I love that you cut up that jumper! How cathartic! Glad G's club is so welcoming - surround yourself with that good good!
 
LaMa- Spring here can be 4 seasons in one day.
Petal- It's getting warmer the next few days, thank goodness.
Em- Thanks. The prizes were just 6-packs of beer for each member of the team, but G & I managed to swap our dozen for a nice bottle of Tasmanian Sauvignon Blanc. The day was sponsored. The bike is still dusty :blush5:
Hana- It was really cathartic cutting up that jumper. There were lots of f's given. G's club is very welcoming & has a great culture.
Flyer- It is a great sight. We see lots of the yellow-tailed black cockatoos as we aren't that far from Cradle Mountain really. They come down from the mountains when it gets really rough up there. The white cockies (sulphur-crested) do more damage & are considered pests, but are not abundant in Tasmania & we only rarely see them up here.

It's going to be a lovely day today & G & I will go get wood. His friend came out yesterday & dragged some logs out for us with his 4WD. We won't do too much though as G overdid it a bit yesterday.
 
Agreed in spades about sulphur-cresteds doing damage - they'll just chew a tree to bits for the fun of it, it seems - and galahs are pretty prevalent, too, though I like them, because they look to me like a flock of grandmas in grey with pink bonnets, when they're all scuffling on the ground picking up spilt grain or whatever.
But black cockatoos, whichever colour of tail - or all-black! - are special, and I'd love to see them! Lucky you! :) Enjoy your day!
 
Thanks, Amy. I am sitting on my bench seat in the middle of the bush. It's warm & I'm soaking up the sun like a lizard-a well-covered lizard :)

even though i got to play some golf at a very nice course while i was a caddy off and on for ~5 years in my late teens, i never thought i was that good... until i started playing again with some friends when i was in my 40's. boy are there some shamelessly bad golfers out there. to give you a good example of where most of their minds were during a round, i remember a friend showing me his new bag one day ... the best feature to him? ... it could hold an entire 12-pack.
 
Sounds like you need to keep an eye on G as much as he needs to keep an eye on you - a good thing that you do. Soaking up the sun like a lizard sounds lovely right now!

Thanks everyone. I need a couple of days off posting. Still have to make a couple of calls to extricate myself neatly from the club. Feeling a bit shaky. About to head off for a walk & will make one call when I get back to the life member that I really like. I was going to visit her today but I know I would get too emotional & I really don't want to.

Thanks, Amy, LaMa & Petal (& Rob). I needed a couple of days to just chill & not worry about other things. I always read diaries, even if I don't comment.
I rang my friend yesterday and said that I wouldn't be at golf today & asked her to cross my name off the list for the championships quietly. She said what if someone asks who did & I said "Sure. You can say I asked you too." We then had a good talk about it & she was really upset, but also totally understanding why I felt as I do. I told her that nothing would change my mind now & that I won't be coming back for anything including the Christmas lunch. She was genuinely upset, but also totally supportive of me. I will visit her at home from time to time as I really do like her the most of all the women. I felt so much better after the call. I was going to go see her but knew that would be more upsetting. It feels like such a relief!
I had planned on driving G to his golf & continuing on to Launc. & shopping, but decided last night that I wouldn't as it would have been exhausting. I don't need exhausting at the moment. Instead, I will go into our local town & do a little shopping, pick up a parcel, go to the library & go for a walk around the river.
I am being kind to myself :grouphug:
 
Hi Cate, the whole thing sounds so emotionally draining. Is it the fact that there were protestations about trusting you with the key, even though you've been involved with the club for years, that tipped you over the edge? I think I might have missed some things.

I also think people go mad with power, maybe some of them liked having the power to say 'no' to that, for whatever silly ego reason they had going on in their head. It is so hurtful when people turn on you, or disappoint you, there's nothing much I can say. I haven't figured out how to deal with it myself yet.

The one thing that keeps me going is that no matter how low people get with me or how they treat me, I don't have this need inside me to be cruel back. I mean, in my head, I probably am cruel back, and can be very unkind, but if someone gives me a smile and shows any sign of friendliness, I find it nearly impossible to keep a sour head on me to 'punish' them in some way. I actually think that's an admirable quality and one I think you share. Dom't let them drag you down to their level! Keep your self-respect and be that kind, loving person we all know you are.
 
Hi, Em. It has been emotionally draining. You didn't really miss much as I haven't been talking about it much. There have been lots of little things & the key thing was just the last straw. You hit the nail on the head with the power thing as well, but also it is so cliquey. I'm relieved to be done with it now & have learned a lesson. I really tried to just play golf & not worry about what goes on, but I am just not that person.
I have been determined not to be nasty back & I got that message across to my friend yesterday. I told her that I won't be bad-mouthing the club at all. I haven't deserved the treatment I have got, but I also won't stoop to their level & will leave with my dignity & self-respect. Thank you, Em!
 
Oh, I must tell you something. I am so excited! My lovely husband has never been up in a helicopter. I have only been up once & that was when I was 8 years old. I have never forgotten it. I have been looking online & trying to work out how I can manage/afford it. I have just booked 2 helicopter flights over Cradle Mountain for the family for his birthday. G can go up both times- once with me, R & our older GS, the other with D & his 2 younger kids, so it can be a shared memory for them with their Dad & granddad. Now, to keep this secret! He will be tickled pink!
 
Oohhhh.... ! That's marvellous! What a great idea - you must be almost bursting with the secret. :) (Not just the flight, but such beauty, too!)
