From alpha testing to the QUERCUS 200

Of course I remember it Oaks. It was a very short time ago. Yesterday's slow mile was killer, but only because of how much I did before. Thanks Oaks! The contests came with perfect timing for me just as I was getting everything back on track.

I gave you a reprieve today LaMa. ;) I weighed in at 252.0 this morning. I also royally screwed up the basic math in my first post 115.5 - 109.5 Kg are the contest weights. For some reason I'd put in the numbers for - 16 Kg, which I need, but isn't the contest. I've got the ticker made and will be getting that little birdie to his tree.

So yesterday: Up with the sun for a few hours of kayaking at a nearby lake before it got too hot. We saw nutria, beaver, great blue herons, greater and lesser egrets, comorants, wood ducks, cliff swallows, a kingfisher, black vultures, pigeons, water lillies in bloom, black bass, and shad.

Then we were cleaned up and off to town to take E nephew out on for shopping and miniature golfing for his birthday. This was way more involved than we had anticipated so we found ourselves at the gym at 8:30 completly wiped out. It was the toughest mile in recent memory, but overall a very nice day and not sleeping in made the weekend seem longer.

252.0 this morning and my upper body and back are a bit sore and tight.

That sounds like an amazing kayaking trip, I´m so jealous! You have the Y-chromosome bonus Q, so I expect nothing less than a thorough beating in this challenge :D

It's well named that chromosome! Go Q. You are seriously going to kick some ass. I'm glad the challenge came at a good time for you xoCate

It is nice how you and your wife are working on this together. Makes for some very nice weekend dates too! That kayak trips sounds wonderful!

The kayaking was fun. The racks for them should be in this week and once we get that figured out we can take them on trips. There are lakes in the Ouachita national forest a few hours drive away and some great bays to paddle in the Gulf of Mexico.

I ate a big meal at lunch yesterday, but I went light on dinner and went to bed hungry. I woke up at 255.4 which makes no sense, but I'm counting every calorie today and we will see what happens tomorrow.

Ran a 8:15 mile and lifted until my upper body trembled. Still felt a bit pissy so I ate some chocolate chip with pb for dessert. Pouty because your weight bounced up? Try chocolate! That'll help. Oh well I've mellowed a bit now. I shot a pistol, watered the garden and cut my leg up in some Smilax rotundafolia or f'ing greenbrier as I called it in the moment.

Ouch! When you cut yourself you don´t mess about, do you? I know healing takes energy but that´s not a weightloss strategy ;)

I know better than to take off through the woods in shorts, but I did it anyway. I use witch hazel on my bug bites and scratches and that works well.

254.2 for the 9,000th time to lose these same pounds. This is going to be a continuous march to the 240s if I have to go on a hunger strike!

For now I'm counting every calorie and I will try to up my run mileage.

Yep, know the feeling! At least you are down 1.3kg in the 6kg challenge, not up a kilo!
Today is day 1 of no wine.
GO US!!

Well you'll be happy to know you haven't lost any ground on me, but you should take advantage of my brief lull as I'll be storming back with a vengeance!!!

Actually it's 0.8 K as of this morning. I haven't updated the ticker. Good job with the wine!

Vee this is one race I hope to lose. I'll still do my damndest not to, but I hope you trounce me.

252.4 or 114.7 Kgs this morning. Ran a just under 30 min 5K yesterday at a recovery pace except for the last bit when I upped the pace out of boredom 29:58 I believe.

5k under 30 min. Recovery pace! Hmpf. (Seriously: I have loved reading about your running progress, this made me chuckle a bit.)

Maybe I just had a really good night? My plan is to run another 5k tonight and see what happens.

Last night I pried up rebar and landscaping timbers in the yard while E cooked dinner to keep me from snacking. I complained that I was tired after dinner and E says you ran a 5K and then used a sledgehammer and pick axe for an hour in the heat, of course your tired. It kind of put things in perspective. I'm pretty happy to have come this far. There are far more important measures to your quality of life than the scale.

Tonight will be a 5k and then gardening. The squash are all blooming and I have some preparation to do for my fall planting.

I agree with E that you have a right to be tired after that much physical work! It seems like keeping yourself busy in the evenings is really helping you to not snack! And you seem to be getting a lot of work done around the house which is a big plus!

Thanks Mystic! It worked again tonight.

5K 28:53 a moderatly fast pace, but not all out. Faster by a minute 5 seconds from last night. Lifted weights after.

We also went to a garden center before teh gym and a hardware store after.

I got home and potted up my fall crop in peat pots, potted some cilantro, and started to assemble my new electric tiller. Tommorow I hope to break up and then till a new patch for purple hull peas which should be able to make if we don't have an early frost. Even if they don't they will improve the soil. I plan to try growing some in the lawn as well which apparently works. Mow the lawn short, press peas into the ground, water every day for 5 days and mow again, and then the peas should be able to outgrow and shade the grass. Just mow after harvest. We will see if this works. I have way more purple hull seed than space so I also plan to broadcast it in some spots that are rather thin with grass and see if the nitogen fixing will help the soil out a bit. The squash are blooming very densly, but they haven't set fruit yet. Out of 10 hills 9 should produce and the other one was repeatedly dug up by armadillos. The zuchinni looked puny at first, but they are looking much healthier and are growing and setting flower buds.

My dinner was canned hominy and black beans since we did so much before we came home, so all that salt may make for a cruddy weigh-in.

I may have mentioned it before but I love your wife :) And fresh veggies, also love fresh veggies. And armadillos!

Hey me too LaMa!

2.3? Wow!

252.4 again this morning which I take as a good sign after all the sodium last night.

I had trouble getting to sleep last night so I am feeling pretty beat this morning. Something got into my freshly planted seeds and tore up the whole flat. It was on my front porch up on a table so I don't know what happened but it stinks.

Oh, that's a pain Q. If it was here, I would think it was a possum. Squirrel? I love squirrels. I couldn't believe how cute they are when I 1st saw them at my sister's in Baltimore. LaMa is awesome & is sure kicking my fat butt!!
PS I love your wife too. You & I are very lucky people!
