Jennylee's diary

The weight change will come...you are eating healthy. I made your soup recipe...yum yum..my kids loved it too.

Thanks guys!
I'm having one of those days that I just want to let loose and snack. My yoghurt should be fine for another day or 2 I had a smoothie with rasberries blackberries and blueberries. I'm not really hungry but i want food. I'll try to be good.

I was bad today. Before work I had 2 slices of bread with ham and cheese, they were unplanned snacks.
Dinner:
beef curry (made with lowfat yoghurt) with carrots and rice. Didn't eat all of it as it was too hot.
Ate a punnet of marinated mussels infront of the telly, worked out to about 100cals. Didn't need them, ate them anyway. I feel bad about the sandwich before work because I really felt like I sat on my ass today and didn't burn as much calories as I should have.
Tommorrow I'll try harder. Mr. Jennylee is going back to work tommorrow and will be staying out of town for a night or two. As much as I'd like for him to come home instead, it will give me an opportunity to really get back on track.
I've set the standard already and know that I can do it, so no excuses.

MY hubby goes back to work tomorrow so I no I will get more house work done, I get so lazy when he’s home, I think its because I like spending time with him so I just don’t worry about it to much till he’s back at work.

Me having Mr.Jennylee around kind of reminds me of having a yapping dog constantly under my feet. He thinks i'm lazy all the time but I just don't bother when he's home, he's either in the way or in such a foul mood like a sulky teenager that I think "why bother?"

I'm off to a better start today, still struggling with my hunger though.
Breakfast:
bowl of oats with low fat milk.

12noon
1 slice of wholegrain toast with marmite (no butter or marg)

I have a serving of soup defrosting on the bench for a 2pmish snack. Now I'm going to go crazy, put on some loud obnoxious music and get this house spick-and-span and shining clean!

2.10pm
Whew!! I've just finished my first lot of exercise in god knows how long. It wasn't much but to me it was quite an accomplishment. 20minutes of doubletime housework and 20 minutes on the exercycle while listening to pink floyd.
Day-to-day I get a healthy amount of exercise anyway with work and walking to and from work, but I need to do extra if i'm going to loose weight.

I'm in the process of heating up my homemade low cal "vitamin injection" soup for lunch, then its in the shower and getting ready for work.

ate 1/2 of my soup
3 seasame crackers and 1/3 punnet of marinated mussels
not too bad. Off to work now

I'm glad to see you back up and at it Jennylee!! Good for you!! Your strong and you will succeed!

Thanks you newbride, your encouragement is a big help.
Dinner:
1 small grill chicken breast (cooked in the trusty george foreman grill)
3/4 cup of peas

plus I had 2 bits of garlic toast and a bowl of beef broth with noodles that mr.jennylee made.
So I didn't do that great. The garlic toast was a no-no as it had sunflower spread on it and 2 pieces of the bread amounts to an extra 160cals that I didn't need.
I still need to be tougher on myself. I'm going to write a list of my PLANNED food tommorrow and then I can compare what I planned to eat and what I actually ate and see if I can stick to it easier.

Here it goes Jennylee's menu plan for thursday

Breakfast:
bowl of oats with lowfat milk

Lunch:
1/2 tin of drained kidney beans with
lettuce and
beetroot slices

Snack: Kiwifruit

Dinner: 1 piece of baked skinless chicken with
peas, carrots and baby cabbage
Will make up a portion of lowfat packaged chicken gravy to keep Mr.jennylee happy, and to make the meal less boring.

Exercise for tomorrow: Morning stretches followed by Exercise bike 20 minutes. Will attempt another 20 minutes in early afternoon before work. It doesn't sound like much but 20 minutes on that thing is hard! I absolutely kills my legs. Maybe that will change as I get use to using those muscles.
So theres the plan! Tell me off if I stray from it please.
Goodnight!!

So far so good scrappy. Got up did the exercise because I didn't want to sit here and say that I didn't, and I feel great for it. Its 9 am and I've just had my breakfast, oats with low fat milk. After the exercise I wasn't really hungry but, as they say , breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I went out in to the garden and got a lettuce for lunch and a cabbage for dinner. The first food from our first vege garden. Its quite exiting really, everythings so fresh! Well I must go, my little rattys are giving me impatient "I want to play" looks from their cages.

Not doing too badly, I just had lunch.
Kidney beans with lettuce and beetroot, no dressing
I haven't snacked at all, but I very much want to. I've allowed myself a kiwifruit before work, not sure if I can stick to it, but I will try. I don't want to eat too little and am a little worried about being undernourished at work, but surely it will be enough. Well, i've still got beet slices left and I guess if by 3.30 (work time) I really need sometime extra I can have some of those.
I've been very good about drinking lots of water so far today and am happy about that. Now I'm going to go an force myself on to the exercycle again...

Hello Jennylee,

Happy New Year

thanks for stopping by my diary:)

I took quite a long break, but I will try and catch up with everybody over the next few days.

Hope you had a great time and everything is going well. I'll try to read all the new posts tomorrow and respond.:) Gotta run!

Sounds like you're doing good Jennylee! Kiwi's are a great source of Vitamin C and they're tasty AND they're very pretty. Keep up the good work!

I don't want to eat a kiwi!! they're too cute!!..... Just kidding, I'm from New zealand, we call the fruit kiwifruit because a kiwi is our most endangered native flightless bird, and they're soooooo cute and fluffy.
I had the kiwifruit but I think I need something else too keep me up and running at work. I just had a workout and am feeling a little sleepy...
I'll have a little bit of beetroot slices, I really need to read the label to check if they really are such a good diet food when they're in a can like that.
bye for now.

Haha, oh boy, I had no idea that there was a bird called the kiwi. That's pretty cute though. And I learned something!

Yeah, thats how the kiwifruit got its name becaue they're brown and furry like the bird. You'd love them, they don't even look like birds their wings are so short you can hardly see them, they're about the size of a chicken with big feet and stocky legs, their feathers look like fur and their beaks are incredibly long with nostrils at the end to sniff out grubs on the forrest floor. They're completely nocturnal, but sadly they're dying off because of hunting dogs not being properly muzzled and wild cats. We have a few enclosures here where they are being bred to try and raise the population, but many die. Infact when a kiwi is born its often front page news over here. I just think they're great little animals. SAVE THE KIWI!! I found a good website called "The Americans guide to kiwis" if you want to have a look at one The author is rather rude and sarcastic, but I still like it, its a bit of a laugh Quote: "If you tell a New Zealander that you ate a *kiwi*... you will probably shock & offend them (what would your reaction be if I told you that I ate a bald eagle?). "

Anywho!!! back to the point of this diary
Well, I came home and grilled some chicken, ended up eating 2 peices........ but they were smallish.. instead of boring old boiled veges I made colslaw with the tiniest bit of low cal low fat mayo. Then I have a seasame cracker with marmite on it and a slither of lowfat cheese. I've got a major sweet tooth at the moment, and all I want is a gooey chocolatey something or other. But I have nothing of the sort in the house luckily.

Whoops I nearly forgot, I'm going to write down my plan of action for tomorrow too. I just worked out my calories for today and It was only just over 1000cals, so I'm in a save zone even with my mess ups. But I don't want to end up with a sluggish metabolism so I'm going to put some better planning in to tomorrows menu, keeping eating more frequent so that I dont get to that "gee i'm hungry, i hope I don't pass out" stage.

Ok, wake up!
Get out of bed, exercycle for 20 minutes
Breakfast:
Oats with a little lowfat milk

Snack:
Kiwifruit

Lunch:
Lettuce, kidney beans and beetroot

Snack:
Smoothie with blueberries and lowfat plain yoghurt

Dinner:
John Dory fillet with colslaw and lots of peas.

That still only takes me to about 750 cals, not enough. I'll add some nuts into the colslaw and do some curried eggs for extra protein and iron, plus Mr.jennylee loves them too. 2 eggs amount to about 160cals plus the nuts should take me too 1000cals. Pile on extra veges and voila!!
Saturday night I'm going to have some red meat, maybe make up a stew of some sort. Any reasonably healthy stew ideas?
I'm either going to go into town in the morning to pay some bills as exercise or an extra 20 minutes on the exercycle. Hell, i may even do both! Lets see how I feel. Exercising today, made me feel really good, I need to remember that.

Stayed up late reading my new book and slept in until 9.30. Did my 20 minutes on the exercycle and had my breakfast:
oats and lowfat milk.
Its 10.25 now, I'm going to have a smoke do a quick tidy up, chuck some washing in the machine, have a shower and go to town.

I've been good so far today. I went to town and pottered around a bit, really wanted to buy chocolate but didn't. Bought some pretty candles for my coffee table and a movie. Came home had my kiwifruit and lettuce/bean/beetroot salad. I'm going to do a zoom around with the vaccuum and make my house pretty. I got a magazine as well so I can read that and hopefully stop myself snacking after dinner tonight.
