Cate's Diary

Belly dancing- the thought of that makes me smile.
Go for it! One of the best shows I can remember seeing was the belly dancer in a Moroccan restaurant. She was neither young nor svelte but quite skilled and obviously really enjoying herself. Her enthusiasm was contagious, the audience loved it; very impressive. Her belly was bare, but otherwise she was quite modestly dressed.

Hey for someone who was going to take some time off from posting you've been a very busy lady. I hope that means you are feeling better.

That's a tough challenge to be handed this week - but knowing what you've already dealt with, I know you'll meet it with grace and a strong heart. Arranging to be with someone close to you on Wednesday - R or V - is definitely a good idea - and having that glass of bubbly while you're with them as well!
I admire the way you're seizing the reins, and not letting the golf business leave a gap - and all three of the options you mention sound good. I loved what Marisa told us about the drumming - belly-dancing sounds wild! so energetic and fun! :) Definitely a week for kindness and self-care, though - I'm so glad you are leading the way there for all of us! :grouphug:

Thanks, Rob. I took belly dancing classes years ago & absolutely loved it. I have one of the jingly wrap around scarves & some matching earrings. I don't know if I would bare my belly, but you never know it could be the incentive I need to lose some more weight.
Maybe I just can't stay away from here! I was getting crabby with the forum even & did take one day off.
Thanks Amy!

Cate sorry to hear G is heading off on your anniversary but make sure you do something fun. Visits sound good. I didn't know you had sheep . That's fantastic. I love sheep.

Thanks, Petal. I will do something fun. I am determined to actually. I think I will go somewhere every day during the week. We have 13 sheep only. 2 of them are offspring of 2 of the ewes. We kept 2 of the lambs from 2 years ago. They lead & the others follow so they make it easy to get them in. They are cute & very bossy. I am not happy with G being away for our wedding anniversary. He knows that & it should not happen again.

Sorry you're sad, Cate. Maybe use the time G is away to "date yourself" and practice some kindness to yourself. You are very special x

Thanks, LaMa. I'm really going to push myself out that door each day. I'm feeling a bit better today & not sad. I'll ring my friend, V today & see what day suits her to visit. We may go out to lunch I think. Then I'll work around that with the other days. One will be shopping in L (60km away) & a haircut, another might be visiting another friend who I haven't seen for a couple of years, maybe catch up at the beach/National Park. There is a Tai Chi class tomorrow at 10 am & another at 2. I sent a message to the guy who runs them asking which one is more a beginners class but I haven't heard back yet. I think I'll start going to one of them, depending on his answer. I prefer simple tai chi or qigong. Belly dancing classes are at night & 60 km away, so don't think I'll go. One of my days can be spent in our local town- library, shopping & a walk around the river.
Today we are going to a vinyl album launch in L at 3 pm, after visiting our BIL along the way. He's home now.

Maybe you can practice the belly-dancing at home from videos? That would make it easier to do a little every day, too. So far your week sounds really pleasant.

I favor the Tai Chi myself. I bought a CD a few years ago called "The seven minutes of Magic" which has some nice, gentle exercises based on that. It really helps me to do those when my lower back gets sore. Too bad, I don't have a DVD player anymore!

I did some dancing along to you tube about a year ago . I really enjoyed it . Was Bollywood dancing . So much is available now . It sounds like your days are full and busy Cate so keep it going .
Sheep sound so cute

Hi, LaMa, Jack & Petal. I think I have a Tai Chi DVD somewhere I must look for. My problem with going to actual classes is with my fragrance sensitivities. I think I try to imagine that I can do these things, but the reality is different. I am not going to let this get me down though. I have to stay at home today as I hardly got any sleep last night after being in a very small, crowded room yesterday. I thought I had coped well with it, but my Asthma today tells me otherwise. I had lots of fun & really enjoyed the music. I chatted to the musician & G & I had a meal out afterwards. I was wide awake until at least 2 am & was up early.
G & I visited our BIL on the way to the show yesterday. He has been very down. My SIL usually has a craft group on Mondays & I had asked her if she was going this week and she said it was their Christmas lunch. I said that I was going to town & would go visit while she was at lunch & keep M company. I just had to message her to say I needed to stay at home & why. I really couldn't drive safely today. She's fine with it & understands. He'll be ok. I'll give him a call later. I will go to town another day & visit before I come home. I know that he appreciates our visits. I have always got on very well with him, although we have very different views on major things.
So: today I will instead look after my physical health by staying at home & breathing lots of fresh air.
G has headed off for 4 nights. I have "fixed" his phone with 3 alerts on Wednesday. He won't forget our wedding anniversary :D

I'm glad you're having a quiet day today - away from noise and bad air. Just gentleness.
With the tai chi - could you ask if you can come for a one-off "taster" session, just to see if they're a fragrance-heavy group this time?
Look after yourself - you are very important to a lot of people! :grouphug:

I try to imagine that I can do these things, but the reality is different.
I can relate to that, about a lot of things. If I could do only 1/4 of what I imagine I could it would be great.

Do you take care of your own sheep or do you just graze them for someone? I have never kept farm animals, but they seem like a lot of responsibility.

If you do the belly dancing you need to post a video here, that would be great!

Thanks, Amy. I really needed a day of fresh air, but am looking forward to getting out somewhere tomorrow. I have been really lazy though.
Rob- We only have 13 sheep & they are very easy to look after. We have them trained to go into a little yard once a year to be shorn & drenched. If I do belly dancing I doubt very much I will share a video. I'm not that brave.
It's only 3.15 & I think I need a nap!

Cate hope your getting that nap. I like your style reminding G about anniversary. Ours mostly goes forgotten I'm afraid. Birthdays I do remind.

Thanks LaMa. I slept for 2 hours!
Hi, Petal. He won't get a chance to forget. I hope the alarms make him laugh & feel a bit guilty.

I stayed at home again today & I really, really must get out & about tomorrow! I have spent the day rearranging the house & doing more de-cluttering, after visiting my SIL & BIL on Sunday & seeing how much stuff they have.
Someone, please nag me to get out tomorrow. I could so easily become a hermit & I know it's not good for me!
