Steve, I just wanted to quote something you posted in RJ's diary yesterday. I thought I would post it here so I don't fill up someone else's diary with my questions. I hope that's OK. The part that's especially relevant, I've put in bold.
I've also heard you say 1 - 1.5gm of protein per pound of lean mass, and I wonder how this would apply to me. I am currently at 156lb, and I guess 30lb or so of that is fat, since that's what I'm trying to lose. How many grams of protein should I have while in a deficit?
Since I've been monitoring my diet, I've noticed that I'm only getting around 50 - 60gm of protein a day, which looks very low. I'm guessing this is partly because I'm vegetarian and I've cut one of the main souces of protein out of my diet, but also because, as a vegetarian who is thinking about the nutrients in my diet, it's very hard to find foods containing high levels of protein that don't also contain high levels of fat (usually saturated). Should I be looking at ways to supplement the protein in my diet?
Sorry to bring the whole nutrition thing back up again, but I can't find the answers to this elsewhere, and I don't want to be missing something critical from my diet.
