Jay Can Do It! - Weight Loss Diary

(Day 45) Thursday, November 10, 2011

I haven't posted in three days. What?!

Easy reason for this: I was lazy. Really lazy. I weighed myself earlier this monday and I was 209 lbs. I was upset! I tried to exercise but then I pulled a back muscle in the process, so I didn't get to exercise. Then the next day I went out to drive and I hit the curb three times, and I almost got hit by another car. When I came home I was so shaken I kept eating and eating. I didn't even bother exercising that day.

Wednesday I had to really sit myself down and get myself going. I exercised and burned 1000 calories - the first real workout in about 2 weeks or so.

So I'm back guys. I'm about to go exercise again! I'm back to where I started, plus one pound less. =)

Heya Jay
smile.gif

Don't feel bad about shitty days like that. They happen and will again at the most inconvenient times in the future. Just the way the universe is sometimes, ya know? I didn't feel much like posting today because the weather and worked just sucked. Brought down my whole day and I felt like I just force fed myself an order of anger with a side of depression.

Thought it's pretty nice how throwing out support and help on this forum seems to help lift that feeling of malaise - probably why I'm on here so often.
smile.gif

I'd tell you that you'll bounce back from those few days, but it seems like you already have (and then some)!

You're a machine, man! Keep on keeping on!
smile.gif

ATell me about it...I feel like a slug.

Jay, you're amazing ^^ I know I've been lazy too, barely updating, not really posting. I do try to read journals when I can. You also really do have a nice journal layout...I might have to...steal the idea of beautifying one's journal... >.>

But! Good job on the exercise. 1000 calories? That's amazing. The most I can do is 500. I'm so jealous. Give me some of that energy! xD

Keep going, get past the bad days, and take a look at how far you've come. Even losing one pound is an accomplishment, and hey, you're a handsome young man already!

Damn! Nice job on the loss, Jay! :D

Excellent job bud! :)

Hey everyone.

I haven't been posting because I've been really busy with college and trying to get acquainted with everything before winter quarter starts. I discovered I only received 700 dollars in Financial Aid, which is fine I suppose. It's better than nothing.

I'm also on the Supreme 90 Day fitness program, which is quite similar to P90X. The good thing is that my body is toning muscle wise - from my legs to my shoulders. The bad thing is I only do cardio twice a week, so I'm not seeing much weight loss results at all. That, coupled with the fact I had to take 3 rest days because I pulled two muscles within a one week span, is probably the reason why I haven't lost weight at all for the past 2 weeks. I also haven't gained weight thankfully, but I miss seeing the scale drop a few times more.

I'm really tempted to get off the program and just continue with my usual cardio workouts to lose weight.

What do you all think? Should I start building muscle now or keep losing weight until I get to 140 lbs? I want to healthier, but I don't want to be scrawny - I want at least some muscle definition (and my dream: abs!)

Oh, and I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I didn't get to 199 lbs before Thanksgiving like I wanted to, but everyone told me that I lost a lot of weight, so I was happy nevertheless. I ate like a freakin' COW though, and I am NOT looking forward to exercising tomorrow with all this processed stuff in my belly.

I'm also on Twitter mostly since it's a fast way to update. Anyone here use Twitter? Perhaps we can follow each other or something :p.

Have a nice day all! I don't know when I'll get back to keeping track of calories, but hopefully it's soon because I'm starting to question my developing dieting habits...

AHow does the "Supreme 90 Day fitness program" work? I've always wanted to look into something like that, but, I can't really afford exercise stuff, really.

Honestly, I want to be toned too, but I decided that it's best to get rid of all this fat and get more energy than start toning now. I mean, you can tone whenever, can't you? If you're having a rough time, go back to what was working for you, I say.

Man, oh man, even I know what it's been like these last few weeks. I'm so surprised I lost weight at all this month. But you can do it! You've come so far already!

Hey Jay! Good to see an update!

Well, I've always clung to my cardio as my primary method of losing weight. That program is very intense from the sound of it! Maybe just keep focusing on your cardio and introduce some lighter variations of the strength training featured in the video. I do light stuff Mon/Wed/Fri just to try and prep myself for when I do start a more rigorous program.

I've already talked to some friends of mine (who are really into the gym scene) about starting a gym membership with them. My roommate even expressed interest! I also don't want to be too scrawny as I'm nearing that point! Thank god the post office provides me with some heavy packages and whatnot, so I do get some minor weight lifting from that I suppose! :p There's been a few parcels that have weighed close to or above 50lb!

Anyway, bottom line is you should always do what you feel comfortable with. Sure, push yourself, but learn your limits too so you don't get hurt
smile.gif

Don't worry, Jay - you'll be back to melting those pounds off very soon! Like I posted in another diary just earlier, this journey is full of obstacles, and the knowledge gained from tough circumstances like this will help you avoid them in the future as well as make you grow stronger.

Hey Jay!

Good job on starting a 90 day program, that's a big commitment! My personal opinion is that it's best to do cardio and strength training together because even though cardio activities burn more calories while you're performing them, strength training burns more calories over time because muscle burns calories, but fat does not. Muscles aren't just a vanity thing, they're fat burners!! So the more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism and the more efficient you are at burning calories on the whole. Also, when you do purely cardio, your body adapts and has to do less work in order to achieve the same result, so this tends to result in a loss of muscle mass... so when all you do is cardio, in a way, you're kind of working against yourself. If you feel like you are not getting enough cardio, you could always add some more in. I am doing P90X but have added in 40 minutes of intense cardio to my strength days and find that works perfectly for me.

$700 for financial aid is BS, I feel your pain, I think I'd be out protesting somewhere!! Good luck getting going with school!

November 30, 2011

I'm going to start counting calories again. No pretty layouts this time though because I'm extremely lazy to go on the laptop X_X.

- Salad: 210 Calories

- Pan De Sal: 80 Calories

- Sandwich: 230 Calories

- Cheese and Ham Sandwich: 310 Calories

- Oatmeal Raisin Cookie: 210 Calories

It's REALLY cheap - under $20 at most stores. It's very much like P90X, except much cheaper and not as commercialized.

I really like this workout because it trains all the muscles in the body. It also builds lean muscles, which means more natural fat burn. I think I've been eating 2000 some calories every day last week because I'm always hungry, and GENUINELY hungry mind you, but I'm not gaining any weight. I can also feel my body tightening, so it's awesome!

I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the encouraging! I've always wanted to go to the Gym but I'm a very private person. I'd rather workout at home than go out, honestly. =/

That's so true! I find myself burning more calories nowadays because I'm building more muscles. I'm eating much more than I was before actually, and I'm still seeing progress. Good luck with your P90X by the way! Here's a virtual toast to our success =).

Oh, yeah. I found out that the reason I only received $700 in Financial Aid is because I registered on FAFSA in August, so the majority of the funds were already gone. Oh well - I'll be early next time.

AKeep at it, Jay. I was in the same place, if you recall. Now I'm back on tack! It's so weird how it becomes so hard then everything clicks into place once more. Just remember that you have the rest of your life. Just keep trying! ^^

Yes, the rest of my life...until college xD.

I REALLY, REALLY want to lose all this weight because I don't want people seeing me as that fat kid in college like when I was in High School.

By the way, I did not realize how much Asians there are in college. Holy crap.
