Hey everyone, long time no post!! i fell off the horse over christmas, am now back on it!! have quit my job to go into full time study

but today i saw something that made me want to cry. my hair's falling out. big time. my pillow is covered, it's all on my clothes.... has anyone had anything similar? how have they gotten around it?

Much excitement this morning when I jumped on the scales, 74.0kg. I now weigh less than my hubby. He was very pleased for me. :D Another goal achieved and the pleasure is reward enough.

my hairdresser said a few of her cohenites are losing hair. I'm also interested in everyone else's experience or how to stop it happening

eleni - go to the clinic and discuss this with your consultant, but seriously after that go to the doctor.

While I was on the program my hair and nails grew faster. Everything was better.

A friend of mine lost most of her hair about 90 days after the birth of her first child.

Unless you had some sort of shock or were on medication about 90 days ago, there is no reason relating to Cohen's why your hair would be falling out.

So think first, then act.

Good luck

Chelsea

Thankyou

LENI- My hair is falling out also!!!

But i havent been doing Cohen's for at least 8 weeks now..

I think in my case it has alot to do with Stress... Unhealthy Eating.. But i am going to see my Dr to sort this out.. I have extreamly thin hair as it is.. wouldnt like to go bald anytime soon! :p

Go and see your Doctor!

hihi... i had the same problem... my hair started to drop off in big amts...i did some research over the net.. might be due to diet prob ,lack of vits or stress... i switched my shampoo to one specially formulated for thinning hair... loaded up on the xtra vits.. vitamins Bs(B12,B6, B2 etc) and zinc... now my massive hair drop has stopped... quite normal now.. now waiting for those lost hairs to be grown out again....maybe u gals can try it out...

Ticker Update!

WELL after days and days of dreading my 8 week weigh in it had finally arrived!

So i have lost another 5.6 kilo this month :D im pretty stoked about that but i have to admit i was a little disapointed not to see a 7 or 8 YES i know its still a HUGE loss i mean over 8 weeks ive lost over 15 kilo! i think it was just my first months lost was a huge one (10 kilo) so i kinda got too confident hahaha

i think my body was in shock in the first month and now its cruising along nicely.

although this means i wont reach goal weight and refeed till a month after my 21st im just going to save up big and have a huge do for when i do..

itll sort of be like a 'HAPPY 21st and YOUR NOT A WHALE ANYMORE' kind of do :)

Can anyone help me with words to explain to my mum how i still have another 18 kilo to go?? she keeps saying 'OH ANOTHER 5 KILO AND YOULL BE PERFECT'
my family is polish and i guess my mum is just doing the traditional european worrywort thing.Although ive seen pictures of her when she was my age and woah was she skinny! so i guess she doesnt really understand what it feels like to be a frumpy 21 year old huh!

anyway girlies (and boys!) i hope today was another downwards day for all of you...on the scales i mean!!

happy losing xx

Well done, FatCat!! Great effort. I also lost 10kg in my first month and 5kg in second month, so I think its a common experience!
In terms of convincing your mum, I think its probably impossible! So, I wouldn't necessarily tell her the details of how much you have left to lose, maybe talk in terms of weeks, rather than kilos.
In my experience, mothers, particularly Eastern EUropean mothers, base their self esteem on the fact that they are feeding you well and providing well for you, often because they lacked food as young people. So, they feel guilty and they are not doing their job if you are skinny.

Thank you all for your posts and these losses are fantastic. I took time off from Cohens over Christmas, and I am finding it so hard to get back on.. I'm okay for a day or two.... I"m finding it so hard to face eggs for breakfast, as I detest yoghurt too .... But reading and seeing your tickers has remotivated me... I'm starting Cohens in the Morning :Y:

Goal 1 is to lose 1kg next week and not deviate at all.

Well done FC:)
That is fabulous be proud. My mother is the same she is away at the moment so it has been ok but when I am over weight it's you need to lose then when you lose the weight it's oh!!!!.......your to thin eat more so your at a lose anyway.
Wecome back Ichooselife I remember reading your post prior to joining.
I'm the opposite I dislike eggs and love yogurt. Could you have a meat dish instead or is that to repulsive - I haven't worked myself up trying anything different for breakfast i've stuck with the yoghurt for convenience.
Goodluck - Sam:)

Hi Everyone,
Congratulations Fat Cat one your lost, you are sure on your way to being a Hot Kitten.
Hey Big Bird and Time to Lose It, Browyn is also my consultant. She seem like a really helpful person. I'm also waiting for my program to come it getting sick of having all these "Last Suppers". I know i should start to cut out the coffee and start to drink more water so it dosen't hit me all at once. I have lost my resolved a little and i hope that I can find the courage once again when the program has come.:(

Lost4evva, once you have your plan in hand, the excitement will build again. Take the water and coffee switch gradually. I started by drinking black coffee than switched to decaf rather than cut it out totally, now I start the day with a caffienated black coffee with 1 sweetener and the rest of the day is decaf, i am drinking less coffee than pre Cohens' tho which is good. Increase the water gradually.start off with a bottle and sip frequently, then refill as necessary. Keep a mental track of how many bottles but don't try to down 3-4 litres from the start, it's too hard.
There are other little things that you can do in preparation, cut out the "last suppers', mentally that is telling yourself that this plan will be a hardship and to make hay while the sun shines. Whilst it is certainly a change in how and what we have been eating, start checking out the fresh fruit and veg in season and get yourself into the mood of healthy easting and cooking. There are foods that I miss but this plan is such a positive for me that I can't bear the thought of indulging in non cohens, I want to finish this as soon as possible. I know what take aways taste like, the same goes for wine and lattes etc. All I have done is put them aside for awhile until after refeed, and if my refeed tells me that there are certain foods that don't agree with me then so be it, I'll just have to lump it.
Cheer up and take heart, keep coming back to the forum to keep your motivation ticking along. Check out the 'preparation for Cohens' thread, it may help with some really good tips.
Once you start the plan, you will be surprised how courageous you will become as you develop confidence in how you look and feel about yourself. It is so worth it :D .
All the best
Lauren

Thanks Lonniecee, for your advice. I know i can do this and that it won't be forever. Coffee is my drug of choice at the moment but i do know that i can and have before cut it out of my diet and felt better for it. All you guys on this forum are soooo incouraging and supportive of each other, you are all a real testment to how humans should behave and interact with each other.
Thanks again;)

G'Day

Regarding coffee, I messed around trying to drink instant coffee black, but it tastes like burnt water, so I tried the plunger and various methods until I remembered I had an aluminium Italian style stove top percolator at the back of the cupboard - and it was wonderful!

I made one batch of coffee fresh each morning, and poured it into a glass jug, and simply poured a 'shot' of coffee into a cup and zapped it in the microwave, had a glass of water and a 'taste' of black coffee throughout the day.

This way, I had a 'cup' of coffee whenever I wanted one, but throughout the day only had that one percolator full. I got to really look forward to a 'long black' when out, and never used sweetener (hate the stuff, hate the bitter after taste, uurk!, why pretend?)

Now, I am back to having milk in the coffee but still only have a third cup, plus a glass of water each time.

In Denmark, they fatten pigs with milk.

In Australia, we fatten Darling Downs cattle with grain.

While I was enjoying my 'short black' I knew I was doing myself a big favour by not having the milk. After all, the daily yoghurt and the three cheese meals each week provide a good amount of calcium and apart from the calcium, why do we drink milk?

The Cohen's program really made me question the way we just take the food for granted, and dairy and wheat products have become the 'junk food' of Western society - yet the rate of osteoporosis is rising and so is the disease of obesity.

The program gives us a chance to re-educate our taste buds. Not everything has to be sweet! Not everything has to be salty, or highly flavoured. The program gives us permission to eat food the way we are meant to - raw, or lightly cooked, fresh, not processed, and not pulverised out of existence!

There is no status in eating rubbish food, no matter how pretty the packaging.

But I had no intention of going 20 weeks between cups of coffee, so the little Italian percolator - with fresh, natural coffee - was my godsend!

Cheers

Kristine
