tired today and I have to have the house ready because my parents are visiting then go try this step class.:drooling:

Thank you WendolaPM!

This weekend was so crazy I didn't eat very well at all. My parents came to visit and then my son was sick for the first time, poor little guy. Then I caught what he had and felt super crappy...:eek2:

The good news is I only weighed 142.2 this morning which is not far at all from what I was when the weekend started so the little extra should be gone super quick. I'm going to eat well today and only do an hour at the gym so my body can recover a bit more.

They are pretty cool. The normal ones have communal showers where you wash up. Then you can get into the baths. Usually there's one that's incredibly hot, one that's incredibly cold, and if you're lucky, one that's just right..lol Then you can get the scrub down--it's an exfoliation, and then they rub baby oil all over and give you a bit of a massage with hot towels. Sometimes they wash your hair. At the day spa there was a sauna type thing where I was wrapped in a burlap robe at made to sit in there until they called me out. In addition the scrub down deal, I got a body massage, a foot massage (which wasn't that great) and a seaweed/cucumber facial that also included a breast massage (I did not know this until she started doing it!!). The facial was really nice, even though I was slightly weirded about at having a woman fiddling with my boobs..lol:rotflmao:

Hope you're feeling better TropicalG.

BB, that is weird about the boob massage :rotflmao:. I'm no prude, but it must've been funny given you weren't prepared for it.

I took ds the the pediatrician yesterday because his fever shot up but he is doing much better today. I've got to get back to I'm not taking him with me until he is completely recovered. Hopefully tonight if ds keeps feeling better when dh gets home I can leave the baby with him and go to the gym for a while.
