Cohen's Lifestyle Cohens Lifestyle Support - New

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi all,
I have been reading this forum for the last two months and have found it to be inspirational. I do not have much time to write anything but wanted to ask Newlife about refeed as I am getting closer to it as the days go by. I have lost ten kilos in eight weeks. Newlife what are your normal daily portions/weights now, in comparison to the normal Cohens food allowances? So afraid of putting weight on again, but you have shown that it doesnt happen, you have six days to go, sooo lucky!

40 today

Yes I am 40 today.:)

Not 40 years old, that will be in about 4 months, but 40KG down today. Feeling great! :D

Threw away some old pants and clothes that I wore when I was 123KG, I cannot believe some of the pants I threw away. These days they are way to big! But 5 months ago I couldnt even get them around my waist !

Only 3KG more and I will start refeeding process, that's just 2 weeks away.

My though for today "Consistent Action"! Human minds always try to attribute problems to clear specific actions and causes like "I like chocolate thats why I got fat", "My mum was fat", however the real truth is that daily small mistakes in our eating over a long period made us fat! Consistent action can also reverse our mistakes of the past "Daily small corrections", taking consistent action, doing things right or a bit better over a long period. This is the core of the Cohen diet, you need to take small consistent action to eat the Cohen meals, plan and prepare Cohen meals for a number of months, each meal is not hard to prepare, each meal is not hard to eat, each meal is enough to prevent hunger, its simple, it is easy. The trick or should I say the hard bit is doing this simple task over a long period and not getting sidetracked. And when you do get sidetracked getting yourself back on course!

Congratulations Lessfatty (your name says it all)

40kg:eek: you must look and feel amazing.

It sounds like you have your head in the right place with the whole dieting thing.
This is the stage when after the weight comes off that we try and remember not to become complacent and revert to our old eating habits.
It is so easily done as we all know.:(

I am 3kg's away from goal and I am a little bit anxious about life after Cohen's.

Maybe somebody could (introduce a thread) out there who has successfully completed Cohen's (long term) can give as some advice on how they are managing. It would extremely beneficial to all here

Well done again Lessfatty thanks for the inspiration.:)

Back on track

Well after quite a few mishaps I have reset my goals and am feeling alot better about I really want to follow this through and by gees its hard to refocus after deviating but I have and thats the main thing in my eyes. In 6 weeks I will treat my self to a day spa which I am very excited about, not sure what i am gonna do there but when it gets closer i will work it out, I have also decided that if I deviate at all I lose $10 for everyday that i do it, which I think is a great incentive because if I deviate thats less money to spend on myself which we just cant have now can we!!
I have been reading through the posts and am enjyoing them they give me more incentive and drive so thank you to all the people who inspire me with your words it is really great!!
OMG this is the most I have typed in a post I am usually not very good with words so I must be getting a bit better at it LOL!!
Well must go and have my lunch mmmm cant wait to eat it!!
Bye for now:)

aww shucks

First of all i would like to say a HUGE thankyou and lots of kisses and hugs to Newlife Melly P Dreamer Nans68 HeyFatty Itsmytime for the warm and encouraging replies! I feel so special knowing that even though we may not know each other, a few simple words can mean so much to a person! You guys have definately helped pull my head out of the sand and realise that we are ALL in this together and either way (fast or slow paced) we are ALL taking steps to improving our health, well being , mind and bodies!!!!

I had a long hard think about why i was so discouraged and really it was all superficial!!! Because im 20 (21 in 3 weeks  ) i was/am feeling really left out of my social scene (going out with friends on the weekend to restaurants or clubbing) . But this is seriously SUCH a short journey for the amount i am losing and in the end it will all be worth it. so i will continue to keep paddling in that little boat of mine and maybe it might grow a 4 speed motor boat engine on its own hehehe :p

So thankyou to all your replies once again! Ive taken your words of wisdom and im going to start treating myself damnit!! As of monday im booking sessions in the solarium so i can have a hot tan to go with my hot bod and in a few weeks i will be getting my teeth whitened (bday pressie to me).

YEEEEHAH FOR COHENS!!!

Lotsa Love and Happy Losing!
Caroline x

oh and before i forget!! HAPPY 40 KILO LOST LESSFATTY!!!!!! WOOO!!!!!

Congratulations Lessfatty & FatCat!

Yes I am 40 today.:)

Not 40 years old, that will be in about 4 months, but 40KG down today. Feeling great! :D

Congratulations Lessfatty - what a fantastic achievement!! You must feel soooo good and so very proud of yourself. :)

FatCat - You've done an amazing job - to give you some perspective, I started only 12 days after you - weighing around 77 kg and am currently around 68 kg ... so a loss of 'only' 9 kg and I've been on Cohens for only 12 days less than you.

As I've said in earlier posts - the way you look (ie your measurements) is the true indicator and I know that can be hard - I personally can't but help focus on the kg loss instead of the cm loss - because at the end of the day, Cohen's don't say "We'll give you your refeed when you have lost X cm" ... it is all kg based.

One thing that also isn't taken into account at all with Cohens when they calculate your goal weight range, is that for every weight range, there is also a range of bone structures (ie fine, medium and heavy/large). I'm not trying to make excuses about being 'heavy boned', but you don't have to be Einstein to work out that larger bone structures would mean heavier bones ... people are actually saying to me that I must have the 'proverbial big bones' because there is no way I look like I have another 17 kg to lose.

Anyway, enough waffling from me - be proud of yourself - you're doing a great job ... :D

Kind regards

Taffy

Amazing Jewls

Hi everyone

I have only posted once or twice but love reading this forum. Jewls is a special friend of mine and she looks absolutely amazing. I wish she would post some photos. As most of you would know she has not devitated in the eight months she has been on the program and the results more than speak for themselves. She has had every emotional excuse to deviate, including a very painful broken ankle but stubborn girl that she is, has stuck to her plan 100%. Jewls this is a very public thank you for the support and encourgement you are to me. Post and let everyone know your latest figures!!!!!!! Go hot mama!!!

Lucee

Does anyone use the chat anymore? I've checked a few times and no one's in there x.x
Oh and CONGRATS Lessfatty, it must feel awesome :D

I got my ticker up, I can't believe how much I have to lose :(.. And my consultant thinks I can do it in 6-7 months? I don't think so lol.

Hi all.
Went out tonight. first social outing with a couple of girlfriends. was great. drank my waters, watched a cool band, had a boogie and laughed at all the pissed people. was heaps of fun. i do admit i did a mini deviation. i had a diet coke. and pressuming that over a bar it is not caffiene free. i made the excuse to myself that if i can have a normal cup off black coffee then surely one diet coke wont hurt. ooops!!! anyhow. done it and getting over it. could have been worse.

just telling hubby today that i havent had one meal that i have to really force down. i really enjoy the food i am eating. am starting to forget my crackers and eat my fruit just cause. so that is a bonus.

anyhow good to hear everyone in high spirits. my new goal along with the 25kg is that i have a ticket to the PINK concert on 23 May and want it all over and done with by then. is this doable??

lose of friends!!

Tanya

Hi there

Kirby - I haven't seen anyone in the chat room when I check.....I haven't looked that much but.

Last night I really wanted to deviate - I was feeling lazy after already cooking lasange for the family and hubby went out. Had done heaps of housework (you know the story) and all I wanted to do was eat the leftovers. It smelt good and I was so close to eating it........

I hope this is not a sign that on the second half of the plan, when you are looking much better and feeling pretty good about yourself, that it becomes more and more tempting to "just have a little"

LessFatty congratulations on the big 40. Such an achievement, esp with the travel temptations and being ill. Sorting out the old, never to be worn again clothes is really eye opening isn't it?
Fatcat, well done on the loss, hot bod here you come. Sometimes we feel left out because we can't 'be normal' doing 'normal things', but just remember how crappy you'd be feeling if you hadn't started Cohen's and were still going out drinking, eating and still gaining weight. As you say it's a short journey to be where you want to be, so sit back enjoy the ride and it'll be over before you know it.
Taffy, I'm the same, while the cm loss is great, can't help feel that the kg loss is more significant, after all when peple ask how much have you lost, they don't mean cms do they?
Lucee have been wondering how Jewls has been going, met her for coffee before Christmas and she is truly an inspiration and such a lovely lady. Glad to hear the ankle is better.
heyfatty well done on a deviation free night out, I have had to resort to a diet coke on the odd occaision, don't sweat it. You lucky thing, Pink! I would love to see her in concert. If you haven't lost that 25kg, you'll be very close at the least so stay focussed with that goal in mind, but, if it doesn't happen just remember you did the best that you could so any loss will be wonderful.
Kirby and Losing I've popped in to chat as well occaisionally and if no-one is in I've just left, been really tired lately so I'll keep an eye out for you both. I've also got 2 teenagers to race to the computer as well so sometimes that'll put me off :( .
Have decided to order refeed at 60kg, my goal weight is 54-57kg, so I want to be ready for the 'hunger'. I'm aiming for 54kg but am prepeared to go with what my body says is right. Felt a bit tempted lately, haven't deviated but am finding that I'm looking at choc biscuits etc and thinking about them a little more than I have while on the plan. I do think it's the psychological effect of looking and feeling better and being at a weight where I've never been before. So, will just remember where I started and how well I'm doing and that I'm not going back there ever ever again :) . That's gotta be better than any treats or deviations.

Goodmorning everyone!
CONGRATS lessfatty.....amazing (big pats on the back) you must look awesome.
hey fatcat...thats great to hear hun, just remember there will always be someone around to help you!
Taffy- about the big bone thing! I'm with you. not that i am making excuses but some people are genuinely wider and broader than others and just can't carry the same weights..hmmm.
well done everyone, such inspiring wonderful people.
i am so excited to be starting tomorrow....(weirdo LOL) no seriously just looking so forward to being at total peace and harmony within me. my life is sensational the only thing missing is the happiness within about my body.
have a great day everyone.

Been Bad!!!

I have not been really good... been eating things that are not allowed in my plan... i am going to pick myself up and hope the next week i will be able to be extremely good... and well... chinese new year would be here.. I think i will be deviating a bit more but of course i will be careful of what i eat...... and than i will be back 100% on track... Please support me... I will make sure I am back on my track as soon as the cny celebration is over...

Taffy - thanks for the mention hun :) much appreciated! As for the bone thing, ive always thought that was a myth for fat people to lie to themselves haha
so is it really true? cos if it is, i must have the bone of a rhinoscorus!! :p

Jewls - WOAH! not once in eight MONTHS!!! i havent deviated in 12 weeks and i thought i was good! haha, yes would definately love to see some of those piccies if you dont mind! some ole fashion piccie motivation is exactly what the doctors ordered!

Kirby - About a month ago or so some girls in here would actually plan when they would go into the chat so they could meet up for a talk then, im always in and out of the house so i dont chat, id rather post! If you do want someone to talk to, then post a note for people knowing when ull be in there? Also in regards to your weight loss, i know it may seem daunting at first and you think HOLY JEEBUS theres no way you can do it...just remember ' A journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step' , so take it meal by meal, day my day, post by post, and youll see the difference starting to appear in not too long. Whose your consultant? Also were you in the clinic on friday morning???

Heyfatty - I wouldnt worry too much about the diet coke hun! do you drink all your three cups of coffee each day? if not i really dont think it shouldnt be a problem. the only difference between the two cokes is ones cafeine free, and ones not! :)

Dreamer - 46.7 in 6/7 months?? PFFT!!! of course you can do it!! and well be here all the way!

Losing - I know how you feel sweetie! when you start getting to the point where people are complimenting you more and your feeling so darn good you think ' oh just one little bit wont hurt' just think...You didnt spend a hard earned 700 dollars and time invested into cohens just to have a bit of this and a bit of that now did you? and who knows? a little bit could turn into a LOT and then could turn into you gaining all that weight back! i truly believe you can see this to the end!! and you know what?? you know what lasagne tastes like right? itll be there at the end when youve finished :)

Lonicee - You are sooooo right, and i would be hating myself everyday for being that weight as well, which i now know, i will NEVER be that person again!!!we have a similar amount of weight left to lose, so we might be doing refeed together! ooh how exciting  we can pull each other through this!

Babyegg - Is there any reason why youve been deviating?? rather then going ' oh ill just wait till chinese new year is over then ill start again' why dont you start now? Ive read a LOT of posts where people have said the same things youve said and havent gone back on the wagon again!! Im just worried that you might turn one chinese new year WEEK into a month event!!!

Happy Losing x

Another Day....

Hi all
FATCATThanks fatcat for the reassurance. i definately dont have all 3 coffees lucky to have one. so i guess it aint so bad. and great posting to everyone. very supportive.

Taffyi thought cohens took into consideration the bone structure and that is why your goal is based also on your shoesize???

Babyeggsi am sorry but have to agree with FATCAT. if there is one excuse there will be another. do it now.....you might be finished in time for the next big celebration....

thanks also dreamer and lonniecee for your support. glad to relax that i have not had a deviation in the near 2 weeks i have been on cohens.

does anyone have a recipe for rissoles or fishcakes i could use??
Lose on friends:)

i Agree....

I agree with you, heyfatty and fatcat... i guess somethings are not going too smoothly for me right now... but well... i will follow what you have said.. and make sure there is no deviation for the following week. But i dunno if i wil be able to do just tat over the chinese new year... I know i should not think this way... let me get prepared mentally, k? thanks for your replies...

Hi Hey Fatty

Hi all
FATCATThanks fatcat for the reassurance. i definately dont have all 3 coffees lucky to have one. so i guess it aint so bad. and great posting to everyone. very supportive.

Taffyi thought cohens took into consideration the bone structure and that is why your goal is based also on your shoesize???

Hello Hey Fatty

Using the shoe size helps give a rough guide to body structure - but it is not that accurate. Really - and it is not very practical as it would be too expensive - you would need to undergo something that also incorporates a bone density test.

There are so many variables to take into account. Re the shoe size though - I have a friend who is about 148 cm (ie 4 cm smaller than I am) - her frame is smaller than mine - not just due to the height difference, but (eg) the width of her wrists, shoulders, etc, too) - she has size 7.5 shoes (no - she doesn't look like Minnie Mouse ;) - compared to my size 5.5 shoes - so even though her frame is smaller, her feet are bigger.

Anyway - I'm not making excuses, just saying that the 3kg goal range set by Cohens can't possibly take into account all of the individual participant's variables - it's just a guide. The body frame/structure factor does help to explain why some people look so much smaller than their weight would suggest.

Cohens have told me to 'forget about the scales' (easier said than done!) because my cm loss is demonstrating my fat loss, ie although I've lost < 10kg, I have lost > 84 cm - which (according to Cohens) is a greater measurement loss than usual when compared to the total kgs lost.

Having gabbled on ... heck - I'm just happy that I'm smaller ... :D

Take care everyone!

Kind regards

Taffy

I've been doing this for 4 weeks now and have not deviated at all.The wierd thing this I have only lost 15cm from all over but I'm fitting into my clothes so much better and looking better.Go figure!
I have lost 5.7kgs in 4 weeks(hopefully more by tomorrow mornings official weigh in) even that isn't much by everyone elses standards but it took me 3 years of weightwatchers to get that far so I'm really pleased anyway.

Great results everyone, 40kgs lost WOW and 84cm for someone else.I can only dream about it, but my turn to brag will come.

Hi Katydidnext

Hi Katydidnext

You are doing wonderfully well already ... and you don't need to wait to brag - just go for it!

Any loss when it comes to weight and/or cm is worth bragging about ... :D

Kind regards

Taffy
