Hi there,

I am about to embark on this Cohen's Lifestyle Program and am quite nervous about it all. I hope you guys won't mind me joining in on your supoprt group. I really need to do something to lose this weight, I am just so over feeling this way about myself. Time for a change. I so hope I can stick to it........wish me luck!

Frog:)

HEY Frog WELCOME!!! :D

We're always here for you!!!!!!

Whew!! It's Thursday afternoon!!

Well it isn't Friday yet, but the last 2 weeks have been hectic, and as of now, all the heavy things are finished and there is nothing out of the ordinary in my diary for the next week, so I am feeling like I can begin to wind down for the weekend, and a very average day tomorrow - whatever that means. Phew!!

Welcome Frog. Looking forward to hearing more from you. And good luck.

You too sarah. I think on the application form it says something like: we can do a vegetarian plan as long as you can eat at least 3 of the following:
cheese egg fish yoghurt tofu. If there are other choices I can't remember. So you can have a plan that has those plus or instead of poultry and meat. Should be OK for you. I wish you well.

Good on you minxy!! Seems you are starting well. Fantastic for you.

Hello, hello, hello everyone!

Welcome Frog! There are going to be ups and downs, but it's all going to be worth it!

Great result Minxy - how long have you been on Cohen's now?

I'm hanging out for Saturday cos I get to measure again, and I allow myself to weigh-in again - YAY! Can't wait! Do have a workmate's birthday party - first real test. Needless to say, I've nominated myself as the designated driver!

Keep up that water, and no doubt I'll talk to you all soon!

What to look forward to....

I was day dreaming at work today & thought of something we could all do on this forum to help in our motivation..... we could all finish of this sentence below -

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to.......

  • buy & wear cute strappy tops
  • enjoy the feeling of being able to sit for more than 5 minutes before I become paranoid that my belly bumps are VERY visable....bursting through / over the top/jeans/skirt I'm wearing
  • be able to look through funky fashion shops without an weird look from other shoppers & the shop assistant!
  • feel comfortable in a skirt shorter than ankle length!!
  • look in the mirror & admire the image looking back at me
  • see the real me in my reflection
  • walk around the shops etc. without adjusting my top...

What do you think?? ;) If you want to join me in my !!madness!! -copy & paste -When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to....... then list down what you'd be happy doing etc.. I thought it would be a bit of fun ??!! XX :D

Good idea

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to....... enjoy the fact that my weight is no longer stopping people from appreciating the me that's been obscured by outward first impressions, in a world where weight does affect the way people treat you.

I am so looking forward to that - and the change is already in progress.

Good idea i CaN i WiLL

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to....... choose my clothes because I like them, not because they fit! When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to....... see my knees when I look down! LOL

Thank you

Thanks so much to everyone for the warm welcome. I will keep you posted on my progress.

I love this idea....

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to.......

....wear bathers and not hide under a towel or a sarong.....make love with the light on....to be happy with myself and relax....

Have a good weekend everyone.

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy goal weight I want to.......

Eat a bloody donut with pink icing without people staring at me like a fat pig.

Go back to the gym and not look out of place (seems funny, needing to lose weight to go the gym!)

Wear beautiful clothing without the bits hanging over the waistband

Wear nice bras without the fat hanging over the back of them.

Have my mother-in-law (who is always on a diet and weighs about 45 kilos) not look at me with a smirk on her face.

Get pregnant again and not gain 37 kilos like last time!

xx

Morning Ladies!

well, long time no post, but things have been a bit hectic around here as of late - but i'm still on the wagon and very proud of that fact!

Start of week six, and 11.6kgs lost! getting close now! I'll order my refeed at 71kgs, just so i don't worry about the diet whilst on holidays, and then if i feel i need to, i will get back on the program when i get back.

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to....... be confident and happy in myself! Wear bikini's this summer, or even just show any skin this summer!! Go on a huge shopping spree!

well, my meals are getting a bit boring, but sometimes it's just easier to stick to the same thing.
what is everyone's favourite meal? if we all post our faves, it might give others some good ideas?

mine at the moment is grilled chicken breast (pretty boring, but i do up a whole heap at once, all weighed out, grill them then freeze them, so then i don't have to cook for lunches)
Chicken breast ( i slice mine up into fillets, they grill better)
garlic powder
herbs to taste - coriander, mint, chives, thyme, rosemary - whatever you fancy
dip the chicken into a bit of lemonade or balsamic, then into a bowl with your herb combo. then simply grill - i use a breville grill plate, electric thing, (ll the fat rolls down the side), then i let cool, and either slice, or put whole into labelled freezer bags.

the other day i did about 20 meals worth, so much easier doing it all at once.

what's everyone elses fave?

hey minxy

thanks so much for your reply! that's great news....I'm guessing it would have to be straight up tofu (not fried or marinated etc), and then you stirfry it and add your own dressing etc? how much roughly are you allowed....is it 110grams tofu and 95 veg or something?

i'm excited!!!! hehe

Hi Sarah, why not ring your nearest Cohens centre and ask for an appointment with the consultant to talk it over, I'm sure that they would have a different diet for veg's. But even so which ever way you go, good luck.:D

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to.......be able to buy clothes that look good and not just because they fit, play 18 holes of golf without my legs aching and just feel great.

My favourite meal would have to be Mango Chicken -
Brown chicken cubes first then stirfry: onion, capsicum, cabbage or bok choy.
Add chicken back to pan then add finely chopped mango with teaspoon mustard, teaspoon mayo (I don't use the mayo, would rather have it on salad),with a little water and let juices reduce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
YUMMY The only thing wrong with this is that it's never enough LOL:D

the old me - your stats are the same as mine 93.5 and I started on the 20th. Have lost 7.5 in 6 weeks so am not all that excited but guess it is better off then on:D I'm 5.6" and size 9 shoe and Cohens have put my goal at 58/61. I don't think I was ever this weight ha ha so am aiming for 70kg but one thing about this diet is how flexible you can be so may change that as I get closer.

What is everyone's real motivation for doing this diet? Mine would have to be my 10yr old granddaughter who is really encouraging and measures my waist every week. (it has gone from 117cms to 107cm in 5 weeks) WOW!
I can notice the difference in my slacks and tops. Will be able to play with her more without feeling like I'm pooped. So that has to be a good thing:cool:

This is the first weekend since starting that I don't have a function of some sort on so will not be tempted. I'm one of these people that think "Oh one little bit wont hurt" BUT IT DOES.

Have a good weekend everyone.

My motivation for losing

I work with people with illnesses and disabilities. I see so many people with severe arthritis and many other skeletal and other problems. I have noticed that it is often overweight people who seem to suffer more as they are carrying around such a load all the time and I also notice that if you have a condition like this it becomes very hard to get the weight off due to restrictions with excercise etc. I know that losing weight does not guarantee that I won't get anything like this but at least I reduce my chances and will cope better if I do get arthritis or a back problem or similar. Other reasons are, to look and feel better both in and out of my clothes and to be able to buy "normal" sizes.

gayegel yes I see we are nearly the same in start weight and loss still to go. I aknowledge your disappointment at less than speedy weight loss. I feel the same, although I have been lucky to lose a little more than you. Just stay positive and realise that it is all weight loss, no matter what speed. I think its helpful to have some other slower losers to compare ourselves with as we can't all just shed weight at the speed some are lucky enough to do. You say you are a Grandma, I am guessing that means you are not 20 years old. I think it makes a difference. We older women have been stuffing our metabolisms around for years with yo yo diets etc. Keep up the good work. Jen

the old me you must be on the computer at the same time as me. Yes you guessed correctly, I'm not 20 any more unfortunately but in my 50's and have some arthritis in my fingers so hope by losing weight as you say, may alleviate some of my problems or at best stop it from getting any worse.

Can anyone tell me what does "newb" mean under our signin name?

When I want to add colour to the message do I choose the colour before or after I've typed the message?

hopeful1 - See you have done your ticker (sounds like your heart) I have mastered it now but did take me a while. Good luck with the new lifestyle.

Food intolerance?

Hi all,

Just into day 3 of my plan. Had the most bizarre experience. After eating an apple, I felt ill - and knew that my body did not like what I had just eaten.

I spewed out the apple and am wondering what is going on. Anyone else have this experience?

Also think I stuffed up yesterday. Had mozarella with my salad for lunch. When I looked at the packaging for the cheese last night, and realized that is was not low fat. Horrors! Funny that my eating plan says nothing about low fat mozarella but does state that cottage cheese needs to be low fat or fat free. This does not make sense to me. Or maybe I just did not read the protein group right.

gayegal yes, did my ticker thanks to PinkVirgo's instructions.

When I'm at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight I want to.......
- walk into a designer boutique and try on every that catches me eye and not worry if they have anything in my size.
- make love with the light on
- eat whatever I want in front of my "thin as a rake" relatives who have been "encouraging" me to lose weight since forever

Hopeful1 - I too had a bizarre spewing experience not long after I started Cohen's. I can't remember exactly what I ate to cause it, but I threw up about 6 times one afternoon when I arrived home from work. I just put it down to my body adjusting to the program etc and it hasn't happened again... I wouldn't worry.

Well, my weight loss has slowed down a notch or two lately. I had hoped to be 72kg today but I was 73kg this morning so not exactly on target for my weekly mini-goals which I have set myself... What can we do, the body is a crazy thing!

When I am at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight, I want to:
- Go snowboarding and actually be able to ride properly again, without over-loading my board with my excess weight
- Wear a gorgeous dress to my friend's black-tie wedding
- Face all my old school friends again and other people from my past that I've been avoiding for 2.5 years since I gained weight
- Make my family's collective jaws drop when I go back to visit later on this year (they are interstate)
- Go dancing for the first time since I moved to Tassie
- Be proud of myself.

Ticker finally Moving!!

Hey all,
wow, everyone is doing fantastically!! Great idea too by the way I can I will....Have pissed myself reading some of the responses!!

Here's mine.....
When I am at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight, I want to:
- Shake my ass on the dance floor without actually knocking anyone out with it!!!
- Not have to hunt down the size 14+ on the specials rack (note that there always seem to be loads of 8-10s left!)
- Be comfortable to wear bikinis and short skirts
- Buy some of those short shorts that everyone seems to be wearing lately and actually look bloody good!!
- Not have to pull my tops down all of the time to cover my belly!!
- Be able to wear any colour I like - not just black because it 'makes me look slimmer'...........

So, anyway, have finally been able to move my ticker down to 68 today - yay!! That's about 2kgs in the past week...I only have four to go (my consult told me last week that I should get to the bottom of my recommended weight range before ordering refeed, when I was aiming for the middle of it-adds a couple more kilos to lose - bugger!) :( If I stay on track though, it means I'll be ready to order my refeed right at about easter, when I'll be away for a week. So, I guess I wont be having any easter eggs then!! Am definitely going to buy a couple to put away for after though!!! :p

Hopeful 1 - I had a couple of incidents at the start where I had a bit of a spew....haven't had anything since then though, maybe it was, as moneypenny said, just your body adjusting.... As for the mozarella, I thought the same thing, but I haven't seen low fat in any of my local supermarkets, so I'm wondering if you are able to get it? I have used the normal stuff and have found it to be fine.

Lizzi - Glad you enjoyed the sweet chilli sauce, isn't it divine???? I am definitely going to try your sweet curry sauce soon - sounds yummy!!! - Princess Lou - that's my favourite meal at the moment, sweet chilli chicken or squid, SOOOOO YUMMMYYY!!! I posted the recipe for sweet chilli sauce a couple of pages back if you want to have a look!

Have an engagement party and a wine festival to attend this weekend - another will power test!!!! Am aiming for at least another 2 kilo loss this week, hopefully more, will have to see! Have a weigh in next Friday  - hopefully my consultant will be a bit happier with me next week!!

coloured text

gayegel to add colour just type what you want to say and then click with left mouse button and drag it over the section you wish to colour. This highlights it and then you select the colour you want to use from tools above, use the small arrow beside the capital A with the line under . Thats all you need to do. BTW I am mid 40s, so no spring chicken either!

It has been a very busy day for posts today!

Today was a great motivator for me. We have a social club at work that pretty much involves....well.....me. I organise BBQs throughout the year to raise money. The first one was today. And I didn't even think about eating a hamburger, or a sausage, or drinking a beer, OR dipping into the lolly bowl. And do you know what - I didn't even want to. I just proved to myself that I am in this for the long haul, and I'm going to do it! BRING IT ON!

When I am at a comfortable, healthy (goal) weight, I want to:- Be able to walk into a room and have the boys look at me.
- Buy a "cool" pair of jeans (and wear it with a singlet and have no muffin top!)

I am finding that I am spending a LOT of money on food though. I seem to eat (well I am) SO much meat, and it's costing me a heap. And all the fruit we seem to be able to eat is fairly expensive. It's all going to be worth it though....

Talk soon

Bella

Wow!!

Great reponses!!!!!

Tash* - I too have had a giggle reading them & a knowing nod & understanding with others !! :)

gayegel - Great question to post
What is everyone's real motivation for doing this diet?

My greatest motivator would be for health reasons. I have arthritis in my spine - from the neck to middle shoulders & jaw. I gained 40kgs when pregnant & boy didn't my body know it!!!! I also found out I have a heart arrhythmia....(irregular heartbeat) coupled with my family history of heart problems & obesity, I knew I must do something to be around for my child for many, many years.

:D MY TICKER MOVED ANOTHER 1 KG TODAY --- WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! :D Just having a Sprite Zero to celebrate!!! :D

I really am so PROUD of every single beautiful girl on this forum. Keep up your amazing triumph's! Everyday is another day closer to the new, fresh, healthy you! I must say how shocked I have been at my own determination & strength while on this program, it has been so much easier with all of your support & I thank you all! XXXXXXXX :) :)
