Frogged's Lily Pad

Thank you, ladies You're all so kind to me!

So, a first to report: This last week was a wash.

As some of you might've heard, I went to NY for the first time since I was a toddler. It was a blast!

Unfortunately though, my cousins did not have a weight scale. Well, actually they did, but it was literally older than I am. I think it was manufactured in the 70's sometime and the reading on it was just craziness. I weighed myself before we left Saturday morning and I was around 179 on my digital one. Then, up there, it said I was about 190-195? Hah.

So, I decided just to opt out on obsessing about that weirdness and just enjoy the weekend - which I did! We walked around Manhattan for roughly 7 hours on Saturday. My cousins have an apartment right on Greenwich/Chambers St. by the Freedom tower. We walked from there all the way up to Central Park on Saturday. I saw soooo many things that it's hard to categorize everything! Between my Aunt and I, we took over 350 photos, lol!

However, I tried my best to stick to my usual regimen. BUT, I mean it was New York and I had to sample some of the famous foods. I had pizzas, some chocolates, and even some macaroni and cheese from this awesome little place that's pretty obscure! I'll post a few photos here, but those of you who on this forum that have access to my facebook page, feel free to stalk if you want

Btw, if anyone on here ever wants to be facebook friends, feel free to send me a private message! I find it a great way to keep in touch with friends!

Ok, well here's a few pics for those that are curious - I know everyone loves pics!

Over by Pace, in a small garden where they filmed shots for that TV show 'Ugly Betty'

At the Sea Port, you can see the BMW in the background (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Washington bridges)

Another at the Sea Port - climbing on things

Seinfeld restaurant!!

My cousin and I were going to eat at Tom's, but it was packed. So we walked a block down to a pizza place called Koronet's and.. OMG. The slices were enormous (and tasty!)

I looked like this almost 90% of the time because it was sooooo frigidly cold! The wind was horrendous and my hands and face kept going numb :[

Times Square with my cousins

HAD to pose with Spidey! Just had to! I was wearing my Venom hoodie (which he commented on), so I guess we were neutral enemies for a moment as the pics were taken, hehe ;)

My Aunt likes to taken 'action shots' of us walking around or in the middle of doing something, hehe.

Stopped by the Toys 'R Us in Times Square. Found Iron Man!

FLAT IRON! aka The Daily Bugle from the Spider-Man films! It was soooo cool (and freezing cold!)

Before we left, I had to take a dorky Spidey pose in front of the building (of course) :p So awesome!

Ok, now if the pizza picture wasn't bad enough to post on a weight loss forum, than this will no doubt be shameful, lol. My cousin's girlfriend found this. It's a small little place that sells only macaroni and cheese. It's called S'mac, located at 345 E. 12th St by 1st Ave for anyone in that area. It's awesome!

Of course, I looooove macaroni and cheese, so it was divine  REALLY crowded too! We had trouble just standing there waiting for our order because all the tables were taken and people just kept pouring in. As soon as someone left, there was almost a struggle for empty seats. haha

Rockefeller Center!

With my cousin (in glasses), his girlfriend, and another friend at a very cool place called The Peculiar Pub - based on my cousin's recommendation Very cool and mellow pub!

Shot from right outside my cousins apartment on Greenwich street. Really cool.

Yep.

My Uncle and I

So yeah, just a few shots from the hundreds we took! Lots of fun, but I definitely need to go back when the weather is nicer. I can't even describe how cold it was.. it was just crazy!

But yeah, I guess this week will just be considered a small break

I did weigh myself when I got home and I was up about ~10, so roughly the same after a typical cheat day. I did about 4.2 miles today on the treadmill and I'm following my usual diet, so I'll resume updating this weekend as usual

Thanks everyone for your support and I hope you're all doing well, too!

AO..m..gosh! The Seinfeld restaurant! I'm jealous. The pic with you and Spiderman, with Spongebob lingering in the background...lol...Awesome. Glad you had fun. I'm sure those 10 you're up will be gone before you know it. :)

ALove love love the pics!! You look so happy even if its freezing...you make me want to get to NYC sooner than later....we just never get up there!!

Don't you just love looking at pics of yourself now doing things and being happy in more pictures...then just trying to find the one or two that show you in an ok way!! It must feel freaking great!! So jealous in a non mean way....haha.

and that food looks to die for omg!!! :)

Yeah, it was a good time! Short-lived, but fun.

Unfortunately, one of the souvenirs I brought back other than a few shirts was a brand new cold! I was literally getting over the remaining sniffles from my last one just prior to going to NY, and only a few days after getting back.. bam. Another monster cold hits me. I feel like death.

I'm still exercising (its tough), but I'm chugging dayquil + nyquil. My weight is blegh.. still in the 180's as I type this. Frustrating, and today's wintry weather didn't help much with my anxiety level as I had to spend about 4 hours driving around in this shit. I didn't get stuck, but I slid and my tires spun a few times out there.

Ugh.

That's all I can say right now.. ugh.

:(

AColds are not fun. My mom, son, and Chef have all been sick in the last two weeks. I apparently have a super human immune system because I haven't gotten it. :coolgleamA: Of course I'll get it now that's I've said that. LOL! Feel better!

Heeeeeeeey there!

So sorry to hear about your cold, truly sucks, maybe if you're not getting better very fast you might lay of the exercise a bit and let your body use that energy to fight off what's going on? (Do I sound like a mom? sorry :p) Try not to worry about your weight, I never see a loss when I'm sick, always comes after, and with all your mad-man style exercise it's gotta be on it's way soon!

Your trip to NYC looks like a freakin blast and jeeeeez are you looking cute in your pics! lol was that guilt in your eyes when they caught you with the mac 'n cheese? ;) Glad to see you enjoyed yourself and the food! Looking forward to seeing more pics as you continue your travels, Oktoberfest you say? I couldn't be more jealous! I have an aunt and uncle in Germany and they're always inviting me out, tickets are definitely pricey, but it's a dream of mine to make it to Fashing and hit up Europe for all of those Carnival celebrations. So cool.

What an awesome idea about sending your success story into People, you're a total shoe-in! Can't wait to see you popping up all over the newsstands!

Keep up the great work as always, hope you feel better soon! :)

AWow dude your story, trials and tribulations of your journey are truly inspiring! Keep up the great work and spectacular outlook! :)

We can be cold-siblings, united in misery and stuffy noses! :D

On the weight loss front.. meh. It'll come eventually, as you always told me when I was sulking.. just have to wait for the body to stop being such a poohead! So don't sweat it, you've stuck out worse! :D

Chin up matey.. and I fully expect to see you showing off those new shirts in the next few posts!

Unfortunately, the money is in the medicine, not the cure
smile.gif

I hope you don't get sick, Crym! But if you do, I'd be happy to be your sick sibling :p I picked up a big container of NyQuil, so I'm expecting to sleep well tonight as I don't have a very early morning tomorrow
smile.gif

I'll be happy to show off my shirts - once I get this retention off! They're a bit snug atm :[

Lucky!

Yep - you're gonna get it now, jen!

You're right, Rosie. You and Crym have both mentioned that I might be overdoing it a bit with my exercise, so I'm taking it a bit easier this week. I'm only doing about 3.5 miles a day instead of my usual - so about half of my usual routine. We'll see how that works in regards to the number on the scale on Sunday. I'm watching my calories close, but I feel that if I don't get in at least 5 miles a day, it meets with a disappointing number on the scale. :)

Ah well. I feel my body needs a small break, as getting sick back-to-back can't be good, obviously :p

Yeah.. a small bit of guilt.. It was soo good though. Oh my, but with all the walking we did that day, I feel I burned most of it off. Unfortunately, a tub of cookies my aunt had leftover from Christmas at my cousin's apartment was probably the biggest downfall during my trip. Damn peanut butter cookies! Argh!

Yah, Oktoberfest is a possibility!
smile.gif
Just have to save a bit, see about my paid leave time, and coordinate with the people I'd like to go with! Won't be until around Sept/Oct, so there's still a good amount of time. Hope to be at my goal weight by then!
smile.gif

Fingers crossed about magazines as well! I'll be sure to post if/when it happens!

I shall! Thanks for stopping by and your lovely comment!

Oh! I wanted to share this amazing drawing a friend of mine did for me this week!

As most of you know, I'm a huge geek and love anything and everything involving superheroes! Well, she's an incredible artist and had previously drawn a few sketches of me that I have framed and hanging in my room, and this is the most recent masterpiece of hers! I was at a loss for words when she showed it to me!

It's called 'Iron Greg' :hurray: :hurray:

I went into pure Geek mode the moment she lifted it up to the screen on Skype!

I think I made a bit of a fool of myself, but I fucking love this kind of thing and it's been a while since she made one for me! I was floored!

Another reason I love these sketches is because it provides me with such amazing inspiration when I exercise! I have the originals above my desk and my treadmill faces them, so I always see them while running. She's going to send me this one when the weather is a bit nicer. It's raining where she lives, so we don't want to compromise it.

So these, along with all the wonderful comments I receive here, and the friends I've made on this forum, just compile together to really keep me going!

:eek2:Holy crap that is beyond amazing. Woah. If someone drew something like that of me, I would have totally lost it too!! I am so jealous of people who can draw!! Oh, and I'm jealous that you have a picture like that!!

Hmmm picture drawing, special gifts that come in the mail suspiciously close to Valentine's Day, Skype rendezvouses..... do you have a secret romance that you're withholding from us??? :)

So I can't help but notice that you seem to be getting some diminishing returns on your running? It just seems like you have to do an inordinate amount of exercise to get results? If that's what's going on, it sounds like your body has possibly adapted to your current exercise regime, maybe it's time to start changing it up a little? (Cough, P90x, Cough) ;)

Eh, just a thought :D

I was slapping my desk like some kind of agitated primate due to my giddiness, lol :p

I dunno. I guess I'm just not used to that kind of generosity and loveliness from someone outside of family. I remember the days when the only thing I'd receive from another person was a look of disgust, and now I'm getting portraits done of me as a friggin' superhero!! Talk about a 180!

Well.. we are technically each other's Valentines this year. :blush5: But it really doesn't go too far beyond that right now. Suffice it to say, long distance isn't something we're both keen on. If we lived closer, who knows. But, were just good friends atm

Yes, P90X is something I will delve in to (I promise!). My ADD kicks in from time to time and I sometimes get distracted by other things. Just the other day, some damage to my house occurred, so I'm now having to deal with that :\ Eh... it'll be costly, I'm sure.. but it's a good thing I have that money tree growing in my backyard (as my roommate tends to think), haha :p

Damn! I never showed you all them? Well, there's SuperGreg, which I've had as my profile forever. Then, SpideyGreg!

She's done 3 for me so far, but I'm hoping to fill out my room with them eventually!

Here are the other 2 she's done for me:

hehe, Spidey is the first one she did of me! I was goofing around and had the mask from my full-body spidey suit on, along with some random t-shirt, lol :p I had no idea she was going to sketch me!

But yeah, I'm a total geek for this stuff! I get pretty excited and, if she's willing, I can't wait to see more in the future!

HAHAHA! Is there video of this? ( Please say yes....please say yes)

And...awwwwwwwwwwwwwww... Frogged has a valentine! Chef and I's anniversary is Valentine's.....just sayin'.... :p I completely understand not wanting to do long distance though. It sucks really bad. Like really bad. We did it for a year and a half, and I'm pretty sure it felt more like 10 years..lol. Very much worth it in the end though. :)

Woah Greg, you have a money tree in your back yard?!? That's pretty awesome seeing as I have a fountain of youth in my bathroom!! Maybe we could work out a little deal eh? A little exchange program maybe? ;)

Sorry, to hear about your house repairs, what a bummer! :( But, I did read "I promise" so I look forward to you embarking upon P90X when you get that all sorted out! :D

Nice job on scoring the Valentine :D Too bad about the distance, long distance relationships are incredibly hard, especially if you are starting the relationship out that way -- that just adds a whole new list of difficulties into the mix :p But, at least for now you've got a good friend and someone to buy conversation hearts for! ;)

AI have been in a long distance relationship for 7 months. The distance sucks, but the relationship doesn't. It is so worth the wait to see him every month. :)
If you like her, then just let it happen. You're not stuck in one place for the rest of your life. Moving 250 miles away from my home was the best thing I've ever done. The next best was to be in my long distance relationship. ;)

haha, you wish!

We weren't recording on Skype. Can you even record? I dunno. I was so thrilled at what I was seeing that I don't even remember half of what happened :p I was also a bit rundown from my cold :)

Regardless, it was probably the nicest thing someone has ever done for me and I'll never forget it.
smile.gif

Yeah, long distance sounds horrible. I have no experience with it, but I can imagine it and no.. not fun to think about unfortunately. I'd do anything for her, so if she doesn't want it, then that's it.

Rosie! Sounds good  We'll work something out in regards to your Fountain. I wouldn't mind shaving a few years off my age! Make me 21 again please!

You may still need to push me into P90X with friendly little reminders ;) I'll get to it, but I'm just feeling a bit strained with my running to be honest. The over-training definitely seems to be an issue with me at this point. I'm pushing myself to some unknown limits and my results are a bit stagnant. I'm afraid to reduce any of my intensity due to the amount of retention I've seen on the scale from a few days of 'rest'. I don't want to see 20+ pounds of retention put on simply because I took 2 or 3 days off from running. It's almost as discouraging as dealing with this issue of running 7 miles each day and only seeing a 0.2lb loss each week :\ Bah.

Hope all is well with you Mr Green.. really sucks about the damage to the house.. what caused it, if you don't mind me asking? Hope it's easily fixed!

She is definitely an angel in my life and I consider myself one of the luckiest people on earth to have met her.
smile.gif
The fact that she tolerates my goofy nature after all this time is just amazing to me! hehe

We do plan on meeting in the near future. We both live on the east coast and we've already sort of set a date to travel to NYC for a day and just hang out!
smile.gif
It'll be awesome! No doubt pictures will be taken again, so look out for that, hehe :p

She has an amazing heart and is just so much fun to talk to. She makes me laugh and smile all the time and is so beautiful inside and out.
smile.gif
It's just such a shame about our distance :\

Oh, and as for the damage to my house, a gutter fell off near my patio. It exposed some rotting wood underneath, so I'll be looking at either patching, or replacing, some (if not all) of the roofing in the section :[

Hi Robyn :)

Well, the relationship would definitely be strained I think. We've already talked about it on Skype at some length. It would be hard, and I would never pressure her into doing something that would make her life more difficult. I've told her how I feel, and she's told me about her past experiences with long distance, and I respect it 100%. So, yeah.. as much as I like her and would love to pursue something more, I'm just happy to have her in my life at all - even if it's just as a pen pal.
smile.gif

I am sorta stuck in where I live atm. I mean, I have a good job and just recently bought a house, so I can't really see myself moving for a while.. especially with the economy the way it is. Just gonna hang on to this for a few more years I think, while working on my weight and body, but as I've said to her while on Skype, you never know what the future holds!
smile.gif

AHi Greg :seeya:

I have seen you comment on other people's diaries and have been meaning to have a read of yours but i look at the 300+ posts and think 'oh man, that is gonna take ages' but i thought i would have a go this afternoon seeing as i don't have much else to do. I read your first post, actually only a bit of it cos it said about your 'before & after photos' so i went to check them out and............
OMG!!!!! You have totally transformed!!!! You look freaking awesome!!!!! I read a bit that you had written there and i see you don't take compliments well (tell me about it lol, i struggle with the same problem) so i won't make you feel uncomfortable by gushing about how bloody hot you look!!!!!!!
I just wanted to say wow you are such an inspiration, truly!!! I have been pretty slack these last few weeks and you have given me the kick up the backside to crack on properly and get this last bit lost!!!! Thank you :)

Ok, i am actually gonna read your diary now......i May be some time :)

Well done Mate, you rock :)

:blush5:

Thank you so much, Kate!

Hehe, I do have a lot chronicled on this forum, don't I? :p It's been quite a crazy few months.

I am definitely better at genuinely accepting compliments now than I was when I first started posting here.
smile.gif
So thank you again! hehe  I'm so glad I could give you a bit of a jump start! Go out there and kick some butt! :hurray:

Although I wish I could give myself the same kind of boost. I've been feeling pretty fatigued these last few weigh ins. I realize I need to take more rest, even though I'm honestly really afraid to. It seems like the slightest change in my routine results in catastrophe on the scale. Just eating a rogue potato chip or not doing my runs at my typical intensity always seems to result in a bad number and/or little-to-no change in my weight the following morning. ugh. :)

I feel exhausted mentally and physically some days, so I need to figure out something. Unfortunately, I think it's going to lead to some gains on my chart, but I have to recalibrate because I know I can't keep this up indefinitely. I'll just have to really watch my intake when I figure out my rest schedule from my running.

At any rate, it's just another experience on this path that I'll learn from and then be able to apply in the future whenever I start helping people with their weight loss on a more professional arena.
smile.gif
There's a purpose and a reason for everything, and this will only make me more confident when I finally solidify my plans to become a CPT!

AHey there frogged. Just been catching up on your journal and you've been through a lot of exciting things recently! Particularly with the trip to NY (awesome pics, esp the macaroni LOL), career plans and the new romance :D I'm really glad you're becoming more confident in yourself. If I were half as handsome as you, my self esteem would go up exponentially :p Obviously, I only know you from the forums, but you seem like a genuinely nice person and definitely deserve whatever happiness is coming your way. Keep on rockin' Iron Greg :)
