Heidi's diary

Thanks T2- Walmart was freaking nuts yesterday. I did go to Kroger this morning before the church goers got out of church. Seems they always go to the store afterwords. Anyway, We always go to my mother in laws house for Turkey day. But I decided this year that I would also cook a Turkey breast, oyster dressing, and a pumpkin pie for home. The only thing that sucks about going somewhere else for the big day is, no left overs at home. Happy Holidays!

I just hope I keep my motivation. This forum helps a bunches. Isnt it wierd.

That's the thing with being an English boy on a predominantly US site - I haven't got a clue what you're on about half the time! :D

Walmart I get - but we don't have anything on the same scale
Kroger must be some sort of store?
I've no idea what you guys are in the woods hunting for! lol
Turkey Day? Is that thanksgiving?
I've never, ever had pumpkin pie. Am I missing out?
But, Mother in Laws are always the same :D :D

Congrats on the two pounds Heidi. Keep up the good work :)

HEHE Stan!

Krogers is a Grocery Store.

Walmart is an everything store, food, clothes, automotive, anything under the sun

Hunting - It is deer season. In the woods hunting bucks and doe's.

Turkey day - Thanksgiving!

OMG Pumpkin PIE.. SO GOOOOOOD! With whipped cream.... hmmmmm.. Here is a recipe (Though I just buy the Marie Callanders brand at the grocery)

Ingredients - Pie Crust

1 1/3 cups Gold Medal® all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons cold water

Ingredients - Filling

2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1 can (15 oz) pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk

1. Heat oven to 425°F. In medium bowl, mix flour, 1/2 teaspoon salt and the oil with fork until all flour is moistened. Sprinkle with cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time, tossing with fork until all water is absorbed. Shape pastry into a ball. Press in bottom and up side of 9-inch glass pie plate.

2. In large bowl, beat eggs slightly with wire whisk or hand beater. Beat in 1/2 cup sugar, the cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon salt, ginger, cloves, pumpkin and milk.

3. Place pastry-lined pie plate on oven rack before adding filling. Carefully pour pumpkin filling into pie plate. Bake 15 minutes.

4. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F. Bake about 45 minutes longer or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
