On the exercise front .. with the physical strains of your job as well, are you sure you're not overtraining yourself? If you're exercising so much, have you upped your caloric intake as well to stop starvation mode? Maybe you should try something different instead of the treadmill to give those muscles a break - maybe try weight training? Maybe you're at that point now where resistance training and weights would be more beneficial than constant cardio? (Would mean weight gain, but from muscle!) I've started pumping weights while on the running machine - you definitely feel it. Up to you of course, just wondering if switching things around for a week would work to your advantage.. Don't overdo it though mate, give yourself a day off now and then. As you always wisely say to me, it's not a race!
I know what you mean about the retention though - if i have pizza, I spend the next god knows how long paying for it. It's still worth doing imo, just to shock the metabolism, but if your body is in starvation mode then obviously it can be counterproductive until you've brought yourself back to a good daily level of calories.
Chip up!
Hehe, my cheery face!
I was in a particularly cheery mood last night, but in really no condition to post (aka tipsy), tehe
However, me and a few other forum members utilized the Chat Room feature pretty good last night for a few hours. It was fun!
You might be right about the over-training aspect. I definitely run
a lot. I've been running every day (even Sunday) for the last few months. Although I only do half of what I normally do on Sunday, but still, I push myself hard during that session just like every other day. I do very light weight training Mon/Wed/Fri with a 35lb kettle bell my Uncle gave me. It's not much, just a few repetitions, coupled with some sit-ups and a few push-ups. Nothing too intense, and I usually get it all done in about 5-10 minutes.
Yep, I need to take my own advice sometimes, I admit. It's not a race and we'll all get there in time. It's just that a lot of doors are opening up for me now with my weight loss and I keep aiming for small targets to hit before I walk through them - and I want to walk through them asap!
So yeah, as always, great advice, Crym! I always appreciate it and sometimes it's good to get reminders too as you go along since this journey can get pretty crazy at times, hehe
Starvation mode is something I tip toe around I think some weeks. I definitely feel great hunger some evenings, but I just chew gum like crazy and drink (water usually) to counteract it. It helps and usually I'm feeling 'ok' by the time I go to bed. But, next time I eat something 'heavy' with calories/sodium, the weight takes off like a rocket and then it takes days/weeks to get back to where I was.
Well, maintenance mode is coming up soon for me, so I'm just planning to do some reading and research, followed by adjustments in my diet/exercise until I find a suitable balance
Let's hope that balance includes a bit more cookies!

Hi Andie
Madness has died down (thankfully)! There's still a few lingering crazy days, but nothing compared to how it was a few weeks ago! Eesh.
The break was good, but short. Although my job never really has 'vacation' days, as the mail never stops and we just get dumped on even more when we come back. Having a Monday off is bad, bad, bad. That means, we have all of Sunday, Monday, AND Tuesday's mail volume to deal with when we come back. Ugh.. Not. Fun. But, job security I guess (as my boss says).. hah.
As far as what I want to achieve this year, well, let's see..
Definitely want to hit my goal weight. That's top on my priority list, and I will. Then, I'd like to travel a bit. I'm going to NY this weekend, and I just recently submitted the paperwork for my first us passport. I plan on possibly going to Canada sometime in the near future to visit a friend. Then, if I can get the time off and the finances in order, perhaps Germany later on in the year with some friends (Oktoberfest!!)
Then, I'm looking into joining a gym, working on getting my PTC (Personal Trainer Certification), and also contour surgery. That is, if I can get the money for it. We'll see. I'll talk to my doctor more in depth at some point and see what kind of options are available.
It's gonna be a busy, but fun, year!
