lizzi - I'm with you when it comes to summer fruits. Love mangoes and nectarines. When they are out of season I'll be back to apples, which I usually save both of until night for dessert. I just microwave them in sprite, with some artificial sweetner on them, and occasionally some cinnamon. Sometimes they are nice eaten cold like this too.
ridiculous - I also like calamari. It's nice cooked with a bit of salt too.
I can i will - i agree, Wal looked incredible. You are doing so well. You are so close, you must be over the moon, and moneypenny too.
lizzi and pink virgo - you gals are showing you have strength of character, whatever we experience doing this, I'm sure it teaches us something about ourselves. You both have a lot to be proud of.
I'm really impressed with the different recipes everyone is coming up with. What's the saying "neccessity is the mother of invention" or something to that effect. Most of you have more imagination than me, in the cooking dept anyway. (cooking is not my favourite pasttime). But maybe thats because I have a negative view of food. Listening to Jillian and Bob on Biggest Loser, talking to Christy last night about the chocolate cake - they could have been talking to me.
Have a great day everyone. x

Hello people!
Day 16 for me and 8 kilos are gone forever!

I can't believe that I am sitting here actually enjoying a black cup of coffee - who would have thought it!
I'm slacking off at work BIG-TIME because I'm dreaming about the size 10 jeans I am going to wear one day soon.

i can see it now - little jeans and a skinny black roll-neck for a wintery melbourne day.

Have a great day all - and drink that water!!!

Minxy xx

Oh - I have one more question....
Is everybody happy with the weight that Cohen's has set you?
My Cohen goal weight is 73kg - not too bad considering I am 6 feet tall. I know it's only a guide they give you but I remember being at my happiest when I was about 68kg. I guess I'll re-assess at the time.
xx

Way to go Minxy!

Day 16 for me and 8 kilos are gone forever!

Awesome progress. Keep drinking that water Minxy. You'll be at your goal weight in no time at all.

Minxy - My goal weight as set by Cohen's is 64kg. My Mum nearly died when I told her as that was about the skinniest I ever was, I think. I am 9.5kg off that now and I am fitting in to some (not all) of my size 10 clothes, so in my experience, the Cohen's goal weight is quite ambitious. For comparison, at my height, Weight Watchers offer a goal weight range of 71kg to 58kg, I think, so there is obviously quite a bit of variation...

I think we should all aim for the goal weight we think we can realistically achieve and it should be one we will feel good, sexy and comfortable at. My goal is the same as what Cohen's set for me, but that shouldn't necessarily be the case for everyone...

Snails pace...

Hey guys,

MINXY - What a great result!! 8kg in 16 days! Now that's the sort of weight loss that Cohen's is known for! You must be as pleased as punch! As for the weight set down by Cohen's mine is 68 - 71kg ( I'm 5"10 ). I'm aiming for 71 because re-feed can often lead to a further loss. If it happens, it happens, if not I'd be happy at 71.

LIZZI - If this program takes me til October to finish I would so not be happy! For someone who sticks to it and doesn't deviate ( unknowingly anyway! ) I expect decent results. I realise October is about 24 weeks away, and with my record of losing 1kg or less per week that time frame is obviously feasible for me right now. But it's not good enough. I'm really starting to feel mislead.... :(

For example, I sent an email to my consultant about my two monthly stats, and she replied with
"Hi Natalie, Thanks for the email and update. I understand your loss is slower than what you were hoping it to be" . HOPING it to be? It's slower than what I was TOLD it would be. Slower than what I was TOLD is expected. I'm so close to asking for a re-testing cos I really think that my program is wrong. Seriously, I was given an 11 month period for my program, and two months is already up. If I continue to lose, on average, 500g per week, I'll be rid of my 23kg in 46 weeks! That's 11 and a half months just there, to lose the remainder of my weight.

Now I know I whinge all the time on here and I'm SORRY, but it's so frustrating! I do everything right, drink the nominated amount of water, leave the nominated amount of time in between meals and before going to bed, blah blah blah. I'm not frustrated because I'm on a 'diet' and can't eat yummy things, because the food and program has become my lifestyle now. Get this - I was so frustrated today I told my sister I was going to have whatever I wanted for lunch, as maybe having something 'non-Cohen's' would shock my body into losing again. But I couldn't do it. I could not let myself eat something non-Cohen's!! I couldn't work out if what was stopping me was guilt, consfusion, indecision as to what to actually have or straight out fear that I'd feel ill or screw up the program completely. Has anyone else felt like this at all??

To everyone achieving super losses, WELL DONE and I am totally envious! (Like you couldn't tell that already!). I only wish I knew how you did it!!

Take care everyone... I will try not to post anymore unless I have something good to say or good news to post... which means I probably won't post for some time (but rest assured I will still be reading everyone elses!).

PinkVirgo - OH Sweetheart, I feel for you so much. :( You know what I'd be inclined to do...... physically go down to the clinic & be very assertive (not aggressive) & state exactly the reasons why you want to be retested as you stated on this forum. It is NOT unreasonable at all. Let's face it, your not happy & it's a lot of money! After 2 months, you have a reasonable span of time to be judgemental !!

PinkVirgo - I'm so proud of your determination & committment, as I'm sure the rest of the girls on this forum are too!! Even though it's been so disheartening - you have shown the true you to yourself!! Now that is HUGE!!! Please be VERY proud of yourself because we are!!! :) Thnking of you & just want you to know, I'm here for you - and please don't ever apologise for venting!! - It's a MUST!! :)

Oh, Pink Virgo! Don't be sorry! You have as much right as any of us to vent. I think you have every right to request a re-test too. It is a lot of money, and part of the deal is that if you need support you are able to visit and contact the clinic as often as you feel the need. I think you should document exactly what you eat and when and make an appointment with your consultant and go through everything. If she can't see an issue with what you're doing, perhaps your program is a little wrong. Either way, it won't hurt for you to speak to the consultant for your own peace of mind. On a positive note - I'm betting you are still skinnier that what you'd be if you hadn't done it!

Mixy - I am 5'11' and wear a size 9.5 shoe and my goal weight was 71-74kgs. The lightest I have ever been as a grown up is about 70kg and it was impossible for me to maintain in the real world, so I'm happy to be around the 74-72kg range. And that is consistent with WW and with what my doctor has said.

Day 12 over for me - can't wait to weigh in on Saturday. But I know i haven't lost anything like last week.

Keep up the water everyone! And chin up Pink Virgo!

Bella

Don't stop posting!

Pink Virgo, I understand your frustration, and if you are to have any chance of doing this, you have to have a place where you speak out.
Seems to be something happening between your first month of 7kgs and your second month of 3 point something. Maybe next week it will be better?

I can't believe it is going to take 42 weeks. I have had months that have only been 3.5kgs and the most has been 4.7 - and that was a LONG time ago. Last month for me was only 2.8!!
Don't know the answer. I don't know how we get the answer. There has to be one. And I have thought about the retesting to.

The only thing that keeps me going is KNOWING from experience that nothing else was working for me at this rate. So it was better than anything else I had tried - and I mean tried properly and strictly. So I figure if this is the best my body can do, it HAS TO BE enough - because there is no where else to go.
I think like you do, that there has to be an answer here that someone is overlooking.
But whatever, please don't just run away and stop posting, we may as well go through this together.
I feel for you,
Take care,
lizzi

The colour of...

Hi all,

I need to drink 2-3 litres of water daily. I pace myself through the day and drink a litre say, every 4 hours. Despite the quantity of water drunk, my urine has on occassions been a ghastly shade of bright yellow. Is this common?

Pink Virgo - I do feel for you. I have been on other programmes where my weight loss was frustratingly slow. There were times when I was so depressed, I had a pity party for myself just because of the frustration I felt.

When I was sick and tired of feeling sick and tired, I knew I had to take action. rediculous and i Can i Will have made helpful suggestions.

I think that it is awesome that you stuck to your personal program.
Hang in there. This too shall pass.

Hopeful1 - My urine is yellow too, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the multivitamins. If your contains beta caratine, vit c etc etc, all of these will colour your urine. You will find though, that as the day goes on, it will become paler. I've also found that the longer I've been on them, the less impact it's having on my urine. It's no where near as yellow now as it was on day one.

Nothing to worry about!

Sweet curry sauce

Morning all!!
It is another day and another opportunity for loss. I still haven't lost my 0.3 which is a pain, but it can't stay put for much longer - I want to change that ticker!!

On a different note, Tash*, I went to make the sweet chilli sauce last night for the 3rd night in a row (different combination of foods), and I was so looking forward to it. Got to the last part of the recipe where I was going for the chilli (I've been using the chilli powder rather than the real thing), and remembered that I had run out the night before. Bit frustrated, but decided on the curry powder instead and it was the yummiest sweet curry sauce!! I was so impressed that I will be having that again this evening.
Have a good day everyone,
lizzi

New to all of this

Hi there,

I am about to embark on this Cohen's Lifestyle Program and am quite nervous about it all. I hope you guys won't mind me joining in on your supoprt group. I really need to do something to lose this weight, I am just so over feeling this way about myself. Time for a change. I so hope I can stick to it........wish me luck!

Frog:)

Hi Frog!

Welcome. You have come to the right place. Lots of support and good information exchanges. There are several other newbies on this forum.

I am into Day 3 of Cohens. Cautiously optimistic about my weight loss in the first week.

When do you start your programme?

cohen's for vegetarians (who eat seafood)

Hi there

I've been reading everyone's posts for a while now...congratulations to everyone, just making the decision to take part in the program is a big step and the weight loss is such a personal acheivement...because only you can make it happen!

I was wondering what proteins are allowed to be eaten by vegetarians on this diet? I eat egg, seafood, cheese, tofu, kidney beans, lentils, chick peas etc and have seen the programs for meat eaters, and there is alot of meat on there....so I was wondering what alternative protein vegetarians can eat? Are you allowed tofu? I'm guessing you would have to be...but how much?

From looking at everyone's posts, I'd assume you are all meat eaters...but any insight you could give me would be really appreciated. I really want to make the decision to do this, but would love to know what food vegetarians are allowed to eat on this program as I don't know how I'd survive on just seafood, egg and cheese.

Thanks in advance ;)

SARAH

Hi there!
You can eat a variety of fish, eggs (no more than one a day), cheese (only certain types) and tofu on this programme. I'm not a vegetarian but I chose tofu to go on my plan.
You can't have kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas etc. But the vegies & salads make up for this!

This is a GREAT programme!

Good luck!

Minxy xx

hey minxy

thanks so much for your reply! that's great news....I'm guessing it would have to be straight up tofu (not fried or marinated etc), and then you stirfry it and add your own dressing etc? how much roughly are you allowed....is it 110grams tofu and 95 veg or something?

i'm excited!!!! hehe

Hey hey Cohenistas! (is that even a word?)

Just thought I'd share - I had another 500gm loss over night (I'm gobsmacked - when will I slow down?)
Which means I'm only 1.5kgs off my first goal.

Saw a friend of mine who I haven't seen in 2 and a half weeks last night and she nearly burst into tears when she saw me - she was so shocked at the change that tomorrow morning she is off for her blood test to join up aswell! I was stoked with her reaction it made me feel really good.

Pink Virgo - Icaniwill is right, you need to march your booty down to your Cohen clinic and say WTF??
I'm so sad for you that you are not as happy as you could be on this programme - I can't work out why I am so far one of the lucky ones but I'm happy to share any details if anybody is interested.

And don't apologise for whinging - you are entitled to - as we all are. My whinge for today is:

"I hate the SOB who got in the lift with me at work eating a huge pink-iced donut, the smell nearly made me tear his face off" I love the smell of that sickly-sweet pink fondant icing...................

Eeek - here comes the boss, I gotta go xx

Hey Sarah - I can't really give the measurements because they are different for everybody (depending on weight-loss goals, height, shoe size, all that crap!)

(Boss is gone again - I can continue crapping on here)

And the marinades aren't that great you can make yummy ones but I find it hard to make tofu taste good unless it's been fried and smothered in peanut sauce! - I basically just grill mine plain with a salad and look at pictures of skinny people while I force it down my throat!!! (Although a bit of chilli, curry powder and salt & pepper does make it a bit more bearable!)

cool...thanks for your info. makes me feel alot better about it all ;)
